Horrible. I have been here once before and had a mediocre experience, but tonight was just awful. The server didnt bring us water, and let the phone go unanswered several times while only serving three tables. She was uneducated as to the food, and got frustrated and dismissive when I asked if everything was fresh. My "barely sweet, made from scratch" margarita was just tequila and syrupy bottled sour mix. The shrimp with "sauteed vegetables" dish I ordered was so overcooked it was akin to rubber, and the vegetables were just slices of onion and mushy, pale tomatoes. The sauce seemed to just be butter - no seasonings, just butter. The chicken mole my mother ordered was just one steamed chicken breast, served whole (as opposed to sliced, shredded, or chunked) with very bland sauce poured on it. Imagine that. A steamed chicken breast with sauce, sitting on a plate with a scoop of sad, boring beans. No garnish, nothing. I wish I had taken pictures, but we were so hungry from working all day that, as terrible as it was, we ate it anyway. I will never be back.

BAD SERVICE and I can make better Mexican food at home and Im not Spanish. 1st time, tried to use Entertainment Book Coupon and she tried to explain why they dont want to except it, but will except it this time only on over priced dinners. We decided not to use the coupon because it was an inconvenience for her, so we ordered a $7.95 and $1.95 taco thinking this would be enough for myself and 11 year daughter. What a joke, 3 plain burritos and one tiny little taco. The waitress wanted to argue with us because she thought we were trying to use a $7.00 coupon on our bill. I was not. Just plain rude service. Very simple menu, not much to choose from. Dont waste your time or money here, go to Mazatlan Restaurant, they are much better.

I think I know why some people dont think this place is authentic. Theyre expecting the same Jalisco (Guadalajara) style Mexican food as every other Mexican restaurant. Those places are authentic to be sure, but so is Mitzil. Its just a different kind of authentic. Ask someone from Texas and someone from Memphis what constitutes "authentic" barbecue, youll get very different answers. As it is with Mexican food. This tastes like the influence is closer to the Southern Mexican border, like more of a Latin American style. Which is good because Im kind of getting tired of the cookie-cutter Mexican restaurants Ive been going to for forever...

Best Mexican food in town. We have been coming here for seven years or so and havent had a bad meal yet. They are a wonderful family and we are proud to help support their business. Service can be a bit touch and go but give her a break, she is running the show! I believe those that werent impressed are not used to authentic Mexican food and have no idea what it really is or tastes like. This place is the real deal and takes me back to all of those summers I spent south of the border.

Unpleasant waitress, possibly the owner, refused (she actually said "NO") to substitute rice for beans. Both of our poorly presented lunch entrees were very dry & the salsa dishes were 3/4th empty, so little hope of choking down the tasteless food with some salsa. The lettuce was brown on the cuts and the slice of tomato was shriveled from exposure. This was a totally unpleasant experience. We will never return to Mizil - I do not recommend it.

Sorry guys, I wasnt impressed. Maybe Im a mexican food snob, but this was NOT the best mexican food ever... we went for lunch and there were maybe 4 lunch choices. There were NO tortilla chips(?), and when I ordered they would not let me add chicken to a quesadilla, or make any changes to any plate. Not sure why, but they would not budge! Probably wont be going back, maybe its better at dinner? Oh, and lunch was over 20 bucks for two people...

We are very happy with Mitzil Loncheria. The food is good, the waitress (I thing the owner) was very helpful in explaining a menu item, we were asked about the spiciness level of our food and was given exactly what we requested. Our eating experience was as though we were eating in a family members home. This is a quaint eatery with very good food. So far the best we have found in the Clackamas area. Would absolutely recommend.

Theres nothing quite like this place, and I regret letting it take so long to try it. The first time I came here, I went back the next day because it was so good. The food is simple, homestyle, and just right. The dishes are flavorful and not too heavy. I enjoyed their Burros, mole poblano, and molotes. I havent had anything I dislike yet. I wish it was a little less pricey so I could come more often. But it is what it is.

When I moved away from Oregon City, leaving Mitzil was at the top of the list of reasons NOT to move. Seriously, this is the best restaurant ever, period. If they were in downtown Portland people would be lined up around the block to get in the door. Whenever Im down from Seattle I go out of my way to go there and eat. EVERYthing is good...I hate shrimp but cant get enough of their shrimp diabla. YUM.

We were very disappointed with the food we ate at Mitzil. I ordered cheese enchiladas which were filled with about 90% onions and 10% cheese. My girlfriend ordered the Burros plate, which ended up just being 3 taquitos, not served with any beans or rice or anything. When you consider the prices being charged at this place, its amazing how little they give you. We wont be going back.

Great food, always fresh not the canned stuff you get at most Mexican places. The only downside I can think of is that when it gets crowded things slow down quite a bit. We eat there on a fairly regular basis and I cant remember a bad meal coming out of the kitchen yet. I havent had better Mexican food anywhere in the Portland metro.

Great food,. The Pollo salad is great, the enchiladas very good. The kids love the tacos and banana shake. Its a family run restaurant not a place for those looking for a Baja fresh or chillies type experience but great if you looking for something more authentic

Mitzil is such an amazing eatery with the friendliest staff and owner, Luce. When you are there you feel like youre in a cute little Mexian eatery with family. They have the most amazing and authentic food! You have to try their Lucados (milkshakes) and Mixteadas!

This small family-run restaurant can be understaffed at times, especially if they get unexpectedly busy. So the service may be slow at times but the food is ALWAYS excellent and the atmosphere homey. The ingredients are fresh and the recipes authentic.

Maybe the waitress was having a bad day but we had absolutely terrible service. The food was just ok, nothing spectacular. We just wanted to have a nice lunch but the lady who was our server was almost nasty. Needless to say we will never go back.

This place is alright.. Some stuff is good, others, eh. Sometimes its better than others. Service is lackluster, hours same.. Some people like the service. Its one of the better spots in the area. Pho Gias decent too. The hot sauces are outstanding.
