I stopped in for lunch one afternoon and found it to be a good overall restaurant. I gave it four stars instead of five because it was good, but the main attraction didnt blow me away. Being from Texas, I judge every barbecue restaurant by its brisket, and the brisket here was just OK. The brisket had a nice smoke ring on it and was tender, but mine was dry and overall lacked flavor. The flavor component was particularly curious because it had such a defined smoke ring I expected it to have more smoke flavor, and I really didnt get that. The sauces were very similar to a Kansas City style sauce. They were very thick and heavily molasses-based. I personally preferred there sweet sauce to the original. The complement of sides or more on the restaurant side than the barbecue joint side that Im used to. I got there at about 11:45 and there was no line but when I left at about 12:15, there was a line 15 people out the door. So, with that being said the locals must really love it. All in all, it was a fine restaurant that I would have no hesitation eating at again, but I expected more out of the actual barbecue.

If this is your first bbq, and you think you dont like bbq, dont give up. Try Ray Rays, Land Yacht, or the joint in the North Market. This was the worst bbq Ive ever had, and I at least like most bbq. The ribs were dry and lacking in flavor beyond a kingsford matchlight chemical smoke flavor. My wifes pulled pork was much the same. The chicken thigh and leg were also dry inside and coated in a syrupy sauce that could hide any flavor. How do you make dry thigh meat? Thats the kind of screwup you have to work at. The mac & cheese was basically banquet frozen bs. The green beans were grey and salty and from a can. This wasnt improved by the soggy bits of overfried bacon. My wifes greens were so salty they were acrid. They reminded me of what I imagine licking a road in winter time would be like. Worst of all, the Shiner Bock was skunked, so I couldnt even wash down the disappointment. I just switched disappointments.

Placed an order 4/8/17 at 11:15-11:30 am to be picked up at 2:30pm. Gave my phone number, name and order - even received my total. Had someone go to pick it up at 2:30 only to be told...they had no order for me, maybe I called another location....the person doing the pickup came back home....I called (the same number I had called earlier) and again was ask number, name..and told they would see if the order was "sent to another location" (why that would ever be done is beyond me but anyways). ..I told this individual I had even received the total for the order. .but bottom line I needed to order it....again placed - the order and was told about 10 minutes....only to be called back about 5 minutes later and told they had no potato salad and would not be ready until around 5:00. All I can say is this should never have happened...I called in early to pick it up at 2:30. And really did not receive an apology.

Undercooked Pork. I had to take a day off work because of the need for frequent lower GI activity. Obviously this would receive negative stars if possible. 7.14.17 Jordan, since you deleted your reply to contact you, I will reply here. I ordered a full slab. I will only say it was in April 2017, because I will not be a catalyst for an employees potential disciplinary action. In my opinion, this should be a cautionary note for appropriate food handling and preparation throughout the corporation. I had paid sick time and I used it. I will say this. I have had no issues with the Shrock/State or McNaughten/Main sites. If anything, the McNaughten/Main was quicker by 14s, 36s and 15s than Shrock/State for half & whole slabs. Those sites would be 3.5.

The young lady who answered the phone was rude. I wasnt sure how many people I could feed by pound. I wish I could have remembered her name. She repeated three times it fed 3 to 4 servings when I asked her three times what does that equate to for people. I will be buying my meat by the pounds as I have lots of people to feed for my party but I chose to go to another location because if she is rude answering the phone when I asked a simple question three times...... I imagine there isnt any love being put into the food and I want my guests to be happy and full of love and not angry for no reason. So thank you for showing me your type of customer service so that I may go elsewhere for my guests and self!

City Barbeque is one of my favorite places to eat. We usually buy the family meal for our family of four and have enough to feed everyone with some left to take home. The staff at this location was extremely friendly and made us feel welcome each time we have visited. I usually have water when eating out, but the sweet tea here is too good to pass up. The food has been hot and delicious every time.

I was driving by and something said I needed to stop... Boy was I glad I did! Have the BBQ Ribs! Catch them before they fall off the bone! With or without BBQ sauce it was excellent! Some of the best Ribs Ive had in a long while! Dont forget the Sweet Tea!!! Atmosphere is very nice and pleasant too! Felt like I was at a home BBQ! What else can I say? Im definitely going back for more!

Ordered online thinking it would allow me to run in and get my food quickly at my designated time. There was only one employee who was working the pre-order station and she had her hands full. It would have been nice of she had an extra set of hands to help her push the larger orders out while the individuals who only had a single order could have gotten their food and gone about their day.

We brought our youth group into City Barbeque, 42 of us, for dinner while visiting Columbus. We got great service and everyone loved the food. We did call ahead so they would be ready for the big group, and they got us all ordered and served very quickly. We will definitely try to stop by next year when we bring our youth group to Columbus again. *****

Dont Eat Here! Worst dining experience ever in Gahanna. White guy behind counter acting all Thug like. No hello, What can I get for you? Nothing, just a stare and tapping his fingers loudly on counter. Really? Employees act like they re doing you a favor if they look at you. We Won t be back!

Great food, all the meats savory and delicious. The sides totally rock. One of my favorite things to for friends and family who are sick or get injured in a car accident etc. is to drop off a couple of days worth of City Meals to show how much I care. Each bite says, I love you!

Great food, friendly service and comfortable atmosphere. To-go options are great for feeding a crowd. This is our go-to for nights when nobody wants to cook dinner or when we have family in town. Get the brisket, hush puppies and sweet tea, youll be in BBQ bliss in no time flat.
