The price does not match the quality. The ambiance is similar to a Golden Corral. Distracting/bright lighting, outdated furniture, worn out smell to the place The room has those hushed silences occasionally because you can overhear everyone elses table and so everybody kinda whispers. Even though there were plenty of open seats, we waited 20 minutes to be seated. There is a strange cut-out in the wall with a cash bar (no bar seating) and an upstairs waiting room that was empty except for a bunch of old furniture and 20 inch tv thrown in it. The staff wears old greasy polo shirts but otherwise were friendly. We ordered the Prime Rib/Shrimp and the Filet, both $29 and each came with a salad bar and one side. The filet was cold to the touch and looked like jello in the center (requested medium rare) and was smaller than the 9 oz listed on menu. The table next to us sent theirs back also. My girlfriend is a huge fan of Prime Rib, but it came out cold and too stringy to cut properly. It looked like cat food after a dull serated knife struggled to cut it. At least our dogs were impressed with it. The baked potatoes were wrapped in tin foil and had chewy, hard skins, indicating that they were cooked a long time beforehand. The salad bar at Ingles is more imaginative than this one. Overall, the prices did not match the ambiance or food quality. Very disappointed!

Loved the crab cakes ($24). The pimento cheese dip ($8) was not flavorful enough for us. The ribeye 12 oz ($28) was a little grizzly, the black and blue topper was fabulous. I did not see 50 things on the salad bar (no soup the night we were there). Server was great, friendly fast with drinks. Will come back and try a few more items. I did not see a kids menu and not many items on the main menu are kid friendly. Probably not the best choice for children. Review menu online before going if you have a picky eater (adult or child). Review prices online, this is steak and seafood place, most entrees are about $20 per plate, appetizers are $8-10.

Stonewalls was a great place to get a nice steak or prime rib. There are a few seafood options, though somewhat limited. We had a large group (7), and it was a busy holiday weekend. They didnt take reservations, so we just showed up and they were very accommodating seating us in about 5 minutes. The crowd was a good mix of families and couples or small groups. Service was a little slow and a couple of small missteps (missed drink order). But overall service was attentive. I had the prime rib and baked potato. It was very good. All of the others in our group also seemed to enjoy the food and wine. Overall Id rate it very good.

Not a place to take kidlets, but if you want fine dining at a reasonable price (OK, maybe a tad pricey...but well worth it), then this is your place. Best crabcakes Ive ever eaten, and the brides steak & shrimp special was truly outstanding. Great salad bar...not a huge feeding trough, but all 20+ items were fresh and well presented. A little hard to locate in greater downtown Banner Elk, as it sits behind a Pizza shop. But your Garmin will get you there with no worries. BTW, Ex-steakhouse owner/operator, and Id go back again. My kind of place....great food but not pretentious.

I was up this past Memorial Day weekend in Banner Elk for my wedding and we chose Stonewalls to have our reception dinner. It was an amazing experience. All the way from the beginning with our planning to our actual event, the owner Scott was very accommodating, generous, and attentive to our every need. The wait staff and bar tenders were awesome. Scott helped us plan our own personal menu and the food was outstanding. I cant rave enough about this exeperience. We loved it so much we went back the next day for dinner. I cant wait to visit Banner Elk again and visit Stonewalls.

This place has rave reviews. Even my daughter has been more than once and loved it. My trip there was not the their stellar best. This is not your ordinary "run of the mill" eating establishment. But, when they add breaded cod on the menu, you would expect it to be fresh fish! IT IS NOT! They get it, frozen in a box, from their food purveyor! Then they add it to their menu, right alongside all the offerings they do make from scratch! And, their wait staff doesnt even suggest the fresh fish items they do offer. Now, we will all know better the next time!

This is a Golden Corral at triple the price. We stumbled upon this place and wish we had chosen anything around Banner Elk but this. We had 3 waiters in what was a very awkward "passing of the buck" as our first two waiters were cut consecutively (at 730pm) and place was nearly empty, however we were seated in a crowded corner of 3 full tables. Annoying lighting. Nice looking parking lot, and my wifes steak was cooked well, thats about it. My docs were dry and "gnaw off the bone." Baked potatoes were microwaved. Cheap decor and furniture. Never again.

Was looking for a local place for brunch on Saturday--this place didnt disappoint! It was a lovely, rustic-modern decor. We felt a bit underdressed compared to other patrons, but hey-ho. The chef prepared the 4-oz sirloin to perfection; sourdough toast and homemade jam were lovely. Nice way to end our week in the area. Theyll welcome you even if not in post-golf or Sunday best. ;-) (Agree re: no kids menu. Thats not a bad thing for many of us who are dining out to ESCAPE the kiddos.)

The place was beautiful. Food was amazing!! Was there with a party of 8 and all 8 were completely happy with the food. We had a chocolate cake for some birthday girls and they used the flavored olive oils in the cake. Omg to die for. The best part of the night was the balsamic vinegar and olive oil tasting. So many flavors, didnt know there was such a thing. Super excited to cook and bake with these oils. This place is a must!!!! It is pricy but worth every penny.

My wife, two girls and I went while on vacation. The salad bar was very clean and full of excellent choices. I had the steak, medium rare and it was boasting with flavor and cooked to a perfect temperature. My wife had the shrimp scampi and it was so good that our 4 year old ate half of it. Perhaps the best part of the experience was our waiter. A former military man and family man made us feel to home the whole time and kept our girls smiling.

We have been to Stonewalls several times; we have liked it from the very first visit. Service has always been excellent; their salad bar is quite good. My favorite main course is the prime rib. It is superb! The "house cut" is quite generous and I have gotten it rare, which is my preference. They also have full meal specials, which are truly an excellent choice and a very good value. Count it is one of the best in the region.
