I dont usually post reviews...in fact I never have....not once. But this place really deserves one. We decided to go for lunch on Christmas this year. We were starving and it was one of the only places open. We arrived to a surprisingly packed restaurant. Hopeful, right? Should have known better. The food was NOT good. I have a pretty tolerant stomach. Im not one to get sick or have strong reactions to bad food. This food, however, truly made me feel like I was going to throw up. We ordered a few items. Shrimp balls, pork dumplings, some other unknown battered item, and shrimp bread. At least I think it was shrimp bread. I asked the server numerous times what it was/what was in it and all I got was "shrimp breh." I understand his English may not have been great....thats 100% fine. But Ive clearly never heard of it before so a short basic explanation of whats in it would be nice. But all the servers were quick to just shove food onto our table and walk briskly away. Everything pretty much tasted the same. Greasy batter, mushy gelatinous filling with the opposite of fresh shrimp/mystery seafood mixed in. The texture alone was enough to set me over the edge. The shrimp ball literally bounced on my plate when I dropped it. The only half way decent thing we tried were the pork dumplings. But even those werent great. Just edible. Bad experience continued on our way out. After about 8 minutes, we couldnt stomach anymore. We got our check and went to the front to pay. A small woman with very short hair (the owner maybe) "greeted us." And by greeted, I mean reached her hand out for the check while speaking very loudly on the phone, and never looking up to say a word to us. Oh wait! Actually, she did take a break from her call to say one thing. My boyfriend was so flustered he didnt even think to tip. Hes normally a generous/standard tipper but this was an unnerving situation and we just wanted to get out of there. As were walking away the woman yells "TIP NOT INCLUDED!" and then proceeds back to her call. We apologized, left a couple bucks and got the hell out of there. The food sat in my stomach like a brick for hours. This may have sounded harsh, but when there isnt even an attempt to make us feel welcome or serve us good food, you kind of asked for it. Go elsewhere...seriously.

I am an Asian and eaten many Chinese restaurants in difference continents. I myself in a food business. This is not the best!!!, but by far its the best in Charlotte. I try some Chinese restaurant in Charlotte, but they are not Authentic enough. My family and I only eat in this particular Chinese restaurant. If you are looking for non Authentic and fancy go somewhere else. We go there for food not fancy restaurant. They have various of tasty food and you got to know what to orders. You will never find restaurants have perfect menu. Some you like and some you wont like... If you go there for lunch in weekend be prepare to wait for at least 30 minutes. This place is packed. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who want to eat good Chinese food. Our favorite are Shumei, Salted fish fried Rice, Stuffed Egg plant, Steamed Fish (house special), Egg Fu young (house Special), and of course Chicken feet (phoenix claws) and many more. Enjoy!!

Just looking for good chinese food Friday night and found this little restaurant here in Charlotte. First went there for dinner - ordered the fried pepper spare ribs and it is excellent. Taste just the way we have in Hong Kong. The vegetable we ordered is a kind only know by south eastern China and Taiwan. Tasty and cooked the way it should be. The server told us Sunday morning can be very busy, so we stopped by Saturday morning for some Dim Sum. Yes, it is not the quality of Hong Kong dim sum, but not many chinese restaurant in south east U.S. can do better than this. So we end up have some Beef chow fun Saturday night. Thats good too. Got the right "taste" and color, which is very, very important for this dish. Certainly I will visit again next time Im in town.

This is the best Dim Sum restaurant in Charlotte, even though there are only 2 in Charlotte. This place is better. Get there by 1130AM if you dont want to wait in line. They push the dim sum carts around and you get your typical dim sum variety. Shu Mai, Shrimp balls, tripe, chicken feet, ribs, duck, and etc... Pricing is pretty typical $3.50 for small plate to $6.50 for a larger plate. You can also request a menu and order from that. For tripe lovers out there this place no longer use real tripe for their tripe dish. Now theyre using a different intestinal lining which is easier to cook, but doesnt taste as good as the normal tripe that we typically know and love.

Walk in and let a pungent fishy odor greet you in the foyer. Take in the plain white walls, non-existent decor and exhilarating completely silent mood. It almost felt like sitting in a warehouse-themed waiting room. The dining room was empty at dinner time - should have been a big red flag and I wish we had walked out promptly. However, promises of fresh authentic chinese cuisine tempted us to stay and try the food. Unfortunately, nothing was fresh. Everything we got was over-saturated in sesame oil. The seafood soup was bland. My rice noodles were undercooked; a sort of chewy texture. Staff could be seen preparing food without gloves. Stay away from this place.

Charlotte have you heard.....Dim Sum has reopened and they have some kinks to work out to live up to the Dim Sum name. We were a party of three arriving at noon on Sunday. Day 2 of tea lunch. Heres a recap: There was NO air conditioning. They had a few circulating fans which was minor relief. They were short staffed - once we got a table which was in the side room in the a corner we only saw the staff few times within the first 15 minutes. Unfortunately after that our drinks remained empty and we were never able to get more food. Also the Dim Sum menu is smaller and they do not have any desserts. I look forward to returning once they get things on track.

When we came in, several waiters came to table and tried to have us sample various things, and then said each sample was $3.50. We declined. Waitress finally told us the Meat with broccoli contained pork, which we dont eat. When we finally ordered from dinner menu because they said they arent serving lunch because it is a "big holiday", the pricey food was bland and we tried to enjoy it as much as we could. Price was exorbitant for the not so good taste. Sorry Tai Pei was closed today. That is good Chinese food. We will never go back to Dim Sum

I drove 2 hours to get to some "real" Chinese food... The quality of the Dim Sum was mediocre. The soup dumplings had no soup in them, and the shrimp dumplings were falling apart. Although the taste of the food was authentic, the presentation could have been better. Also, upon leaving I ordered 2 extra "pineapple bread" portions to go, and was marked accordingly on my card. When it came time to check out, the owner insisted I had not paid for the extra order. Thus, I paid for the pineapple bread twice.
