We were a group of 6 people. We were waiting for 1 hour 10 minutes for the food to arrive after ordering. The waiter didnt bring the check for almost 30 minutes even after we told him to bring so. We finally had to get to the counter and the waiter was seemingly not even aware that we had been there. We had split the check, one among us requested to pay for 2 but the waiter swiped for 1 and later started complaining that someone of us hadnt paid. Later on when he realized his mistake he had a nice satirical smile on his face and assured us that he will be taking good care of us next time. I couldnt give negative stars because theres no option to. The quality of food was okay but go there only if you intend to stay the whole day in the restaurant.

This was our first time at Emzy and we definitely will return. The atmosphere is a little loud because of the small size but the food makes up for this. I had the eel roll and volcano roll and both were excellent. My wife had the jewelry box roll which she said could have used a little more seasoning but was good. My only complaint is that because of the size of the dining area your table selection may not be the best. Our table was right across from the front entrance and every time someone came in we were hit with a gust of cold air. Still a great dining experience.

The place was nearby and we went there for a evening out. The sushi was mediocre and the tuna was not fresh. We enjoyed their miso soup but the waiter was barely around and did not help us out when we needed refills. We only saw him twice and then he was cleaning the sushi bar. CAUTION: watch your transaction they charged an extra $5 later as a tip even when we didnt leave that amount. It showed up a couple days later on our statement. be wary they seem to do this because this was the second time it happened to us.

UPTOWN WINNER -- I tried the sushi, but I dont know what the big deal is. Regardless, this is an Asian-fusion place uptown that most of my co-workers like better than high-price Emrils right around the corner. I usually stick to the sesame chicken. The chicken is flash fried - just lightly fried but very tender. There is a hefty sushi menu if you like that. Just not my thing. Good place for lunch uptown. Had dinner there, too. Excellent choice if you are heading to an event at nearby Knight Theater.

I have tried this place a few times. The food and the service are horrible. Sushi lineman is eating sushi on the line.. Food takes forever to come out. I get the cheapest tasting beef of any place I have ever ate. I have tried it multiple times and have officially given up. Dont allow the location trick you. Go to red ginger or the other sushi and Japanese place up near trade street and the jersey mikes. The food is cheap and the meat quality is terrible. Or try it out and regret it.

Absolutely awful ! Food was low quality, I asked for several things that the server never brought. They wont except your Groupon, the owner John, basicly told us he didnt care when I asked to speak with him.. I could just try next time... even when I told him I doubted I would come back after such a bad experience he said "ok" and walked off .... I will be very shocked if it stays in business, but somehow if it does, do your self a favor and dont spend your money at this place.

My husband and I purchased a groupon for Emzy and literally called Friday, Saturday and Sunday. No one picked up, so we decided to stop by on Saturday. The place was empty. Finally on Monday (today), July 4th a cook answered. We asked to make a reservation per the groupon and he said that they were closed. We explained the situation and that we were from out of town. He provided no solution for us. To bad we leave in the morning. A groupon wasted.

Food was excellent, the decor was excellent and the atmosphere was the highlight of my conversation with my significant other. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and everyone. The shrimp sauce is kinda sweet which was different than what I was used to but overall I was very impressed. Portions of food were more then I could finish there, and the chocolate mints were exceptionally good.

Went here on a business lunch while in Charlotte. Pros: - Fast seating, fast service - Large serving of miso soup and chicken fried rice - Price seemed reasonable Cons: - The rolls were way too heavy. Got the spicy tuna roll and the hella hot roll. Tasted like they were deep fried, which was not on the menu. - I know hot, and these were not hot. - A bit skimpy on the ginger.

Nice environment for a date night or a cool bar to get off the main strip of tryon. Great weekley drink specials with 2 dollar draft of friday and 3 dollar imports on Wednesday. Only downside is that there is current construction next door which may put a slight hamper on the outside appearance, but overal great vibe.

Electric atmosphere meets artfully plated sushi along with great Japanese dishes. The place does get busy. The restaurant is usually loud. I can see the wait staff getting flustered and forgetful in lunch service. They promptly removed an item off my tab when it was forgotten. Definitely will be back. Enjoy!

Thursday Sept. 8th. Horrible. Flash fried calamari, uh. Greasy, mildly warm at best. Terrible dinner. The three of us left virtually the food on the plate that they served us. Didnt have any glass or bottle of Sauvignon Blanc to sell. And, last night was half bottle price! Stay away!!!!!!!!

HORRIBLE! Go to Red Ginger down the street instead! The comment below is 100% correct. John, the owner, is the worst! They basically told my wife, 3 year old and myself that they didnt care if we came back! One of worst experiences in my life. Food isnt great either!!! STAY AWAY!!!

Loved this restaurant, wondering how I missed this place all this while. All the food we ordered were good. The kimchi fried rice, angel hair Singapore noodles, and the stir fried vegetables/chicken, all of them were exceptional. Our team decided to frequent here more often.

Wow, I cannot believe some of the bad reviews that I am seeing. My wife and I love Japanese food and this is the best place in town to get it. The prices are below Japanese Steakhouse levels but the food is much better! The sushi is also some of the best I have had in town.

This place has been pretty hit-or-miss for me. I think their sushi is much better than their cooked menu items. Their grilled chicken is chewy and not very appetizing. The sushi has generally been fine during the times Ive been here.

Amazing Kimchi Fried rice, Good options even for vegetarians. Only complain is that because of their interior places gets very noise , so much so that sometimes you cant even hold conversation in table with more than 4 people

Great value and tasty food! The 2 bucks draft beers are also a plus. I liked the quiet and chilled atmosphere, you actually can have a chat without screaming on the top of your lungs.
