My family and I have been going here for years just last month when we went our car was broken into in the "guarded" parking lot. Our car was the first car next to where the guard was "on duty" and yet out car was still broken into. When we went out to the lot and discovered it the guards response to us was "I know" when we went in to speak to a manager they said it happens all the time and would not review any of the tapes they supposedly have in the lots. After trying to get a hold of the owner we were finally able to and his response was it is not his fault that our car was damaged and broken into on his property that is suppose to be guarded. they never once tried to apologize and were completely rude about the whole situation. Im sorry but if cars are getting broken into all the time on your lot and your guard cant protect it no sense in paying a guard to sit there and watch cars get broken into and at least have the decency to be polite about the situation! Needless to say we will NEVER be going back there again!!!!!!

Location: Fantastic! It is right on Bagley and 18th, and there is a free lot parking right across the street. Inside: Friendly, surprisingly bright when they let the sun in (in a good way..this is Michigan), and very casual. Food: I always enjoy the food. I have been disappointed time and time again when trying to find a good tasting Mexican restaurant in Michigan. But then I found Mexican Village Restaurant, and they are great. I recommend their chimis! Oh, their chips are excellent too. Nothing is more disappointing than going to a Mexican restaurant that serves crappy chips. People: The servers are great, but there is this hostess there that is cold and kind of rude. Every time she takes my order for carry out she charges me for every last little request - including a couple lemon wedges for 1.50, and a few chips and salsa (could have told me salsa comes with the meal). Over all this place is worth the trip from the burbs. There are many great places to go in Detroit, and this is one you should try at least once.

The service was very bad. My soup and entre came at the same time and five minutes before my husbands. The entre was not what i ordered but when i told the waiter he argued with me then said he would check in the kitchen. He came back from the kitchen and said i didnt correctly specify my choice - i did. I asked to speak to a manager but he didnt bother getting one for us. Finally we paid and as we were leaving the manager asked if everything was ok. I said no and told her why. She said "well you paid for it so i cant do anything for you now, you should have told me before you paid" . Bad service is one thing but this perverse disregard for customer satisfaction shocked me. Plus the food was not great, though in fairness it wasnt what i ordered.

For those that say its not safe, stay home in the suburbs, more seating for me and my friends. For those that say its not "real" Mexican food, all I know is that its "real" good. Those that say its not a place to go with your family, excuse me as I get my grandmother a seat and my kid a high chair. My parents came here in the 70s, I ate here at least once a week for several years, now that I no longer live in Detroit, I actually crave it and must have it every time Im back. I wont tell you what I order, but Ill give you a hint, its the only thing they call "Excellent" (with beef and cheese). Ive searched long and hard in all the towns that I have lived in and still have not found anything that comes close to Mexican Village.

Only rating on tonights service. The guy that was sitting people was very rude. He made us stand at the door for over 10 mins while many tables were open and available. When I asked why we werent being seated he was quick with an attitude. I had mentioned all the open tables and even different areas that didnt have anyone. He still had us stand longer and refused to sit us. After so long he finally did in an open area that I originally mentioned. there was no need as they had plenty of room and the tables were clean. After being sat we asked for a high chair and you could clearly see how annoyed they were over nothing. Poor service. I come here a lot and Im very disappointed in how we got service.

I had high hopes! Moving to Michigan from California I seem to be on a never ending quest to find good Mexican food. The pros: The staff was nice and the ice water was refreshing. (the only reasons for 2 stars instead of 1) The cons: Bland bland bland. The chips where stale. The salsa was bland. Everything tasted like it was out of a can. Slice imitation cheese should NEVER be used on Mexican food! The wet burrito sauce was some sort of tomato sauce. And the food its self was luke warm. The ambience itself was nice. But the food...no bueno. The quest continues! Come on Michigan theres gotta be a good Mexican food restaurant around here!!

This has always been my favorite Mexican restaurant in Michigan! Even when busy, youll be seated fast. Expect delicious food, they are a little heavy with sauce and cheese but I love that! Unfortunately, during my latest visit I met a manager who was borderline rude to my friend. The waitress was very friendly and professional though! I had the Seafood Quesadillas with a side order of rice with cheese. My friends ordered the Beef Enchilada and a chicken dish with no sauce, cheese only (I cant remember the name). I also had the Wild Berry Frozen Margarita with sugar on the rim. It was not strong at all, but it had a great flavor!

Theres a lot of confusion in these parts about which restaurant in Mexican Village is the best. Well I know the answer to that and its the restaurant actually called Mexican Village! Unlimited salsa that is so addicting you may want to just pick it up the little bowl and drink from it. A drop never goes to waste. Also the chips are always hot. Service is fine and the food is cheap. Im always amazed to see how full we are when we leave and how small the bill actually was. But I need to reiterate, this place has the best salsa around.

Detroit . The most dangerous city in the United States. They have to have a security guard watch your car while you eat. Or it will be gone . If you have a gun and your not out on a date this place is a good stop. Maybe after drinking and it is a guys night out. Not a place to take a girlfriend or family. The food is not bad. but it is nothing to write home about. The prices considering the location and the general condition of the place are PRICEY . The same could be said for any of the 5 to 10 places which make up Mexican Town.
