I can honestly say, while driving by every Saturday, I was curious about the out the door line. Then one Saturday, I braved the long morning wait (that I was expecting and wasnt mad about in the least). I soon found out I was duped. The trick is just that. People see people waiting...ergo, assume they should check it out. I was then in the long line waiting outside for other passerbys to see. Vicious cycle I tell ya. The food was good, but not great. I felt like I was back at Le Peep, Good Egg, or Blue Plate in Phoenix. Or somewhere in Sun City perhaps. Hotel interior colors. (Salmon and green...*shudders*). Id say this place has a future within its own mediocrity but is no where near the gastronomical delight of places like Genies, Bijou, or Mothers Cafe. The kitsch is the actual Cadillac parked inside the dining area. The novelty wore off in about 15 minutes as the coffee flowed like the urine of a 60 year old man with prostate problems. Overall: (out of 5-being the heighst) Service-3 Environment-3 Food-2.5 Location-5 Kitsch-5 Thanks for the experience! Id say it is way better than the "Village Inn-in-drag" Roses Restaurant that opened down the way. Suck!

Came in and were seated. Waited 10 min for a drink order to be taken. Waited over an HOUR for food. Ordered a chicken fried steak with a soda to drink. When the slightly watered down soda is the highlight of the meal, I consider it a failure. All my previous chicken fried steaks from other restaurants, have been incredibly tender and could cut thru them with a worn down plastic butter knife. This was the first that was tough to cut with a metal fork and hard to chew. The breading was thick and a bit hard. Came with the house potatoes and eggs. Scrambled eggs were runny, and the famous potatoes were nothing special. Over an hour wait for this was dreadfully not worth it. The server was also a bit inattentive and a bit scattered. Had to recheck the bill multiple times for our group. And when the server walks away with your card and then see them serving 2 other tables worth of food, before coming back with your card... Has me a bit concerned as to who could have walked by and taken my card, while they were otherwise occupied. Never again will we voluntarily be dining here.

I havent been for a couple years, I was quite surprised at the emptiness, no line, no one to greet you, shabby entrance, dirty floors. The seat cushions dirty and stained, I had to sweep food off to sit. Although the place was empty, we were offered a poor seating choice, one Chair was directly involved in sun by the skylight. Our waiter was largely absent, and extremely unfriendly. The wait was long...we were finally given extra free drinks....awhile later a small fruit plate was offered...The food however was excellent....I had to leave my seat twice to get help...it seemed when I did the waitstaff scattered. I am sad to see this as this was a family favorite for a long time....obviously everyone else feels the same.

A favorite neighborhood breakfast and lunch place. Friendly, reliable, good freshly made breakfasts, nice bright atmosphere with big windows and clean decor. Its not a hipster place. Its been there for decades and attracts an older neighborhood crowd. The table service is professional but casual and friendly. Big enough that theres not usually much of a wait even on weekend mornings. The Cadillac isnt a hangout per se, but they usually dont mind if you linger awhile over your coffee and conversation after theyve taken your plates away. Theres a main room and a kind of "garden" room, which is much noisier. Ask to sit in the main room if you want to talk quietly or if you have hearing issues

First restaurant I bumped into in my new neighborhood- I had a wonderful Jambalaya take out for lunch (although a little shy of the spice I usually like- it was still delicious). I want to go back and try it in house, as I suspect the portions are larger, although the take out was not skimpy with warm bread. Then I went back with my husband on a Saturday around 11:30- wait wasnt more than 15 minutes...I had a delicious Asian salad with really fresh delicious cabbage. He enjoyed his late breakfast so much he would not share! :) I enjoy the campy decor- it feels like an old, renovated miami cafeteria, but maybe thats just me. Service was a little weak, but adequate.

A delicious breakfast menu does not transfer to a good lunch dining experience 8/10/10. In fact, it was a disaster from the cynical wait staff to the disappointing chicken salads. The chopped Chinese salad came with huge irregular chunks of vegetables (mostly cabbage and celery), a bland piece of chicken on top, and almost no dressing. A white, processed type small roll came with it, but no butter. The waiter and his shadow intern were laughing with each other over my daughters order clarification, when she called the salad an Asian salad rather than the Chinese salad. If not unkind, it was thoughtless and caused her to be embarrassed.

I feel as though a Cadillac is a perfect metaphor for the cafe of the same name. While its a classic, its definitely a brand thats been around, as marked by its aging patrons. The interior, while quite nice and clean, is clearly as dated as the actual Cadillac inside it. The food? You wont find many groundbreaking ideas here but the whole menu is made up of classics done at a very high level. Really amazing french toast, sausages and omelets. If you can put up with piss poor coffee and old fogies, than this place is a winner for sure.

If you are going to eat at the Cadillac Cafe it isnt for the atmosphere. I dont think Ive been in a restaurant in Portland that felt more like the dining area for a Courtyard by Marriott. The clientele is also what youd find in a hotel restaurant, more grey hair than almost anywhere else in Portland. Service is spotty, the person who seated us couldnt have been more disinterested and our server was just plain odd. Food is pretty good but not the best weve had. The experience surrounding it is enough not to really make it worthwhile.

I have a few friends who love this place, but its never really clicked for me. The food is fine, but nothing has ever excited me, even the specials have felt like simple standard fare. Something about the atmosphere puts me off--it feels like Im eating in a hotel or something, everything is clean and the service is nice but it feels sterile. The fact that they serve breakfast all day is a major bonus, however, for those days when you mean to wake up for brunch but cant actually bring yourself to leave home until after noon.

Almost skipped it assuming it was a tourist trap, but so glad we didnt. I got the omelet with goat cheese, spinach and mushroom and it was delicious. Traded my potatoes for fruit and was not disappointed with the quality, but the real winner was the banana blueberry bread! My husband and son got the smoothies were slurped em down to the bottom. My latte was beautifully presented and I really wanted the blueberry mint kombucha, but ran out of room before I could order it.

Stopped here while visiting Portland with family. There are options for everyone. Waiters are so friendly and open, food is delicious. Your water glass and coffee mugs are never empty. The Cadillac is BEAUTIFUL, Im not a car enthusiast or anything but the story that went along with it and how gorgeous it was still appreciated (plus it was a hit with dad). Overall chill and cozy (but roomy) diner that we will most likely hit up again next year!!
