Absolute BEST Chinese food anywhere. I have been going here for 18 years. About 5 years ago they use to be very rude ( not surprising with most Chinese restaurants) and I noticed their customers went down but within the last 5 years they have been so so so nice and now their restaurant is overflowing all hours of the day. Did I mention they have the BEST Chinese food ever? Everyone I have ever taken their or who has eaten their says the same thing. The plates are so beautiful and elegantly laid out with the food. Its very very clean inside the place. When you walk in it feels like you stepped into china, the walls,ceiling, and even the tables are covered in beautiful Chinese art. The staff is very nice and efficient. The guy who fills up your water has been working their for at least 18 years that I know of and puts a freaking bubble on the top its so full, he is amazing. All around a 5 star Chinese restaurant. Again Best Chinese food ever.

Finally! A place that delivers. Im new to Durham, NC and its so hard to find spots that deliver food. I ordered from here because of the ratings and reviews and I definitely agree with the people who gave 4 and 5 stars. My order was taken with ease, the guy I spoke to was pleasant, delivery didnt take extremely long, and the food is great ( Im eating right now). Very well proportioned, and fresh food. A little high, but you pay high for quality food. I gave four stars because the first time I called to place my order I was on hold for four mins. I hung up and called right back and my order was taken.

The food here is really good. Lunch specials with soup and egg roll, very delicious. Hot tea and water is brought to your table first bringing a great start to the meal. The service is as expected for a Chinese order, very hurry up and buy style. Menu is somewhat limited but the dishes are prepared with care. I say this is one of the best Chinese food restaurants I have been to because the food is consistently fresh and tasty. Feels like a authentic experience to me, but I am not Chinese. I recommend trying this at least once.

Ive been eating cheap Chinese food so long I was immediately impressed by the "upgrade" in food quality at Shanghai. Shared a Pu Pu Platter -- which was great, then shared three entrees: General Tsos Chicken, Broccoli Beef and a spicy tofu dish (forget name). Everything was delicious and noticeably better than any Chinese Ive had lately. And service was *exceptionally* good at Shanghai. I will definitely return and recommend to others -- especially those (like me) who otherwise just eat cheap lunch or Chinese buffets.

The interior is okay, nothing that will take your breath away, the food is ok, not very flavorful and fairly priced, the service was not good at all, not just for me and from my wait staff ... I watched the interactions with other staff and customers. Slow down, smile, take a moment to offer suggestions, dont be so rude, and your not always right ... just a few suggestions to the staff. The dumplings were good, the two main dishes got thrown out because I couldnt eat either one of them

"If you speak honestly, everyone will listen" And here is my opinion about this trash restaurant, the food was disgusting, i ordered fried rice and it was bitter, my Won Tong Soup looked like oil with water in it with a cream meat flower in it. My brocalli was under cooked and the restaurant is overall disgusting, dont listen to other reviewers, this is truly 100% a garbage restaurant. Would not recommend, tHiS rEsTaUrAnT wAs ReAlLy BaD.. Rating, would rate it 0 but I cant, so its a 1.

I dont normally do reviews- especially not negative ones but... I feel the need on this occasion. I Ordered from this restaurant through Grub Hub; worst moo shu pork Ive ever had...It was soggy and not fresh, the pancakes were hard and crumbly and the "fried rice" is rubbery and flavorless...even the crab Rangoon missed the mark :( To add insult to injury, the delivery guy demanded and harassed for a tip- before even handing me my food. Not a good experience at all!

Shanghai is our favorite Chinese restaurant. The food is consistently good, the staff is friendly, and the service is fast. In addition to traditional American-style Chinese dishes, they have a solid selection of authentic Cantonese dishes. The prices are very reasonable for the portions, and they deliver. It may not be "fancy", but if thats not a deal-breaker for you, then I highly recommend Shanghai.

Shanghai has been providing catered meals for my workplace for several weeks and has become the undisputed favorite among a group of Chinese business professionals who are in Durham for training. The food has been delivered hot, on time and consistently delicious - and theyve been happy to accommodate requests for spicer than typical dishes. Great experience.

Okay, from the outside it looks like nothing special. When you first enter, it looks like nothing special. Its after you are seated that changes. Love the food. I have tried multiple dishes and all have been great. Carryout can be hectic as you are waiting with people waiting to be seated, but that is my old negative.

The food is great. This might be the best place for Chinese food in Durham besides Pf Changs. Customer service is better than most Chinese places. Still not great but at least they actually try. This place actually has a mainly Chinese staff unlike most places. Bad reviews must be isolated situations.

By far one is my favourite Chinese-American restaurants in the durham area. I love the Hot and Sour soup, and have only ever found one place in the United States thats has it as good as this place, and its in Roseville CA. This place has history, good food, and a good atmosphere, well worth a trip!

Dont waste your time! Once was our favorite place to go for a nice meal! Service is terrible- ate there on April 16th - only a few tables were full! It took 52 minutes to get our food! When asked why the delay- the waiter told us that they only had one cook - 2 others no longer work there!

Hands down the worst Chinese food restraunt I have ever had. Thats not just me either. Three of us picked up entrees and they were all disgusting. Dont trust the rating or reviews. If you like Chinese food (and you have ever had good Chinese food) youll be sadly dissatisfied by this "food"

This place was great. Wonderful food great people and I would like to personally thank Alex for coming over and talking with my fiance and me it made the night even more enjoyable. They do pretty much everything fresh here. Alex I will defiantly be back before the move to California.

Ordered takeout twice. Staff is great but the food was sub par to say the least. Maybe I picked the wrong things but food was bland and tasteless each time. I hear they recently updated their menu and raised prices but I have not been back since my last disappointment here.
