I decided to try Butt Shack based off of the previous "reviews" of others and figured they deserved a shot. What ensued was the WORST experience I have ever had in any restaurant anywhere I have been in the country. First off, when I go to a place that advertises itself as a BBQ restaurant, I expect to find BBQ as their main focus, not an absolute cluster of non-BBQ place offerings. Their BBQ was on the inner part of the menu, off to the right, relegated into a corner. Every other dish they offered came first. And where were the sides listed? On the back of course. Makes sense. Also, why call yourself a BBQ restaurant, if you dont offer any real selection like nearly every single real BBQ restaurant I have ever been to. A meat, a side or two, cornbread. Do they even offer cornbread? I didnt see any. It was nice to see the waitress as confused about the menu as we were. The food. The Jalapeno Poppers were terrible. Soggy, under cooked bacon that was supposedly smoked. Sorry, but going across the street to Kroger and buying smoked bacon and wrapping it around a Julienned piece of jalapeno does not cut it. I ordered a Reuben, yes a Reuben at a place that advertises their BBQ first. It was about what I would expect from Arbys if they absolutely messed it up. The fries were under cooked as well and my wifes pulled pork sandwich was fairly average even by her standards and of course, she didnt have to worry about her fries because they never came out. Oh, and better make sure you like the sauce you picked because they are not on the table and you have to ask the waitress, who acts like nobody has ever asked to try the sauces before. All in all, if you find Applebees or Chilis to be an acceptable dining experience, head on over the Butt Shack. If you want real BBQ or even just all around better food and service, drive a bit further. EDIT: I feel I should add a bit more given the deflection of a response. Funny, ketchup is left on the table, but somehow sauces arent acceptable or healthy. Secondly, didnt answer the issues with the jalapeno poppers, which seem to be a faily common complaint here and the service, which was/ is also common complaint. Also, by count, more than half of your menu items are not BBQ and dont use the word related because nachos with BBQ sauce does not make them BBQ or even related. Restaurant 101, too many items on a menu causes 1, subpar food prep, 2, slower service times and 3 a confusing mess of a menu.

Family fun night brought us to try this new small business restaurant. We love trying new places, ans this one was great. Our server was Michelle (according to our receipt) was friendly and attentive. We decided to order a few entrees and sides and all of us tried a little of each. First up is the Poutine, my sons top choice. The two fried eggs on top were perfectly sunny side up. Next: Jumbo smoked wings, my top pick. We ordered them with a sampling of sauces, which our server explained each one to us. Definitely top notch house Bbq and honey bbq but the best part is these Smoky and juicy wings didnt need any sauce! Next is the pulled pork; I didnt find the meat by itself that flavorful, after you put some of the Bbq sauce on, it turns into smokey goodness. Now to the rib tips: Daughter favorite and my runner up, some were crunchy some were fatty and juicy, all were delish. For sides we had French Fries (hot and crisp) Mac n Cheese (good stuff) and Loaded Potatoes which I think you should change the menu name to Smothered Smashed. So for four mains, three sides four beverages (no booze) and a kids meal the tab was just shy of $70 and we went home with A LOT of leftovers.

Upon arrival the young man seated us. You could clearly see the clumps of food and cellophane straw wrappers. We thought he may get a towel and wiped them down. Nope. We found a stack of napkins and cleaned them ourself in anticipation of good smoked food. Service was beyond slow. The kid came to take our order clearly seeing the clump of dirty napkins we used to wash our seats Yep he left them no bother to clean them up either. We did finally get our food. The brisket was ok a bit on the tough side. The pork was mostly the charred outer that most restaurant know should be cut off and scrapped as it contains mostly cancer causing agents. The shack slaw was good. The Saratoga chips and fries were both cold. We watched our waiter crawl on the floor to clean up a forgotten sticky mess. After doing so with no hand washing he served the people behind us their food. That really topped it off for us. The menu has much to be desired. It was confusing. No meals everything is order individual. It wasnt a good experience for us. It was our first and last.

After going to the spot in Green Hills I was excited to see they were opening a new location in Fairfield. I went on a Friday afternoon for lunch, there was no wait. The waitress was very sweet and did a nice job. Now on to the important part...the MEAT! I ordered the pulled pork sandwich. The pork really had no flavor to it. Almost positive it wasnt smoked and it was pretty dry, the jerk sauce saved it, the sauce was my favorite part. Pricing wasnt too bad for the lunch special at 6.50 for sandwich and decent fries. The slaw isnt very good at all, doesnt taste like its house made.Their sides are priced wayyy to high at 3.50 a piece. The building still looks mostly like the previous restaurant, I think its way to big for a BBQ place and it just doesnt have the down home feel like the last place. Overall I might come back Ill give them some time to become better and get used to the new place.

Were here for the first time and loving it. This place is a superb homegrown barbecue joint. The food is 5 star, with great ribs, generous sides, and an impressive beer selection. Theyre a small retro looking place, with charm, smiles, a great staff. Its on the Green Hills square, which explains the down side from a perfect 5. Authenticity comes with limited seating, parking, and they were out of my first choice (1/2 a barbecue chicken). Plus the ribs had to finish so we waited an extra 20 minutes for food. But wow it was good!! Ribs so hot off the grill we had to wait for them to cool; a half slab of baby backs bigger than most chain restaurants full slab. Pulled chicken that was moist, with a great homemade sauce. Any night but Friday at 6:30 and Im certain theyd have 5 stars.

Place is a joke! Let me start off by saying our visit we got there about 9pm they dont close until 12am (11:30pm kitchen) ok so we get there not busy at all maybe 1 or 2 tables max and maybe 4 ppl at the bar. So we get seated and played the waiting game for about 20-25mins before WE had to ask the host if we had a waitress because we have not been waited on another 5-10 min finally we get one. Then go to order ribs I was told "oh sir sorry were out of ribs" ok so go to order wings slow cooked ones told the same thing go to order the "traditional " wings sir were out of those aswell. LMAO ok so at this point just give me a burger. I would give 0 stars if I could place is a hole in the wall joke food sucks worst service I might of EVER had will never go back!!
