My family and I took advantage of Papayas restaurant week menu last evening. I was terribly disappointed. I have been there many times, howeve, my family has not. They ordered the Pad Thai, normally this dish is classical Thai food, very flavorful and delicious. What they were served lacked any evidence of flavor, no peanut, no soy, we would have settled for some salt and pepper flavor, but alas, there were no shakers to be found. I ordered what I thought would be a pork chop, it was a pork chop, but the smallest I have ever seen. There were 4 small bites of meat on it. Maybe a tad larger than a half dollar, about an1/8 inch thick. Ridiculously small! The busser swiftly came by and filled my beer with water. In her defense, my beer was in a water glass, but that is because my beer was luke warm and I had to ask for ice. She moved away from the table so quickly, I could not catch her eyes to make her aware of her infraction. I did not complain to the waitress. I never complain in a restaurant, it goes back to parenting, nothing good to say, dont say anything. I kind of feel bad even writing this, but I believe the idea of restaurant week is to expose your establishment to people who may not know of your existence or have not had the opportunity to dine with you. I do not believe it is for restaurants to take advantage of people by offering items of lessor value or quality. Had I never dined there before, that would have been my last visit. Unfortunately, my family has no desire to return as they were completely unimpressed.

As a courteous citizen and an avid sushi-eater, my sincere recommendation is not to go! I normally never write reviews of restaurants. However, this experience was so horrible, that I decided to write this. I went with a friend on Wednesday night because they have "Half- off Sushi night". After having the waitress roll her eyes behind my back every time I asked her something about the menu, we were served the most horrific sushi. I have eaten sushi for approx 10 years in several different cities and this sushi was so bad, I wanted to vomit. The sushi was 99% rice, and 1 % sushi. The black seaweed was also not prepared properly and was falling off the roll. Supermarket sushi is better than Papaya sushi!

Papaya is a great place for a date; it has a quiet, trendy atmosphere and is located in the heart of downtown. They are a bit pricey ($12 for the noodle dishes to between $20-30 for most dinners) and they have a full bar and martini list. There arent a lot of options on the menu and there isnt a huge amount of variety (basically, Asian-inspired meats and rice inspired by Vietnam, Thailand, and even Japan.) Ive had the vegetarian pad thai and a sizzling duck dish, both excellent. Service is excellent. However, Id love to see them add some more things to the menu, and there isnt much at all for vegetarians. Also, save time to find a parking space somewhere.

This place is great. Im not much of a fan of Asian fusion, but I can always find something that Ill enjoy. The prices are high, but theyre tolerable. Only once have I had bad service, and it was during Restaurant Week a year ago. The staff is attentive, the drinks are great, etc. One minor concern the last time we were there (November, 2012) was seeing two boxes of Stove Top stuffing in the kitchen when I was walking back from the bathroom. When customers have full view of the service area, its probably best to to hide the fact that youre serving boxed products at the aforementioned prices. Seriously?

Had a bowl of Korean seafood soup. As I am from Korea, I was always skeptical about Korean restaurant and any Korean food in wherever Asian cuisine restaurants are because most of their menu got Americanized, as well as bad quality and high price. However, my order, the soup was fantastic! It was spicy enough(well, I am Korean and all about Korean food is heat.) and seafood cooked just good, tender and chewy. Whoever the cook is, they know what they make. It just made me think of my country. The food made me smile. It was this!

The food is ok but the server, who appeared to be one of the owners, was rude and rushed us from the beginning to the end of the service. She was very short tempered. Nothing ruins your night more than bad service. This is a pricy restaurant to begin with. To have bad service and pay a good buck for it?! Not fair at all to the customer. No wonder the place was so empty on a Friday night. Word of mouth goes a long way. .

Sorry didnt eat there. Reviews sounded good, but looked at online menu and there was only one vegetarian dish. Not even a veggie spring roll. Oh well. I know the owner is very responsive to the reviews, so just wanted to say that if the online menu is not accurate, then please update. If it is accurate, then please diversify the vegetarian options.

Excellent service, the food is phenomenal especially considering the low cost! The bar staff is very knowledgable, especially Mike Kelsey during the daytime! They are very accommodating to the oddest requests and know how to spice up a dish and keep it flavorful! All in all, Id recommend this restaurant to anyone, and usually do!

Huge selection of dishes and great food - actually, Papaya deserves a 5 for food and a 3 for its interior, which seemed to me too dark... Anyway - the food was really, really good, and the kids liked it as well. If you are staying in Buffalo and are looking for food you should go there (and try something Asian...).

WOW! This is my first time trying Papaya and I did a pick up order of pad thai and their crunchy tuna roll. The best pad thai Ive had and the sushi was so fresh and delicious! Cant wait to go back, and actually eat inside. The atmosphere is beautiful. Making reservations for this Monday! :) Thanks Papaya!

Love the Wednesday special of half price martinis and sushi rolls. Went there before a concert with a couple friends and we were able to share a reasonably price meal of pot stickers, 3 sushi rolls and pad woon . Liked the quiet and low lit atmosphere. Service was good as well. Will go back again!

This is my FAVORITE restaurant in Buffalo. My boyfriend and I tried a few different places in the area. We end up leaving those restaurants to go to Papaya. Their Wonton Soup is to die for! & Krista is an awesome waitress. Great vibes, great food, great music. Perfect spot for a night out.

My husband and I have been here a lot of times. Tonight was good because we knew it would be busy so we figured we would need to wait a while before getting seated to eat. So we put our name in went to the bar to order a drink. So long story short we just found a place to...

Because I work downtown I come here often. On Wednesdays they have half off sushi and half off martinis. Their food is really good. Sometimes on the pricey side but its usually worth it. The atmosphere is nice and the staff are friendly.
