I was surprised when I found a Korean BBQ in Asheville. Having never visited the area I only knew the area had a lot of art influence, but no idea about the diversity of the food in the area. I ordered the Bulgogi which came with a few sides, and soup. Overall the Bulgogi was good, the sides were good as well, but nothing amazing. For an unplanned stop while traveling I was happy to have stumbled across this place. Service was decent, there were times where the waitress wasnt around for a bit, but overall everything was taken care of. The food came out quickly and everything was well prepared. Some of the sides were a little lacking in flavor, but Ive found that the sides really vary more than the entrees do when it comes to Korean BBQ. The food was priced about average compared to Korean BBQs back home in Texas. If I make it back out in that area again, I will visiting again. It was good enough to make a return visit.

This place was a pleasant surprise. After hearing from friends that the Korean place in downtown Asheville wasnt really up to par, we looked around for another Korean place. Wasnt expecting much but the food here was excellent. The restaurant was definitely short staffed, but the two waitresses were literally running around the restaurant tending to all the customers. Service was great. I ordered a jjang bong noodle soup, and my sister ordered the Seafood Tofu soup. The broth of the tofu soup was really flavorful. It was probably the best Korean Seafood Tofu soup Ive ever had. The Jjang Bong was pretty good. It came out in this huge bowl so the portion size was really good. You also get 8 side dishes for free as most Korean restaurants do. Would highly recommend this place.

Best Food you can put in your mouth! In case you dont know, Stone Bowl is how they serve certain dishes; in a very hot stone bowl. Your food stays hot and continues to fry your rice. You can stir the food or leave it sit and your rice becomes more and more fried (up to you). My wife and I shared a pork stone bowl and a beef entree. Both were amazing and the sides, like 10, were all fresh and very tasty. The servers were very friendly and the ambience is nice. Dont let the fact that it is in a strip center keep you away. FANTASTIC!

We really enjoyed our dinner here. The atmosphere was comfortable and the restrooms were clean. We lived in Korea for a year and one of the things we noticed about Korea was its outstanding customer service. We can say that our server gave us the very same excellent service. She was charming and informative and kept our water glasses full. At first we were skeptical about the food, but were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. We will be eating at the Stone Bowl again as well as recommending it to friends and family.

The good parts: Waitstaff was great. Podicha was great and unlimited. Seaweed salad and kim bop were good. The bad: My mom got bad bulgogi for the second time. It is too "rough" tasting and seems geared toward American tastes. It is cut thick and was burned on the pan. My jap chae was overcooked and also tasted Americanized. Meh experience when a few adjustments would make it stellar.

I had the Salmon Stone Bowl with Kimchi. The waitress brought out, like 5 mini bowls of delicious kimchi samplers with sushi included!! It was delicious. The bowl was steaming and simmering and I got to literally watch the food "cook" in the stone bowl right there on the table! And the atmosphere was great. Soft Jazz at a Korean restaurant never sounded so good

Some of the best Korean Ive ever had - the Yuk Hoi is fantastic if youre into that sort of thing (call ahead to assure availability) , and of course the Beef Bulgogi is a favorite staple. We go here all the time, also try the one in Arden, just opened up last year - we like some of their stir fry dishes there but the Beef Bulgogi is best at this location...

If you are into Asian cuisines especially Koreans, Stone Bowl is the place to go in Asheville. Bulgogi was perfectly done, the beef is so tender that it sort of melts into my mouth. Kimche is surprisingly good though admittedly, never tried it before because of its spicy reputation but overall, it wasnt bad at all. Very tolerable. Whew!

Recently visited Stone Bowl for the first time and will definitely return. The food delivers the fresh, vibrant tastes one should expect from Asian cuisines, and the price is right! The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgeable, so even if youve never tried Korean food theres no need to worry that youll order something you cant eat.

Excellent! Tried the stone bowl for the very first time. Its a party in your mouth. I cant wait until next time to try it crunchy! My honey got the Galbi (our favorite) it was excellent too! I certain everything else is good too. One can tell when entering the door when it smells good! Cant go wrong with this stop!

I am a sucker for Korean food and this place delivered! Their chicken stone bowl (bibimbop) is top notch, and I really enjoyed the corn that was added. Their udon noodles were great, and the pickled appetizers that come out at the beginning were the best I have ever had (best Kim Chi ever!!).

So good. The stone bowls were beautiful with choice of protein and all kinds of veggies, topped off with an over easy egg. Yum. Served with 7 different condiments: 2 kinds of kim chee, fried sushi, seaweed salad, daikon salad, takuwan, and potatoes. Comfort food at its best.

If you are looking for Great Food, you come here. There is no downtown party or noise but for a serious food, this is. This a review from an Asian American who knows Asian food and with who has been having Korean food in Atlanta for years. And very picky foodie.

We simply love the food here when visiting Asheville. Service is friendly, menu and specials delicious, and the green tea ice cream is great for dessert. I wish they had a few more locations on the west coast!

The food here is authentic and tastes just like food you get in Korea. Lots of options. If you havent had Korean food before, you may not know what to get. A lot of people like the Bulgogi (beef dish).

Delicious, authentic Korean. Dont pass up their namesake, the Stone Bowls! So good. Add spicy sauce and kimchi :D They played smooth jazz which was a little weird but set a nice atmosphere...

Such unique and fantastic food. Never would have guessed there would be such a hidden gem in a plaza. The stone bowl is the obvious choice. Theyre all incredible!
