Major problem is their lack of preparedness. They open at 11. My wife and I arrived at 11:05. We waited for a few minutes before someone noticed us. Then we went to get food. Only one hot dish was out and no sushi was ready. It was fifteen minutes before they had a good selection. We ate and paid for our bill and there was still empty pans. If you open at 11, be ready to feed people at 11. We also went there for dinner a couple times. And I cant get over the additional cost for crab legs. $10?????? Are they insane? Other buffets in the area include them in the cost. Im not sure if theyre better quality because I will never pay that price for crab legs.

MON Lunch, 115pm CROWD: Mix of older at late lunch and a few families. SERVICE: For a buffet – it was fine. FOOD: Pepper steak was the highlight. Shrimp was very good for a buffet. Sushi – adequate. In the shrinking world of Chinese buffet’s – this was a pleasant surprise. Clean enough, and even at the late lunch hour – fresh food came out. PRICE: 7.75 per person, 1.50 for soda. PLUSES – FRESH – after 1pm at most buffets your lucky to have them bring out anything – not here. Good job. MINUSES: Pepsi products (I’d pay a dollar more for coke). Bottom-line – will return.

They dont even deserve one star and thats coming from someone who dosent tend to complain. This place was horrible. My girlfriend and I just ate there for the first and last time today. All the food was cold and nasty. All the chicken was over cooked. It cost $10 extra to eat the crab legs. When they refilled my girlfriends drink there was a sliver of food in it. The staff was very rude and was basically rushing us out the door. I figured for 30 dollars this place would have been better. I definitely do NOT recommend this place to anybody.

There are many other Chinese restaurants that are better than this one. Everything I tried was pretty bland. My favorite was their "pepper steak" which was still just okay. The dinning room is a little uncomfortable. With five of us, the table (with six chairs) was pretty crowded; it was difficult to get out to the buffet without disrupting others. They do, however, have a broad variety of foods. Beyond the typical Chinese food, they have salad, ribs, French fries, ice cream, and more. tl;dr: There are many places better than this one.

I havent been in awhile but I was a regular here. A faithful consumer lol. Jokes aside though, this is my first choice when I want chinese food and have enough money. I like dinner because of the coconut shrimp. Its not like fresh coconut on shrimp btw. It kinda has the consistency of and reminds me of homemade mac and cheese. Thick rich sauce slightly sweet. I want some now just writing this. I need that in my life but everyone with a car that I know is working or busy when im off work or doesnt like Chinese food.

The food and the service is great! The Hibachi grill is part of the buffet. Get hot food fresh off of the grill if you dont want to eat the food from the buffet. The servers walk around wiping behind customers and they keep fresh food changes in rotation. You get what you pay for. Its worth $11 for dinner if you like Chinese food. Yes, there are much higher rated Chinese food restaurants but of course youre going to pay double what you pay here. I enjoy Royal Buffet for what its worth.

Food is geat! There is something there for everybody even if youre not thrilled with Chinese theres also a bar where they do steaks for you and they have all kinds of other different things as sushi bar is really good they have a lot of fruit they have salad and they have seafood the place is great everything tastes really good Ive never heard a bad thing about it they have lots of seating and I just really enjoy going its nice with a buffet and the price is reasonable for what they have

The man that runs it ( well I guess he runs it) is just rude and they charged me $4 for a glass of fruits punch but $1.50 for the normal drinks. Thats completely ridiculous and they didnt even tell me that. Some of the food was cold and you could tell it was sitting out for a while my nieces fried were cold like they were still frozen and they basically rushed us out the door and no one was even in the restaurant. They are terrible! Not even worth the $7 for the buffet.

Absolutely the worst Chinese buffet we have ever tried. I got small amounts of almost everything hoping there would be something decent but unfortunately, other than the iceburg lettuce salad, it really was terrible. I generally dont write reviews but this place was so bad I felt obligated to warn others about it. I dont know how this place is "notorious" for being the best Chinese buffet in the area.

I wont be looking forward to eating here again. They DO have a massive variety, something for everyone, but an absence of things like sweet and sour chicken an some of your usual stuff. There were many things that werent labeled, were mis-labeled, or just plain did not taste good and temperature of food was questionable. Very pricey for what I would consider substandard fare.

4.5 stars?? Really? Where do you people eat Asian food? This place is terrible!!! Sugar doughnuts were not cooked all the way. Wonton soup - slimy, and Ive never had urine, but I have an idea what it would be like. Please take my review into consideration before going to this place. You will regret your trip. 1 star is even to many.

This place has aged horribly! I remember going here as a child and loving it! Over the years the quality of the food has slowly degraded to the point of being almost inedible. Not to mention, Chapel Hill as a whole is sketchy now. My party witnessed two women dining and dashing during our meal. Dinner and a show (not in a good way.)

My wife is the Chinese food fan, I just eat it. This place bombed for both. To me it was bland, cold and or dried out. To my wife it was just plain awful. P.S. Tried to redeem with dessert. Previously frozen desserts... should have left them in the freezer. P.P.S. Wow do I have an MSG headache!

The service is friendly and on point. The food is delicious and doesnt make you feel like you ate a rock if you have four plates like I do. It is not fancy but there is a good atmosphere and I have been on a couple dates here with a girl that likes to eat. The workers are all the real deal.

Worst experience I ever had! The lady tried to sell me the crab legs would cost an extra $10 on top of the already $12 price and then she tried to tell me that I would be paying a tip plus buying a drink and it would be a total of $30. Worst buffet Ive ever been to do not go

I love Royal Buffet and Grill! The food is good for the price! And there are signs posted about the $10 extra charge for crab legs at the door and at the buffet. The staff is always very nice and courteous. I always enjoy going there which is more than twice a week.
