Good (not excellent), casual dining. There are two great reasons to go to this place: 1) their lobster rolls. 2) their bread. Have you ever had a fastnacht? Thats what they serve you (as "bread") when you sit down at Nantucket, but they dont call them fastnachts. The word Fastnacht originates from the German words "fast" (to abstain) and "Nacht" (night) indicating the eve of the traditional Lenten fasting period observed by many Christian denominations. It is the equivalent celebration to Mardi Gras or Carnevale. A fasnacht is an English name for a fried doughnut served traditionally in the days of Carnival or on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Lent starts. Fasnachts are made as a way to empty the pantry of lard, sugar, fat, and butter, which are traditionally fasted from during Lent. Also, fastnachts are eagerly eaten as a way to "fatten up" before beginning your fast. When I was growing up in southeastern Pennsylvania, we had fastnachts with our school lunches. Most chain supermarkets in eastern Pennsylvania sell fasnachts. In parts of Maryland, the treats are called Kinklings, and are only sold in bakeries on Shrove Tuesday. The German version is made from a yeast dough, deep fried, and coated or dusted in sugar or cinnamon sugar; they may be plain or filled with fruit jam. Pennsylvania Dutch fasnachts can often be potato doughnuts, and may be uncoated, dusted with table sugar, or powdered with confectioners sugar. Anyway, I think it so odd that a place which attempts to "...capture the essence of the New England-style cuisine..." serves these tasty treats year-round. I dont think Ive ever seen these things in New England, but ---then again--- Ive only been there three times. They recently changed their bar specials (for the worse): gone are the days of half-priced beer and wine bottles on Thursdays. Now, its just $5 off bottled wine. Somebody needs to clean the glass display case in the bar---Its dusty! Could qualify as fine dining if not for the plastic water cups.

My family and I went on a Saturday evening. The place is clearly popular, as they were quite busy. We managed to find a parking spot, and headed inside. The wait for a table was awkward. There wasnt a lot of space to stand or sit, and I felt like I was constantly in the way. Standing and waiting outside wasnt really an option either, as they had no way of notifying anyone outdoors a table was ready for them. Once seated, we were taken care of fairly promptly. We received our drinks, and our order was taken. One member of our party ordered prime rib, medium rare. Unfortunately, a while after he put in his order, our server came back to say it wasnt possible. They only had medium well and well done cuts left. He decided to get the rib eye instead, like myself. When the food arrived it looked great. The fish and chips were a huge hit, and the roasted seasonal vegetables were fantastic. The rib eyes, unfortunately, presented an odd issue, though. Mine was perfect...tender, marbled, cooked just as Id requested (medium rare). The other person, however, could barely cut into his for all the gristle to be found in his cut. I ended up sharing my steak with him, upset with the discrepancy. The experience was pretty hit or miss for the most part. One thing that redeemed it was the Saturday special...a free piece of mile-high cake with every purchase of an entree over $13. There were a number of choices, and we each tried something different. Across the board, we all enjoyed the cake (which our server kindly packaged to go so we could take it home). Its likely well go back and give Nantucket Grill another chance. While some of the experience wasnt great, the things that did work out were spot on. It seems fair to try it out again in case it was just a bit of an off night.

Poor-Fair is not a good rating. Why doesnt Google have "mediocre" as a rating? This was not poor - just not worth coming back for. In short, I have to concur with other reviews that declared there was nothing especially exciting here. The lobster bisque was tasty, but bland,so far as lobster bisque goes (Disclaimer: I love over the top flavor, so what I find bland may suit many folks just fine. I compare all lobster bisque to the that served at Maximillians, so this is not a fair fight). The reportedly great Cobb Salad was one of the more mediocre boring salads Ive ever eaten. The avocados were in short supply and browning, the tomatoes were pale and tasteless, the cilantro ranch dressing (on the side thankfully) tasted like run of the mill ranch to me, and... then there was iceberg lettuce and bland tortilla strips and cheese quesadilla points on the top - boring. If there was anything else in this salad, I missed it. The deserts while attractive and numerous... and free on Tuesday, were unremarkable - both lemon and chocolate cakes had artificial tasting icing in my opinion, though I appreciated the sharp lemon flavor. My friend got the filet and it was reportedly really good (good potato too), but screwing up a filet requires talent. The server was sweet and charming - but had trouble keeping up as she had some huge tables. The wine order was also messed up, but these things happen. On a positive note, the decor and atmosphere was great and they had some good wines - Ill probably end up visiting the nice bar area sometime. Im just doubtful that I will order food. Maybe Ill come back and try the seafood, just in case. I really wanted to like this place...

The restaurant was nice, neat, clean, not loud and hostess seated us immediately. The food was good and prepared correctly. Now for the problems. My wife ordered Fish and Chips (which was recommended by the server over another selection) and when the food was brought out her meal was a fish sandwich. She immediately sent it back. The server apologized and said they would get her fish and chips meal out as quick as possible. Probably 5 min later her correct meal was brought to the table by the server not a manager. The manager never visited our table to acknowledge the mistake, offer the meal at a reduced price or free dessert. We get our check and the server pointed out that the fish sandwich had been deleted and my wifes meal had been added. I paid the bill and we left. Once outside my wife noticed a banner stating kids eat free on Sunday. I checked the banner to make sure it didnt state between certain times and it didnt. I check my receipt and the kids meal was charged. I went back in and told the person at the front desk and showed my receipt. The person took the receipt to our server who come out and apologized. The person who took the receipt returned and stated that the first ticket had been deleted, the charged had been corrected and I would only see one charge on my credit card statement. I just looked at my statement and there is only one charge, the original charge which included the $6.30 kids meal. Even though the food was good, the service was not and the restaurant stole money from me. Our family will not be going back and I do not recommend this restaurant.

Was fairly disappointed. We were told at the door before we sat down they were out of prime rib. Thats one of the main reasons we came here and it was their Friday night special. It took longer then expected for the waitress to take our orders. After several minutes, the waitress came back and said they were out of oven roasted chicken so I had to find something else for a second time. The food finally came and wasnt as good as I expected it would be. The lemon chicken had a good flavor but a weird texture. The mashed potatoes and salad were the best thing on the plate. The bread knife was duller then my 2 year olds spoon. There are lysol wipe containers everywhere on top of the counters and bar. Yes, Im glad theyre using them but they should be out of site. Oh, and the bread was served with butter in a plastic container. It wasnt even real butter. For an upper scale restaurant I would expect higher standards.
