The new owners are doing a fantastic job bringing good Chinese/Thai fast-food to an area sorely lacking in this. I ate at China Chef under the previous owners, and the food was, frankly, terrible. Today we ordered your good ol standard General Tso. It was absolutely delicious and I was happily amused the level of care they put into the dish. The chicken was tasty and not overcooked. The sauce was thick and sweet. The zucchini they threw in soaked up the flavour. I have eaten many traditional Chinese dishes, winter melon soup being my favourite. However, I have zero problem enjoying American-Chinese fast food if it is made well. I usually order General Tso when I first try a Chinese fast food establishment because it is an American favourite. The dish also varies widly resturant to restaurant, and how well a General Tso dish is prepared tells a lot about the restaurant. Next time we go in, I am going to try something crossing into less fast food and more real food. I would absolutely recommend giving China Chef a try. The prices are fair, the atmosphere is very pleasant, especially the open kitchen and the food is very very good.

Absolutely horrible. Called 15 mins before arrival, and placed a take out order. Upon arrival, stood in lobby for 10 mins without even being acknowledged. Once I was finally adressed, I gave my phone number which was taken down to identify my order when I placed it. The employee proceeded to give me a random bag of food, which happened to be another persons order who was waiting in the lobby, and charged me for it. Once the order made it to the correct person and my refund was sorted out, I asked the man behind the counter if he had my order, again giving him my phone number. He said no, he never had it, and said it would be a 30 min wait for my order if I wanted to place it now. Absolutely ridiculous, will never, ever go again.

Amazing food! The prices here are great, you can eat a meal for less than $7 with a healthy portion of your entree along with rice and vegetable. If your a fan of fried rice its a .50 upgrade from white rice. Id get the food to go, its not the best "eat in place." But all around one of the best carry-out chinese places I have visted for dinner. Most places charge 8 to 10 $ for what they give you. The one thing Ill point out is the food has more of a Korean (I think..im no expert) flavor than your traditional "chineese" food. Such as the sweat n sour sauce has a ginger flavor along with the crab rangoon is made a lot different than Im used to. But different is good.. Ill be back multiple times.. thats for sure!

Unfortunately, I have ended my love affair with this Chinese restaurant as of tonight. I have came to the conclusion that they intend on cheapening their food by whatever means necessary. You hardly get any substance for the price, and the condition of the kitchen is terrible. This place used to be one of the best Chinese places around, now it seems like less and less people go in there everyday. Hopefully they close down soon and become replaced by a better Chinese restaurant that is willing to serve the food to back up their atrociously high prices.

Will NEVER go there again! There food is a joke. Drove 20 minutes to get it. They fill their sweet and sour chicken comtainer with peppers and vegetables to take up space. If you ask for sweet and sour sauce they will give you a container the size of a tablespoon with sweet and sour sauce in it. Same for the rice that comes with it. The container with the white rice is the size of 1/4 cup (a little bigger than a ring box). So please dont waste your time. Not a happy customer!!!!

Best bourbon chicken in the city. Prices are very good and service is quite friendly. Quality of food is excellent- sticky rice, meats are well trimmed, so you dont get those weird bites of chicken you have to spit out like at other places. (This factor is very important to me :) Not a place most people eat-in, so I do not mind that the interior is dark and kind of ugly. Its clean and thats what matters.

I wouldnt even rate it a one star. I would not recommend them to anyone. Their egg rolls were disgusting, it was cooked too long. The general tso Chicken pieces were absolutely humongous... I know its always a risk eating Chinese anyway but I wish I could have uploaded a pic. Then they only have me one side of rice. For all three of the meals I ordered. We will never return here ever.

Great flavor and prices. I was skeptical of this place at first because the outside could use a refresh but inside was clean and comfortable...Think california Chinese restaurant meets vintage Ohio neighborhood family restaurant feel. I got carryout Orange chicken. Great flavor..The sauce was just a little sweet but a large portion and great veggies too. Ill def be back.

Lunch time at China Chef. Got crab rangoon and pork fried rice. Friend got shrimp with snow pea. Food was abundant and fresh. She loved hers...mine didnt have a lot of flavor but was fairly basic. Establishment was clean. Owner was on hand to wait on us and was very attentive.

UPDATE: New Owner. Cleaned up, rehabbed sitdown area. Added Thai foods too. Good basic Chinese Asian food. Works great for take out. Dine-in is very basic with paper plates and plastics utensils. Very good portions for the price.

This is my favorite Chinese restaurant in Cincinnati. The service is wonderful. Their wonton soup is medicine for my family and I when ever we are sick. The decor is humble. I would not want to change a thing.

It was disgusting, rice sticky and no flavor. Beef didnt taste right and the bourbon chicken well I wouldnt even call that chicken. I will stick with the other place I go to because this was horrible

One of the nicest Chinese restaurants (on the inside) that Ive ever been to. No buffet, but excellent food, and the best spring rolls. Crab Rangoons are also excellent. Will return!

I have been eating here for years. Its the greatest place to eat for under $9.00 dollars each. No matter where I move to in this city my family and I will always eat at China Chef.
