Im not the person who looks for flaws or imperfections but today is the day I will mention my horrible service at The Egg & I. Well, it started off with a 15 min wait which was not bad because there was a large guest party and I was with my 11 month old which meant I needed a booth to fit the high chair. Okay, so I was seated first out of three other parties. I was finally ready to order, which I did and after that I commenced to wait. So here is the problem. The three other parties that I was seated before obviously orders after me, and because of the large party everyone including me was waiting for there order. The three other tables that I was seated before were seated in my section as well and after the large party was served, the three other parties that I was seated before received their food dishes before me (they were all white people). Mind you, at my table there was my 11 month old and I, so I ordered one plate. The three other parties that I was seated before had a minimum of two adults which means there is more food to prepare than my one plate which was a pancake, 3 eggs and 3 sausages. My total wait time was a little over 25 minutes. I guess that the guy who brought my food out was the manager/owner but the guy only says, "Sorry for the wait." I honestly expected more from the guy with the managers shirt on. Another bad thing about this is, it was the second time that this has happened to me, the first time my wife and I were together and she was pregnant. I went back to this restaurant because I thought that my experience would be better, but no it was not. The only reason I gave 2 Stars is because I enjoyed the time waiting with my son and the food was decent. It is far more effective in todays society to effect a business with negative feedback online than to react in public to the ignorance of other people. I will NEVER spend my hard earned money in this restaurant again.

Exceptional service! Our waitress, Angela, was very gracious and super friendly!! We were seated immediately, in the light and clean dining area. They sat families with children together, which eased my mind since we had with us our two year old son, and I didnt have to worry about him disturbing those with no children, which I appreciated! They have a selection of coffee (the most important part to me), I ordered the dark roast rainforest bold and it was awesome! They brought a whole carafe which I LOVED, because theres nothing worse than having to wait on more coffee or a tiny diner mug! The general manager checked in with us, while we waited for our food, which was out very quickly! With the exception of a small order mistake (which was acknowledged and handled immediately), the food was great, hot, and fast! I wish they offered real maple syrup, but I realize most places here do not. I sincerely hope they keep up the exceptional service, because we will absolutely be back! Thank you!

Food is fine, but they very clearly segregate their seating based on race/family. White families are sat in the main area (with the booths), non-white families and/or families with young children are sat in a little side room that is entirely tables. My husband (who is not white) and I have been here twice now, and weve noticed this both times when we were sat in the side room despite ample available seating in the main area (Im also very obviously pregnant, it should have been clear that a booth would have been far preferable). Young children with a tendency to be loud or unruly, I understand putting in a separate area. A young couple (or even an older one, we saw a couple older non-white and mixed race couples get this treatment too), I cant understand this. It made for an uncomfortable, unpleasant experience and we will not be returning.

Much potential, not polished. I came in on a Sunday at around 1pm. I think they were short staffed because there were many open tables but still a short wait to be seated. Thats okay, but you would think a brunch place would expect a rush on Sunday after church. The menu was very intriguing, with lots of options that sounded very fresh and interesting. I ordered a half Reuben and a Greek salad. They forgot to bring out my salad dressing, so the salad was a little bland. The Reuben was okay. At the price point ($8.00 for the combo), I thought that the food was pretty good. The atmosphere was nice. It seems like a nice family place.

Staff - very friendly. Unfortunately, my waiter is a heavy smoker and as a lifelong non-smoker, his aroma was not conducive to dining. Cost - I had the Eggs Benedict and a glass of milk. The cost, with tax, was a little over $15. I ate dinner at a Boston Market later in the week, and my dinner of meatloaf, two sides, corn bread and water to drink, with tax, was a little over $10. Food - The two eggs were smaller than expected, one was hard poached and the other soft. The ham slices were larger and thicker than I expected. The sauce was average. Summary, food was ok, cost too high.

The girlfriend and I went here on a whim because we were actually up before 1pm on a Sunday for a change (haha). I honestly have to say that this restaurant makes me want to get out of bed earlier. We ordered the Watermelon juice and it was so fresh and satisfying. The crabcake Benedict was also amazing. I was nervous to order it because another reviewer said theirs was basically hard boiled but mine were poached perfectly with runny yolks! The wait to be seated was long but that is to be expected on a Sunday morning and the staff was very accommodating despite the rush.

The waiter made triple sure that my breakfast croissant was written down correctly. No ham, add onions. I know they have a lot of customers with dietary restrictions, so I didnt double check. My order was wrong and I received a standard order as if the cook just saw Breakfast Croissant and went on with the day. It wasnt busy or anything at the time. The eggs werent anything to name a restaurant after. The quantity was great, but the quality was not. The waffle was soft and doughy as well. I did like the ranch potatoes, but not enough to make a return trip.

When we arrived, we were seated immediately. After looking at the menu we were ready to order. Our waiter stopped at the table and asked for our drink orders. We told him we were ready to order our meal, and he told us to wait until he came back. Odd, but ok... I ordered a Benedict. It came with hard-boiled eggs on top (see photo). I informed the waiter, and he said "that makes me sad, I hope youll come back and give us another try". It makes him "feel sad"?!? There was no interest on his part to try to remedy the situation.

I love this place- but its not quite polished. Ive only been here twice but both times part of my order (e.g. a side dish, dressing, syrup, etc) was forgotten and I had to ask for it. The food is good and somewhat kitschy, which is right up my alley. Service is really friendly but not particularly prompt. Basically, if you have some free time and dont mind asking for some of things you ordered you should come here. Has that mom and pop sort of feel that puts you at home.
