This place has dishes BURSTING w/ flavor like I’ve never tasted before. An absolute exotic and delectable treat! Wow. Stopped in here by chance and left thinking that it may very well have been the best Indian food Ive ever had (and: I’ve actually BEEN to India)??!! What made it stand out for me were the unique offerings; a step up & beyond the atypical Tikki Masala, Chicken Curry etc. (all of which I relish as it is BTW). The eggplant dish (BAGARA BAINGAN - eggplant in a creamy peanut sauce w/ a hint of coconut) was out of this world. CHETTINADU Goat was ridiculously tasty and I relished the bone-in pieces, as that inclusion enhanced its “twang” all the more. And, my husbands pick was equally outstanding - METHI CHICKEN (a curry dish that was comparable to Butter Chicken only w/ considerably more zest spice-wise). I’m not sure what folks are talking about when it comes to the service aspect, b/c in our case, we were deluged w/ attn. from everyone working there as far as I could tell, incl. the owner and cook. Had a Lucky Horse beer which complimented the meal and was equally individual in flavor. The last observation relates to the savory assortment of additional treats that accompany each ‘platter.’ I can’t say that I know what they all were, but they too were ambrosial! LOVED IT. Can’t wait to go back and try more new dishes.

I honestly wish I could have had the opportunity to give an honest review based on the offerings from this restaurant. However, last evening my wife and I ordered several entrees from Dakshin for delivery through a service called Bite Squad. After an hour, and after tracking the progress of the order through the delivery service, we received a call stating that due to lack of both lamb and chicken, none of the order could be fulfilled, nor could any substitutions be made as the restaurant was about to close. We werent notified of this until long after the order was placed. Also, our account was debited (almost $60!) and a refund would not be forthcoming, but, would be available in 3-5 business days. Obviously, we found this to be unacceptable, but, there was nothing that could be done. Thankfully, Bite Squad, offered a $15 credit towards our next order. I really was looking forward to trying the food here, but, after the foul up last night, I probably wont make another attempt. Too bad. My 1-star review comes with an asterisk.

The food is the only good part of this restaurant that prevented a 1 star review. You know its going to be a bad night when your server/owner takes 10 minutes to greet us. We were asked right away if we were ready to order, umm dont you need to ask what we want to drink first? Food took forever to come out, never offered a refill on our sodas, they forgot the naan (which is listed as a part of every entree order), overcharged us for the upgraded naan (which they did correct), and basically ignored us the entire night. I watched a table of 3 next to us get up and leave after sitting for 20 or more minutes with no service. Im really sad because I wanted so badly to have a nice Indian restaurant to go to on the east side of Columbus, but you are better off driving farther to get better service. In the end the food was tasty, but I cant even recommend take out as I witnessed multiple long waits and wrong take-out orders as we sat. This is the worst service that I have received in as long as I can remember.

The food is easily deserving of a 5 star rating. If you do take out you will not be disappointed, and its about time there was an Indian place around here! The service on the other hand was a 3 star. We were there for 20 minutes before someone took our order, and then when the order came out it was missing the naan (took another 20 minutes for that to come out). The manager/owner eventually came over and started assisting us and was very apologetic and even gave us a free sample of their mango drink. I guess one of their servers got in an accident and they were under staffed. I could tell they were working hard to make people happy and were just overwhelmed. EDIT - tried ordering carry out twice since the above, both times service was terrible. First time they were out of paneer 30 minutes after they opened (How does that happen???) And the second time they wrote down the wrong food. We asked for the curry spicy and it is by far the blandest curry Ive ever had. Three strikes and youre out.

Indian food was not my thing. I thought I didnt like curry and I still dont like foods with a strong curry taste. There are a couple dishes though that I found I love and this place makes these dishes well. I went out with my wife and we got lamb korma ( you could probably get chicken as well but I liked the lamb) and my wife got chicken tikka masala. We also ordered Naan which is a bread that comes in a few different styles and flavors. We really like the garlic naan. It was very good when we dipped it in the sauces that came with our main dish. Our food wasnt too spicy it tasted very good. Its very hard to find a good Indian restaurant but Im so happy that they have a good quality one now that is close to me. If you are ever thinking about trying Indian food like I was, I would highly suggest those two dishes to try.

The worst food I ever had. I went there along with my friends. We were so hungry and rushed to this place to have some indian food as we dint had anything since morning. We requested them to make the food spicy. What they did was just added chilli powder and served us. The food was a disaster i must say. All the curries tasted like raw chilli powder gravy and was not even tasty. We ordered veg manchuria that was just like lumps of flour fried in oil. Even the service was so bad they were not even listening to us properly. The lady who works there i think she is the owner she was rude. Biryani was good though. There are several other places which serve much better tastier food. I will never recomend this place.

If you are not indian, this is a good place to try Indian food. Because we Indians are accustomed to really high spice levels food here feels a little bland, as does food in most Indian restaurants here. Place could use a little facelift. Only reason I cut down two stars was service related - I ordered takeaway (my third time here) and after fifteen minutes when my order was ready I was told they were out of one item (chilly babycorn) on my order. This should have been told right when I ordered, and is unacceptable. I would go back again especially because of its location. Maybe, Ill update the review if I see a change.

The people who work here are always very kind and accommodating. The food has always been fresh and authentic and full of flavor (pro tip - get some raita with your meal to cool the spice level down a bit). The decor inside is beautiful and tranquil; once inside, youd never know the building used to be a liquor store. And their lunch buffet is only $7.99 - where else can you pay that little for all the high-quality homemade food you want to eat? I ate there twice in the past week, and Im already thinking about when Ill be able to go back.
