Came here for lunch with my parents, my mother has a handicap and as a result difficulty walking. Was very pleased to see all of the handicapped parking spots right in front of the restaurant entrance; coupled with an easily accessible ramp leading directly into the restaurant. The doors are a bit tedious as guests must pass through two separate doors to get in. But once through, there is plenty of egress for wheelchair access and ample room for people who need extra time and help getting in and out of the restaurant. We were seated immediately upon arrival. They asked if wed prefer a booth closer to the front, which I thought was very considerate given my mothers mobility limitations. Drinks were promptly brought out to us, and we ordered lunch. This was my very first experience at Hickory House. I ordered the soup of the day which was a southwestern corn chowder which was delicious, and had a nice spicy kick to it. Our meals came out pretty rapidly, as the lunchtime crowd was on the smaller side. I had their barbecue ribs and they were amazingly good. The house barbecue sauce was not too sweet or too hot, they really nailed the flavor for that one. Everything we ordered was fresh and enjoyable. My only complaint was we all felt rushed - out waitress checking on us more than wed prefer, even to the point of asking if she could take the check away once it was paid as she had to "pick up the kiddos". I can appreciate and respect a busy mother doing her best to keep things flowing smoothly at home, but I was left feeling like we were on her schedule the entire meal, and not our own. This was disappointing, so I could only justify 4 stars. The food was incredible and they do seem to go out of their way to accommodate those with any special needs. However, being rushed through a meal which was intended to have more time for catching up and conversation, was instead frequently punctuated with constant interruptions throughout. This took away the comfort level progressively. So to summate - great food, noteworthy accommodation in and out, but shoved through lunch like herding cattle. If I visit here again, Ill be sure to let the wait staff know that we wish to take our time.

Because when I walked in no one was up front and a customer told me to just sit myself at the bar...well there were only a handful of people in the area...i sat down order at 6:45 the pulled pork with fries to go...now take into mind I start my tips out at $5...7:00 came around 4 people came in...7:10 came around... a couple and a party of 4 came in....so by 7:15 the lady to my right started small talk and then asked me I been waiting long and I said yes since 6:45... she reply what did you order I told her, just the pulled pork sandwich and fries...she sad oh my...so now the people that come in after me have their drinks and some of them have the appetizer....and the lady I was speaking with, they have their salad and I still dont have my food...so at 7:25 I get my food and I leave a 2 tip...the food was hot and good but I shouldnt have had to wait that long... my first time there and I dont know if I will good back....but the food was good, but on the flip side Im about customer service Ive worked in all my life and I feel that it was poor that night....thank you

Theyre always great and the Manager it there and on top of things and the Reynoldsburg location. I like everything Ive tried, but I really love the grilled shrimp appetizer with creole sauce. It is so delicious that Ive thought about going and getting one order after another until Im stuffed. Their rib eye steak is better that any non-Mortons type steakhouse. Im definitely a food snob and have ate at many wonderful places. Ive never had room for desert so I cant comment on it. I mentioned to the owner the I like my ice tea not watered down. They now pour the tea onto ice directly before serving it...Hurrah. I like their bacon/cheddar burger bbqd. This doesnt just mean throw some bbq sauce on it once its done, but they toss some on while its cooking it its great. Their signature salad is wonderful as well with homemade dressing. Theyre very consistent. I also like the Gahanna store. They have some extra items on their menu like blackened chicken alfredo, and parmesan crusted chicken with EXTRA sauce please...Wonderful. Well the wet naps were decent..... The food, not so much. We should have known the experience we would have when it took over 15 minutes for anyone to awknowledge we had entered the place. This was our first time going and perhaps its because we were there an hour before close and they just wanted to go home but the service was choppy, food had zero flavor, it came out cold and everything was so covered in sauce that you couldnt make out where the sandwich started and the sides began. When the waitress asked how things were and we told her the truth she huffed and grumbled and just walked away. Didnt offer to fix anything and didnt come back to check on us again until it was time to pay. Its difficult to give a bad review when we had such high expectations but I simply cant give them any more than a single star. We were very disappointed, especially when the reviews spoke so highly of them. We wont be returning unfortunately.

Will never go back after today...took my aunt and uncle there for their first time today and asked for plain burger and for no pickle to be on plate at all...they brought it out with everything on it and wife was unhappy as we were discussing it the waitress decided to use her bare hand and grab the pickle off of the plate and throw it on spare plate with attitude and acted like we were being a problem...then the manager acted as if she didnt see why we were upset...the waitress had an attitude the rest of the time and the manager never once offered to make things right...finished food still paid full price for everything...we will not return or recommend to anyone again...didnt leave a good impression on my aunt and uncle for their first time there.

Still one of my favorite places for steak. I went once and the steak was over cooked, and someone that I was relatively sure was the owner himself took it so seriously and bent over backwards to bring out another, perfectly cooked steak with a thousand apologies that you can tell this is not normally their standard. Ive since been about 3 more times (I live out of town) and everything has been perfect. The deep fried corn bites are insane, the NY Strip is as good or better than a restaurant that costs twice this amount. Friendly staff, fast service, wonderful place to have a small family gathering and catch up. Get there early, though, because this place packs them in.

Ive been here twice in the past year. Both times the restaurant has appeared clean, the atmosphere has been nice and the service has been ok but .... when we asked specific questions about menu items, the waitress really didnt give responses I had hoped to hear - Telling me menu items are from GFS, that they arent prepared in-house or that the macaroni and cheese is Stouffers does nothing to make me feel good about dining at the establishment. Once you attempt to weed out the prepackaged items from the menu, the food you get still isnt that great. I am really not impressed and wont make the mistake of visiting for a 3rd time.
