The following is my mothers Yelp review, and I completely agree: I have driven past this restaurant several times and became curious so I looked it up on Yelp. The reviews were great and the food pictures made me hungry, so I decided that my son needed a break from working on a midterm paper and I had a block of selenite in my trunk just begging to be carved so...a nice meal was what we both needed. I should have chosen somewhere else. Initially, everything was pleasant, the atmosphere was welcoming and the musician was good. The hostess was very nice, our table was small and wobbly but that seemed to be part of the motif. The bread was tasty, the coffee fresh, we both ordered the special lamb shank. Then we waited, and waited, and waited...after 55 minutes I asked the waitress if it was customary for a lamb shank to take so long. She told me that we had ordered two, so it took longer...I was a bit perplexed on why that would matter (she had told us that it had already been cooking for 48 hours) and wondered why we were not told about how long it would take. Then she told me not to be alarmed if a lamb shank arrived for the table next to us before ours. The table had been there for not even 10 minutes, and had already had their appetizer personally delivered by the chef/owner (who by the way did not even glance in our direction or offer any reason for why we were waiting so long). I told her if that happened I would most definitely walk out. She then left the table and came back with our food minutes later. I was shocked. My lamb was fine, my sons was very fatty...we brought the fat home for the dogs so at least they were happy. I am not sure why we were treated the way we were. An explanation and perhaps an apology from someone other the waitress would be nice. My son is majoring in Food and Cultural Anthropology so he was looking forward to tasting what they had available. Neither of us were impressed. 3/27 - My mothers response on Yelp to the owners comment pretty much sums up how I feel. I do have something to add though, first of all, your waitress basically lied to you. More importantly, I really wish that I had not asked my mother to just relax and let it go since it was Good Friday. She was going to ask for the manager after we were told by the waitress that our food may come out after a table that pretty much arrived an hour after we did (give or take 10 minutes). I also have changed my review from 2 stars to 1 star as a response to the owners comment making our experience a lasting unpleasant incident.

The food was subpar, especially for the inflated prices. We had a reservation for 2:00 pm New Years Eve, and had a confirmation phone call from the manager this morning, so they knew we were coming. They were out of their lunch specials, which left very few choices because of the already limited menu. The service was also subpar, with one order being overlooked. We returned most of the butternut squash soup as unpalatable. The coup de gras was the crab salad. Living in Bradenton, and used to great fresh seafood, I failed to ask my question until after it was delivered and eaten. I asked what type of crab made up the nondescript white blobs, and was told it was "lump crabmeat from Vietnam". I went ahead and paid the check in full, although if it had been another occasion I would have asked for at least a 50% credit to reflect the amount of and true max value of what was eaten. Having the staff loudly eating their lunch close by didnt help either the ambiance, or the servers attentiveness. Overall: epic fail!

Slightly out of the way location, well worth the search! My wife and I love places like this - casual with an eclectic menu and high quality fresh food. The mix in the pieces of art (for sale) and this becomes truly one of a kind. We had lunch there and started with a special Asian platter. Loved everything from the bok choy to the pork dumplings. Very reasonably priced at $8. My wife had the Indian vegetarian dish with chick peas and their own pineapple chutney. Just a bit more than a hint of hot. She loved it. My dish, the crab salad, was outstanding. The crab was perfect, very mild, tender and fresh. The slightly spicy and tart seasoned mayo on the side was also great. So tired of having asparagus that is either hard or mushy, but not here. They did it just right. We were stuffed, but ventured on to the apple fritters for dessert. Nicely crispy on the outside, not at all greasy, with a wonderful caramel sauce drizzled on the plate. Glad we found it. hope you will too!

If you have never had a pear prepared by a master chef, make sure you get the pear for dessert. Owned and operated by the chef and his wife, the delicious creations that they serve will make you want to eat lunch and dinner here every day of the week. Think of it this way, if Emeril Lagasse was your neighbor and he invited you to dinner at his house, would you pass it up? Chef Jim worked with Emeril and a host of other talented chefs in NYC for years. Now he lives right down the street and you have an open invite to taste the recipes he has worked years to perfect. Do yourself a favor the next time you are hungry and discover what love, years of practice, and exquisite attention to detail taste like.

This is my first Google review ever and Im pleased that its for this restaurant--Arts & Eats deserves it. The food and service are both impeccable--truly the best Ive received in Bradenton--and I anticipate repeated trips back here to sample its Tuesday specials. The Tuesday evening crowd was minimal, a bit of live music, and outdoor seating was wonderful. I could see it being a bit bustling on the weekends, located in the Village of the Arts, but the homemade dishes are definitely worth it. Five stars, easily.

We order something different on every visit and always walk away with our expectations exceeded. You can sense that Chef Jim loves to create and has a passion for making his guests happy. Try the flatbreads with hummus, chicken curry, shrimp in the clay pot and carrot cake with lavendar. All delicious!

Wonderful atmosphere, cozy and friendly with amazing food and even more amazing owners. Definitely a memorable place. The owners worked extra hard to fit us in on New Years Eve and their fixed price menu was to die for. The art is so well priced and all beautiful as well.

Tiny restaurant where the owner is the chef and everything is made to order. On the night I went there, nearly everything on the quite eclectic menu appealed to me and I had a difficult time choosing. Luckily, I was with like-minded people, so we shared several entrees.

The Seafood Tagine with black truffle butter noodles and the Japanese Pompano were delicious. Also tried their hummus with lavender lavosh as an appetizer and a chocolate truffle for dessert also did not disappoint. Every bite was heavenly.
