HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! My husband has taken me here a few times and just raves about it. I have to say, I have mixed feelings. We went there this past Sunday. My husband and I showed up first and were expecting two more to join us so we went and got a table for four. When our guests showed up, they brought one more person, so the table we were seated at wouldnt accomodate. The waiter was very nice and told us to go see the front desk to be reseated in the back. My god, it was like we asked them to part the red sea. The two hostesses just stared at us with blank faces for what had to have been a solid two minutes before actually saying that it would be a moment. Well, a moment turned in to 30 minutes!!!! They didnt bother to check up on us to say it would be another moment or that they were waiting for guests to leave to open up a table. There had to have been 15 empty tables!! When we finally got seated (again) the waitress took anther 15 minutes to get our drinks to us. Then she didnt bother to write our orders down and of course had to come back to our table twice to ask us what we ordered. All in all the atmosphere stuck of "Im too good to be working here and talking to you." and "How dare you ask me to accomodate 5 people". Very sad. Ill probably not go back.

Ok, Ill admit we have a smoker and make our own barbecue at home. I knew going to a restaurant couldnt be as good as the stuff that we pull fresh off the smoker. That said, I had heard really good things about Barleys, and I was expecting reasonable Ohio barbecue. I ordered a 1/4 slab of St. Louis ribs, 1/4 of a smoked chicken, mac and cheese, and beans. The chicken was some of the driest chicken Ive ever had. It literally squeaked when you chewed it, it was so dry. The ribs were tough, dry, and cold in the middle. Both meats didnt taste like smoke had ever touched them, and had obviously just been quickly reheated. The smoky sauce was ok, but it couldnt mask the taste of pork and chicken that had been in the fridge for at least a few days. The beans were the best part of the meal, the mac and cheese was straight-up Velveeta on pasta. Like other reviewers said, the beer was really good (we ended up getting a growler of the Molly Red Ale to bring home). So go for drinks, but seriously Applebees has better bbq than this..

I WILL NEVER EAT AT BARLEYS AGAIN…!!! I work right down the street from Barley’s and have eaten there several times within the last 5 years. Today at lunch went in and had a nice fellow wait on a few of us from the office. So the soup of the day was tortilla soup. I have never tried that soup or any other soup at Barleys. So I ask the waiter if he could go get me a small spoon full to sample, to make sure I liked it before ordering. The waiter came back and said his manager said “We are not Baskin Robbins” and he was not allowed to bring me a sample..!! So instead of a small bite size sample, he handed me a spoon that was dipped in the soup and said I could lick the spoon to taste it, per his manager. Now the funny thing is I along with my co-workers were very loyal customers to Barley’s. After today and the RUDE MANAGER COMMENTS, I WILL NEVER GIVE BARLEY’S MY BUINESS AGAIN..!! SHAME ON THEM FOR SUCH POOR MANAGEMENT AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Consumers beware of Barleys and their terrible service.

Food was good, but the service was terrible!! Starting with the hostess who saw we had a 2 year old and immediately sat us with no personality and didnt offer a high chair or a booster. She seemed like it was a bother when we asked for one then as we told my son to say thank you she completely ignored everything and walked away. She was also just leaning on the door frame on her phone. The waiter hardly ever came around...we never got refills and he only came to take drink orders, take our order, ask once if the food was okay, and then when we asked for the check. No personality. It seemed as though because we were not drinking we were unimportant. My appetizer also came out with my meal, which defeats the purpose. I liked the food, but will not be back because of the service. Oh, and to top it there was hardly anyone there, so its not like they were too busy and, in fact, had plenty of time to offer good service.

Its ok, not great. Could do better with the atmosphere. The overall feel of the backroom is dungeon-esque. It doesnt have to be that way. I liked the beer; there were some that you dont always find on tap. However, the range of beer styles was limited. This is especially true given the types of beer pairings that generally match the food they serve. They need to offer some lighter colored beers (lagers and such). Wings were pretty good, but the sauces werent. Except for Kansas city bbq sauce. Asparagus fries were as expected. But the brisket was dry. Maybe I just dont care for brisket much, but it needed lots of sauce. Definitely better as a sandwich. But not with provolone, which is what their menu had. On the plus side, service was great! Overall, I would say that its worth going to for some $0.70 happy hr wings with Kansas City BBQ sauce and a beer. Just be sure to sit up front or on the patio.

Ordered the Chipotle Humus and a Blackened Bleu burger. The Chipotle Humus tasted like it was made of something other than chickpeas and the spice was uninspiring, faintly hot. Maybe I read the description wrong? The grilled pita that came with it was fairly disappointing. The burger was ordered medium rare but arrived charred with two pieces of onion about 1 cm in length each, unsure how that constitutes adequate topping for my burger. The bun was a bit damp on the bottom, the meat was oversized for the bun and the flavor was bland. The horseradish mashed potatoes were bitter without any of the usual zest of real horseradish. Another person accompanying me picked up his burger and watched as it gushed liquid out onto his plate. I didnt finish anything. I wont come back here for another meal.

The wings are wonderful. However, I was very disappointed in the barbeque. The brisket was bland and chewy. I got a sampler, so I also got the baby back ribs. There was actually a decent amount of work that had to be done to tear them off the bone, but the taste wasnt horrible. I didnt eat much of this meal. i tasted the girlfriends burger, and it was just ok. I will go back for the wings but stay away from the BBQ. The server was pretty good. He asked about my food since I didnt eat much of it. I was just honest and said I didnt care for it. He told the manager and they took most of my meal off the bill. I told him that was unnecessary and he can put it back on. I dont think the restaurant screwed up, I just think that their food wasnt that good. Oh well, I will go back for wings and beer.
