Ive been to the Vaqueros in Delaware, OH and Ive always been completely and totally thrilled with them, so when my boyfriend and I were down in Polaris we decided to try the one here. The first thing we noticed when we walked in was how cheap the place looked. It mightve been because they were cleaning (which they were doing while we were eating) but half the room was a big open spot, in which they were sweeping countless crackers and gross food into the middle. The decor reminded me of something run down and a bit tacky; nothing like the Mexican feel Ive gotten from the other resteraunts. It took our waiter a good several minutes to even acknowledge we existed to get us our drinks and the reason for his dillydallying soon became obvious as he was following a waitress around like a lost puppy the entire time we were there. The first thing I noticed when looking at the menu was that my favorite Fajitas were, at minimum, $10 more expensive than at Delaware. Deciding to forego that idea we got burritos instead, which the waiter insisted had the fajita meat, mushrooms, tomatoes, and peppers inside of it. The burrito arrived with the meat chewy yet burnt (dont know how that happened), there was not a single bell pepper, mushroom, or tomato on the inside, and it was nothing but beans and rice. (which wouldve been yummy anyway had it been anything other than a rice/bean/burnt meat burrito) I was thoroughly disgusted with myself for even suggesting to my boyfriend we go here, and I know I will not make that mistake again with anyone else.

Today my wife spit out a used cigarette butt from her burrito. No, Im not making this up. In over 30 years of dining, Ive never experienced something this foul before. They took the butt from her plate and placed it behind the bar, and offered to comp her entree, but then the host heard what was going on and thankfully offered to take care of the entire meal. Sadly, I was told the owner wasnt working at the time, nor was there any real manager I could speak with. They asked me to fill out a comment card and put my phone number on it. I still have not heard from anyone. I have had many great meals here, but I dont think Ill ever be able to dine here again after something this bad. I cant even imagine how something like a cigarette butt finds it way into the kitchen, not to mention actually into the ingredients. Be warned.

Salsa was too spicy to eat. Server said she kept hearing that from other tables. Food was screwed up, my sisters chimichanga came out with beef, supposed to be chicken. Was not fried, so server took it back. My food came out after everyone else was done eating, too spicy to eat. It was just a chimichanga, refried beans were spicy. Not the only one who felt that way. They were not busy, took 2 hours between food and getting check. No appetizers or dessert. Didnt even have a manager come over to the table. Our waitress was new, so don t blame her, quality of food was very poor. Was not impressed.

The WORST one I have EVER been to. The chips and queso were the highlight of the meal. From the moment we walked in, the hostess just stared and didnt even greet us. The server knew nothing and was completely rude. The two types of tacos we got were flavorless. When I asked the server for an extra plate she rolled her eyes. We each had jumbo margaritas and were never offered a 2nd or more water. When the cashier asked us how our service was and we told her she just said "oh really?". We will not be back to this location. Plenty of others around town with better service.

This used to be one of my favorite places for dinner with friends, but the last few times have been disappointing. Im not sure if theyve gotten a new supplier or what but the food quality seems to have gone down hill. The chips and salsa were my favorite part, but the past 3 or 4 visits the chips have been stale. Im sure Ill keep going and hoping for a return to the good days, but they dont have too many more chances.

Service was good, but my food was cold (dish #33) and side lettuce was not fresh and was smothered in guacamole topped with sour cream and a thick sliced tomato. Id expect a tomato to be diced, and my guac, lettuce and sour cream to be fresh and separated if decided to put on my quesadilla, but definitely not salad worthy. Plate presentation was low, and hey! I got beef with my shredded chicken.

One of the employees constantly asks my wife for her phone number when she eats there. It got so bad that she stopped eating there. I called and notified the manager and he said he would look into it and call back. Its been over a month a not a word from the manager. Women should avoid eating here if they do not like being harassed and touched by male servers. Avoid at all cost!

Service is terrible. Silverware was gross. The floors havent been swept in days you can tell. I had steak fajita nachos. Not bad except for they forgot to put steak in it. My friends had the chicken fajita express and the steak fajita express. None of us had meat or chicken with our meals. The server was told about this and laughed and walked away. Never again.

I know were in Columbus and its far away from Mexico, but this is really not a good representation of Mexican food. I dont think the owners have even been to Mexico. The food was bland, and just doesnt taste as it should. I dont know what else to say. The only good thing they have going for them is that its a cheap meal.

Great choices on the menu, excellent hot food, nice decor, all go to make this a regular destination for my wife and me. Authentic? Who is to say what is authentic? Mexico is a huge, diverse country, and food is diverse, but the servers and cooks are Mexican and very polite and friendly.

Area was not very clean. Food on seats and on the floor. Food was very bland. Rice was dry and hard. Service was passable, though they did not refill water unless asked specifically. Ordered Vegetarian Chimichanga, which had a very strong avocado flavor and not much else. Do not recommend.

The staff is always nice and if you are looking for the best cheese sauce and margaritas in Columbus, go to Vaqueros!! P.S.- I find the staff at Riverside Dr and the location in Delaware are the friendliest/fastest - awesome value, too! -Cindy

Prices are reasonable, but food on many occasions is overly salty and sides (guac, rice, refried beans) seem to have been prepared in large amounts and sat out all day. Service is EXCELLENT and food is served to the tables quickly.

Bad experience. Food was not good at all, atmosphere is just blah, server was M.I.A. for the majority of our stop, took forever to get the check. Shrimp enchiladas were disgusting, al pastor tacos were burnt....go somewhere else.

Very good food. I was spoiled living in Denver for ten years but this place seems quite authentic. Their queso is excellent. Ive had the cheese smothered chimichanga and a dish with chorizo and pineapple and both were very good.
