The FireHouse Cook
I finally got a chance to visit this restaurant last week, and I was not disappointed. Company 7 BBQ is a firefighter family owned restaurant located near Dayton Ohio. The inside of the restaurant is tastefully decorated with firefighter memorabilia, including a vintage fire truck as a bar! Included is a small game room for the kids, as well as a banquet room that can be rented free of charge for special events. The atmosphere inside is very fun and family friendly. Now for the most important stuff...the food! Their bbq is slow cooked for 12-18 hours. This slow cooking process allows the meat to be super tender and full of flavor. They also have developed their own series of sauces that highlight different regions of American bbq style. You can read more about their sauces by visiting their website. I decided to try their ribs and stuffed baked potato. First off, the ribs. Theribs get rubbed with their signature "Rescue Rub" and then are slow smoked with hickory wood. These morsels of meaty deliciousness are tender and perfect by themselves, but pair them up with one of their sauces and the flavor goes off the charts. Next was the baked potato. This is a large potato that gets stuffed with your choice of smoked meats. I chose the pulled pork, and was not disappointed. Just like the ribs, the pulled pork was super tender and packed with flavor. Top the potato with loads of cheddar cheese and Company 7s house smoked bacon and you have one insane spud. My favorite of the sauces is the Captain Carolina, which complimented this dish amazingly. Each of these dishes were rounded out with equally delicious side dishes and a slice of Texas toast. If you are ever in the Dayton area, you owe it to yourself to try Company 7 BBQ. Even if you are not in the area, its worth the drive to check them out.

I grew up in the area and was back visiting family on vacation. I wanted to treat my mother and brother out and they suggested we go to your establishment and assured me it was good. I liked the decor and the fact that I got a "hero discount" there. Our server, a cute teen girl, tended not to come by our table a lot and didnt get out appetizer right. I dont eat pork at all and we asked for potato skins, done half only cheese, and half regular, and kept separate. All 4 came together with various states of bacon. We sent it back to be corrected and the manager did so but without apology. I ordered a turkey hotshot and my mother and brother ordered brisket and fries. Their fries came out ice cold and so did my hotshot. The manager took back the fries, again no apology, and left the hotshot. I had to send it back with the waitress. What came back was lukewarm DRY turkey, very little dressing, and piping hot mashed potatoes. The portions on everyones plates were tiny considering how much they cost. In TX where I live now, a smokehouse serves good sized portions at the same cost as your place. I was unimpressed with the food at Company 7. My plate was awful. The food was pretty awful. The manager, not very personable, and nothing done to our bill to adjust for the bad experience other than my 10%. I would never recommend your place to anyone I know, and probably never eat there again. My mother and brother were quite displeased by the service this time and had your points reward card but said theyd be hard pressed to want to return after this. POOR customer service, even poorer quality food. Tastes like microwaved reheats.

Food was good. Different sauces are good. They do tend to run out of food items. The sandwiches were a large serving size. Staff was friendly. Update: Went a second time, this time they were having New Holland beer company "taking over". They advertised glassware with a pint of their beer, when we asked about the glassware, the waiter they said it was only for the IPA (not an IPA fan). That was not clear in the online links. If we would have known this, we would not have made the trip. Even though New Holland was there we never met them, they were too busy drinking and entertaining their friends at the table next to us. The food was not as good this time, the meat was dry (we had the pork, the brisket, and the turkey) and all three were dry. The waiter didnt know what special was being displayed on their digital sign outside. We asked a question and they could not tell us. We ended up switching to another waitress half way through, no real reason given. One special was order 2 entrees and get a desert for free. The weird thing was the waitress didnt mention that when she asked if we wanted desert. Only when we point blank asked, then she said "yes, it would be free for you". Why not volunteer or remind us in the first place? Cannot think of a good reason to go back, others handle the tap take overs a lot better and others have better BBQ.

Went there on 7/20/13 while in town to go the the Air Force Museum. Coincidentally, it was my sons birthday and he, like me, loves ribs. Reviews were kinda lukewarm, but I found it to be very good. All the food was hot and came out fairly quickly. Though this was 6:30 p.m. on a Friday, it wasnt very busy, so one would expect everything to be fine. My son and I got the half rack with two sides. My sides were beans and an excellent and fairly large side salad. My younger son got the assorted sliders (pork, chicken, brisket), which he said were good with a couple issues. Number one, there served on dinner roles when, in fact, actual slider roles are everywhere ( but here). That was lame. Secondly, although he said the meat was very tasty, it was not a very large amount on each slider-quite skimpy. We also ordered the homemade Saratoga chips (the potato chip was invented in Saratoga Springs, NY) as an appetizer. First off, 4.99? Ive gotten similar chips back home in bars for less than half that. They were rock hard and they overdid the spices. My recommendation-pass on the chips. Ribs were $13.95, pretty much the going rate, give or take a dollar. I do recommend the place, just take care what you order-skip the sliders, too. I give them 3 1/2 stars.

This place is really cool. Especially if you are in the fire service or a family member of the fire service. All sorts of cool antique fire items on the wall. But the pride and joy of the place sits behind but is part of the bar. It is a retired fire truck. As for food, they have some really good food. Meat was nice and tender and they have really good different kinds of sauses to go with the tender meat. I believe by the end of the night I started to mix a couple together because I didnt know what sause I wanted. And on a side note (being a firefighter/paramedic) they have a good fundraiser. The fundraiser they have is to help people gain their fire certification, emt certification, or to become a police officer. You dont see that much now a days, and this really helps us volunteer, paid, and/or part timer firefighter/EMS out. I would definitely stop over here if you are in the area or looking for a good reason to come that way.
