"Driving up to this place, I saw that the cars were flooding into the street. This is my kind of place. It shows that theyve got a little bit of fire and ice. Business and fun at the same time. I got to spit my gum at an incoming car on the side of the street. I was satisfied with my accurate aiming. The cars were moving me slowly towards the order window. My mouth was dry and arid from the tasteless gum that was in my mouth. I moistened my kisser at the thought of tasting a precious "Cheese-rite." I waited five minutes as I slowly moved closer towards the bumpy brick provider of my dearest treasure. I was mere inches away from the wall of this building. I was happy to see that there was a free gum dispenser on the wall. Lucky, because I needed more ammo for my next target practice session. The person at the window asked me what I wanted to eat. I quivered my lips and uttered the sweetest words of desire. "Ch-ch-cheese-r-rite." They gave me the cast of pity, as the look of desperation trickled out of the emotion in my eyeballs. I drove towards the parking lot of the Maid-Rite Sandwich Shoppe. I couldnt wait until the source of my yearning touched my impoverished mouth. The impact of the contact between cheese, rite, and mouth caused my taste buds to go into a frenzy of ecstasy. This was my greatest moment." This is a copy of my Yelp review. I wanted to share my experience with a larger audience.

If you are travelling anywhere near Greenville, this is a must stop. Aside from the continuous drive-thru line that has to witness the nastiness of the gum wall (nostalgia), and the very limited seating area, the burgers are just incredible! Just a hint of sweetness with the cheese, mustard and pickles is a taste that cant be duplicated (I dont like onions). I grew up in Greenville but now live in Columbus, and we take trips back to my hometown just for the Maid-Rite experience (lunch and dinner to make the trip extra special!). And the milkshakes are a must have as well! But you may want to have a designated driver due to the food overdose!

Ok so.....I am from Iowa, home of the original and real Maid-Rite. We went to this one even though its not listed on the official Maid-Rite website based off the reviews and our neighbors.....it is NOTHING like the original. Its bland and just disappointing after you grow up on the real deal. I know the people there love it and the gum wall too, but definitely not what I was hoping for at all. If you have ever had a real Maid-Rite steer clear because these dont measure up at all. On a side note the shakes were good.

We were looking for a place to eat, and came across Maid-Rite. It wasnt what it was hyped up to be. I found that the Maid-Rite sandwich was not at all made right, it was just some bland, loose meat between two pieces of soggy bread. I couldnt even eat the whole thing and left there still hungry. On top of that, they dont even give free refills, or any kind of discount refills for that matter... you have to buy a whole new drink. Yet I must say, the gum wall was pretty cool.

Summer okay
As we were pulling up to the maid rite shoppe it was a small shoppe and i thought ok thats neat. Then we get to the door and see a gum wall? Maybe a tradition idek. As we walk in the smell inside was gross like a dog pound. I immediately took the food to go. I see the sandwiches were loose beef different. Tasted decent. Not the best Ive had and believe me I love my burgers fr. And why no ketchup

Passing through town and someone told me to stop by the maid right. The building is nice and you can sit at the bar if you want so you can just keep ordering more food. The sandwiches themselves are nothing majestic, but are cheap and taste very good in that "I really shouldnt be eating this again" sort of way. Id stop by again if I found myself in town. Be aware they take CASH ONLY.

I walk into this shop last night to fill up on some maid rite sandwiches. There were two tables in it. There were maybe 4 cars in the drive through. I waited for 10 minutes to be acknowledged. I asked for some service had people look at me and continued to be ignored. I dont care how good the food is, if i cant taste it I cant really say

A legendary sandwich popular among locals and people from all over. I grew up on this place and have driven 2 hours many times just to eat here. A loose ground beef sandwich with pickle, onion and mustard is the standard. You cant go wrong with the cheese-rite either. Chips, beers, shakes and a few other sandwiches are also available.

Went to Maid-Rites today after working at my nieces in Winchester, came to the back door, stuck my gum on the wall next to the stoop over the door, been coming to this place since the summer of 88, I have brought many family and friends here, never heard a bad word or non-approval of this place, love it here, always will be back, thanks

They have a very unique take on the hamburger, with loose ground beef instead of being packed into patties. Think sloppy Joe without the slop. Their menu is very simple, and their kitchen very efficient, so although the line gets long it moves pretty quickly. Only gave 4 stars because although it is good, its not spectacular.

Maid-Rites! What a hidden gem this place is. Tucked away from plain sight is this humble hole in the wall that serves loose meat sandwiches or as some say the sloppy Joe without the slop. Inexpensive but amazing are these sandwiches. Bring cash for they dont except cards and good like on your hike to this mouth watering mecha!

The gum wall is a must see if youre in the area or are looking for something unique to see. Their loose meat sandwiches are different compared to the classic hamburger but still very delicious. The lines can get long on the weekends but the wait typically isnt to hateful. Even on the busy days its worth the wait.

Good food. Great loose meat sandwiches. Great malts. An institution. That said its time to end the juvenile practice of placing used chewing gum on the exterior. The everybody does it attitude of some patrons is immaturity Im the extreme. Grow up. Be sure to bring cash, no cards accepted.

A piece of local history that tastes really really great. My parents used to go there in the 30s & 40s! Often imitated (by locals) but NEVER duplicated. The description of loose ground beef on steamed buns simply doesnt do them justice! Dont go here looking for a burger ... MaidRites arent.

A Darke County landmark and a must visit for locals and visitors alike. Grew up in Greenville and have been brought up on this local tradition - which I love. Even though I live in the Columbus area now, the trip back just for a few Cheese Rites is always worth it!

The Maid Rite sandwich is a little ground beef on a cheap store bought bun. I would have to eat about 6 to feel close to full. Cash only??? Join the 21st century. Oh yeah, tried to get a refill for my coke and was told "We dont do refills." Unfriendly.
