The food is great. However, I would NOT recommend them to cater any event. The disorganization is the worst that Ive ever experienced. They didnt even have us on the books or showing what weve paid after having to fire the lady in charge for catering. When calling to finalize the details for our wedding, they had us marked down for that Sunday when in reality it was that Saturday. If I wouldnt have called they would not have showed. To top it off, they showed up TWO hours late to our wedding. When we would call, they wouldnt answer. Their excuse? "We got busy". They promised us three servers, we only had two. Elder came to me (the bride) not once but TWICE saying we ran out of plates and cups, when the extra supplies were under the table the whole time. They left our wedding leaving two dessert trays without even mentioning to our DJ to announce that to the guests. Our guest left with no dessert. When I called to discuss the issues with Elder I got nothing but excuses and lie after lie. He stated he would not refund any money because he did nothing wrong, and ended up hanging up on me. If you want good catering service, DO NOT go through them.

When in Culpeper, go to Shawns for truly delicious BBQ! Ate at Elders last night for 1st time -- wont be going back. Food: Ordered pulled pork & ribs combo with potato salad & broccoli -- the meat was tough & very salty with high amounts of seasoning rub tasted. Potato salad o.k. -- lots of egg with detectable sweetness of added sugar -- nothing special. Broccoli was old -- overcooked. Had water to drink -- right out of the tap, I guess -- tasted really odd even with lemon slice. Dining environment: hot & stuffy, several flies buzzing around tables, seemed kind of grungy overall. Given old, plastic salad plates to eat off -- asked for full size dinner plates -- waitress seemed puzzled by request but eventually returned with real plates/platters. Wait staff: greeted pleasantly & assisted efficiently by 1 person off & on, but waited on by another - tall, blonde - who should not be in this business -- she had no interest in us, no knowledge of food, no understanding of how to wait tables.zero. Very poor food -- awful dining experience. Please go to Shawns for great BBQ & fixings!!

We had a truly great experience. The wait staff was very friendly and prompt to respond to our request. The BBQ was great. I tried the sampler with St. Louis ribs with a thick flavorful bark. The Chicken wings were crisp and fully cooked with a wonderful medium heat. The Chicken tenders were tender. The CFO (wife) had the pulled pork and she loved it. The BBQ sauces (3) were tasty. The Vinegar base sauce was sweet, with vinegar bite.. The catsup based BBQ sauce was good and had a strong after bite. I didnt card for the mustard based BBQ. Its the first BBQ place Ive been too, that didnt serve beer and didnt have baby back ribs. Price was great. The local EMTs showed up for dinner at the same time.. So you know it had to be good.

The food was delicious but the service was the most disorganized of any restaurant Ive ever been to. There was over an hour wait, and most people left before food was finally ready. The manager offered no explanation. The wait and kitchen staff were bustling around like crazy, but no food came out. No appetizer was offered while we waited, and no discount was given at the end of the night. My cornbread was substituted for tater tots without notifying me or asking my permission. When I asked something I didnt order was on my plate (and what I did order was missing), I was told by the server, "Oh yeah, we ran out of cornbread. You get those instead."

Okay so weve got to go with three stars on this one. The menu did not say that the smoke sausage with smoked Italian sausage so basically Im the only person out of a group of four that liked it. It should have said smoked Italian sausage. The brisket is good the signs are all good the fried okra is great. The guy running the kitchen and saw that we were waiting for a while so he brought us out some hush puppies with apple butter and that was really interesting and good also. So overall its good but 3 out of 5 because three out of four dont like Italian sausage.

Have given this place 3 chances. Extremely slow service, hot, stuffy and uncomfortable, dont want sweat rolling down my face while eating. Food is average. Famous for their "homemade banana pudding" but, their always "sold out" and no milkshakes (machine is consistently broken) either.

Fantastic for lunch or dinner. I spent several weeks in Culpeper and got to try out many of the local eateries. uncle elders became a favorite place for lunch (pork BBQ, chicken BBQ, Brisket sandwich...) and a great place for dinner too. We will be coming back again and again. Yum

Dinner was delicious. I had the St. Louis smoked ribs with mash potatoes and fried okra. My family had the smoked chicken and it was also delicious. It received 4 stars because, we did have to wait a while to be sreved. Im assuming the okra was made to order.

This is one of my favorite restaurants. The staff is friendly and prompt on refills. The food takes a bit, but is excellent. The Mac & Cheese is incredible! I really recommend this restaurant if youre in the mood for comfort food or just plain good food.

For the type of food here the prices are very reasonable. The service was great and the food was very good. The brisket sandwich was great and the fajitas were awesome. Parking could be an issue on a Friday night. The place has a great atmosphere.

Awesome little place that my girlfriend and I came across while traveling to Shenandoah National Park. Will make it a regular stop from now on. Great service the waitress was very polite and attentive. Over all a very pleasant experience.

Best BBQ in town easily! And the Mac n cheese is easily the best Ive ever had at a BBQ restaurant. I had the pulled pork dinner platter and tasted the beef brisket, both were excellent. Highly recommend. Keep it up, Uncle Elder!

Love this place! Great food! The staff is super friendly and helpful! The food isnt the fastest but come on its bbq ha takes time! Love the decor if you eat in, but you can also order to go :)

Uncle Elders is the unbelievably great. The homemade BBQ sauces are to die for! They offer pulled pork, chicken Bbq, brisket, steaks, great side dishes. The best BbQ I have ever had!

Best barbeque around Culpeper. Friendly staff. Good coleslaw - no coconut like other local bbq. Southern food like fried okra, fried pickles, and collard greens. Yum um.
