My family and I were not allowed to taste the food unless we were wiling to sacrifice our dignity. I am black. My husband is White. Our children, ages 9,9, and 8, are, of course, bi-racial. When we walked into this rather large establishment, I walked up to the hosts stand and announced that we needed a table for 6. There were at least 3 tables large enough to accommodate us in the "front room" to the right. However, I was told that they would need to clean a table for us. I thought nothing of it and waited. Five minutes passed and still, no table. My mother-in-law, who is from Germany, inquired about the wait. The host asked her "how many", not realizing that this white woman was actually a part of my family. When my mother-in-law told her that we had already been waiting, she was told that it would just be a few more minutes. Approximately 3 minutes later, someone came to show us to our table, located towards the large room to the left. We passed 4 cleaned and set-up tables that were large enough to accommodate our family; went passed the large room to the left; and was shown to a table in the back corner of yet another room located in the back of the establishment. My mother-in-law and I immediately protested and refused. Instead we sat at one of the tables in the large room to the left. In less than a minute, we decided that I would not tolerate this treatment. My husband, who know immediately of what was really happening, was already gathering up the children and taking them back to the car. While he and his mom took the children, I asked to speak with the manager. I explained to her what happened and told her that, before I took to social media, I wanted to give her the opportunity to explain their seating procedures and to explain why we were given that particular table. She tried to say that the first few tables were not large enough, but I then walked her to the area that we were taken to and pointed out all the available tables that we past to get to our designated table. She then said that she would speak with the host to see what happened, and I accompanied her to hear the excuse. Obviously flustered, the host claimed that she was trying to give "Dylan" a table, which made no sense. There are only two tables in that room and most restaurants simply split the tips equally between the staff at the end of the day. The manager then apologized for the fact that "we had to wait for a table". She then offered to seat us in the front room to the right "where it would be much cooler for us". She obviously did not understand or did not want to acknowledge the problem. We were not upset because "we had to wait for a table". We were upset because we were MADE to wait for a BACK table located in the BACK corner, of the BACK room of the restaurant. That is the problem. It is a shame that in this day and age, that patrons are treated this way based on the color of their skin or whom they decide to fall in love with and marry. It is very sad that management would actually treat children this way. What message would my husband and I be sending to our children if we had remained silent and simply took the table that was giving to us....that they should be embarrassed of who they are and should be hidden away from the public? We refused. Instead, when our kids asked us why we walked out, I reminded them of what they have learned from Martin Luther King; the civil rights movement; and how it was actually illegal at one point in time, for Mommy and Daddy to even be married. Unfortunately, we still have to deal with some pretty ignorant people. Hopefully, this experience was a reminder to our children that so many people have sacrificed and died for their right to be treated with respect and dignity. They should never allow any one to attempt to make them feel ashamed of who they are. This is 2015 for, goodness sake. Shame on you, Williamson Brothers for attempting to live in the past, instead of embracing the future.

This place is HORRIBLE...food is awful.....first the place smells awesome while your walking to the door.....get inside and that changes. My grandmother & great-uncle visit Williamsons BB-Q THREE times a week sometimes but for sure Sunday. Keep telling me what I am missing I need to go ....well My fiance took me let me tell you we gave it a chance even with the smell. Service was HORRIBLE, drinks watered down and you have to pay for refills....portions were small & way OVER PRICED....we still pushed on. Food came to the table what was supposed to be Pulled pork was not sure but looked like a pile of mush potatoes on menu said home made sure RIGHT OUT OF A BOX! VEGGIES lacked color and were overcooked. Sent it back . Manager says sorry we dont discount any meals sent back told him that was not my intention I just want something that resembles food. HE/SHE got and attitude. Oh & he informed me they automatically include the tip especially when someone complains. I get my "FRESH" food and it was just as bad if not worse. My fiancé had ribs now who can mess those up? WILLIAMSONS BB-Q...We told the manager we were not going to eat they said they do not comp any meals. So we paid for food that was HORRIBLE and not eaten I mean totally one small bite not half our drinks only had a sip out of them. Now I know there are a couple locations they are owned by the same person and we asked if we could speak to the owner they said oh he is not involved and we dont give out is info or name.... We only wanted to speak didnt ask anyway did some research but no one EVER contacted us back. Now the worst part....we live literally less than 200 yards from the place.

Somewhat disappointed in the chopped chicken platter. I was expecting chicken, chopped into perhaps small cubes or slightly larger pieces, but this chicken was shredded and just borderline of pulverized. There was not much smoky flavor to the chicken and it was a bit dry. They covered it with their signature original sauce which I found to be very tart and with a taste of vinegar. I found out afterwards that they have additional barbecue sauces, but I did not know that until the end of the meal. The BBQ baked beans were very tasty. The dish was rather small however. The corn on the cob was typical although at 3 inches long, a bit small. I ordered a salad before the meal, and it was large with a variety of fresh vegetables and croutons. Homemade Italian dressing was very good. For dessert I had the coconut cream pie, which was flavorful, with fresh cream, and a very good size piece. The service was excellent, and my waitress was accommodating. Everything was served in separate dishes. It wouldve been easier to eat if everything was on one big plate. It is my understanding that they are known for their pork. I would not recommend the chopped chicken. Perhaps one of the other meats would be tastier. The entire meal which also included sweet tea was around $23.
