The experience we had at Nightbell was AMAZING! We are foodies, I suppose, but I dont really care for that word- I just like to eat and try new things. I know I had to try Curates sister restaurant on our most recent visit to Asheville, and Im so glad we did. It is a tapas-style menu, offering bites (for one), and snacks + plates (to share). Everything was so inventive, well-balanced, flavorful, and just DELICIOUS. Do not miss the "deviled egg". As someone with gluten intolerance, I so appreciated being able to easily see what was gluten free and what could be modified to be GF. Lactose intolerance, tree nut allergic, it was all laid out in parentheses at the end of the item description. Whats even better is there was a GF cake on their regular dessert menu. Of course, like everything else, it was to die for. Like a butter filled brown sugar lava cake- it was sweet and salty and perfect. The only thing that didnt add up, was that the restaurant ought to have been packed and though it was a Sunday night, it was very quiet. More for me, but I hope that more people will dare to visit this absolute gem!

Unbelievably fantastic tapas! Small plates/tapas are one of our favorite meals. We really enjoyed our experience at The Nightbell. The food was delicious, the service was perfectly attentive without interrupting, and the ambiance was chic and cozy. We enjoyed the waitress recommendations for several dishes (please try the mushrooms!!!) and branched out on our own a bit, as well. The plate sizes were a great to share with two people, there were several bites in each dish and the cured meats appetizer was much larger than I expected. The server recommended 5 - 8 plates to share for 2 of us, and we ordered 2 apps, 2 "one bites," 3 mains, and 1 dessert. We were pleasantly sated without being stuffed. The plating was gorgeous. We also enjoyed delicious peach drinks, my husband had the special cocktail and I had the house-crafted peach soda. The restaurant is easy to get to downtown and the decorations are awesome--great color combination, cozy tables, cool looking light fixtures, GORGEOUS bathroom. Loved the experience and really hope to return!

We ventured here after a wonderful experience at Curate...we wanted more of Katie Buttons food! We were not disappointed. The place itself is cozy and cool, vintage-y and tastefully outfitted. It reminded me of sort of an old fashion speak easy with a slightly feminine touch and as much care and concern for food as there was drink. The staff was obviously excited about the nights offerings, friendly, chatty (but not TOO chatty), and extremely helpful in decision making. And the food...oh the FOOD. Please, whatever you do, try the "deviled egg. It was definitely my favorite thing. Its rich, creamy, and, with every bite, I closed my eyes, sat back, and slowly absorbed every morsel of flavor. Everything we tried was delicious, and served in tapas style, it allowed us to try a lot of things. Take a few hours out of one night and relax, eat, and drink at Nightbell. We will be visiting there again very soon.

Very deceptive. We ordered a full serving of "clam chowder" and they brought out four spoons with a little taste of chowder and a piece of clam on each one (never seen anything like it!). That was it. Then, we ordered the grilled cheese sandwich with tomato soup. They brought out half a sandwich and when I questioned the waiter he said it tasted "twice as good." How much would it cost them to give me the other half of the sandwich which was about the size of half a piece of Wonder bread. The meal was accompanied by a fusillade of remarks by the kind gentle waiter who was articulate to the point of absurdity, like he had been schooled by the owners to euphemize the bizarre meager portions. The drinks were good and the hamburger was the best thing on the menu. Get a beer and a hamburger and you will get out of there with your hide intact. Better yet, eat somewhere else.

After a great dinner down the street at Storm Rhum Bar I asked our server for a recommendation for grabbing dessert and she suggested Nightbell. We were seated in one of the sofa sections which was perfect since we wanted to chill after dinner. Our server Devon was very informative. He didnt know we hadnt already eaten and started describing the menu and how they do things. I was so interested I let him tell us everything and while I wouldnt take back the meal or experience we had at Storm, I did wish we had another night to eat here. Oh well, next time. We ordered the Peanut Pie, Blueberry-Rye Whiskey Compote, Corn Ice Cream, Goat Milk, Caramel, Sweet Creme Fraiche. Im in the restaurant industry in Richmond and I might have to steal this one. Seriously that good!

Not likely will return. I was at the bar and, if I hadnt already ordered my food, I just would have left. The bar tender would slam hard down onto the mixer cup, every time would go to shake a drink. It was really annoying and even sometimes startling. It was tempered somewhat after one of the hard and abrupt slams startled me but also sprayed my face with liquid. At the price-point of this restaurant, I expect a higher caliber experience and I also felt the food was not necessarily reflective of the prices either. The fish was also a bit over cooked, which wasnt really acceptable.

The food is delicious, albeit experimental. The deviled egg was truly original and unforgettable. I dont plan on going back though because the service was mystifying. As in unimaginably slow. The food did come out quickly, but the cocktail waitress obviously had another job at another restaurant, simultaneously. Seriously, we waited...and waited....and waited to get our drinks, the check, then our cards back. Sweet server, but shamefully inept. Being here took half our night because of the bad service. No thanks.

We called for a reservation specifically for dessert. When we arrived and ordered, they came over after an extended period of time and told us the item we ordered was no longer available. You would think that calling about a specific menu item might trigger the staff to check availability but apparently thats not the case at this restaurant. Wait staff was slow and somewhat rude and the experience was lacking. There is too much competition in Asheville to have such poor service. Wont be coming back

Ignore the strangely kitch decor that doesnt quite work. This place is the real deal. You know how you can fantasize about the perfect meal and then you finally eat at some raved-about restaurant and the food falls flat? This is not that place. Every single mouthful was absolutely exquisite. The kitchen staff, like their sister restaurant Curaté, are sticklers to ensure that if you are gluten-free, theres no gluten. Dairy free, vegan, they can handle it all. And are happy to.

One of the best dinning experiences we have had in a while! Great menu, great service, and great environment to enjoy. We even had our 3 year old with us, which we would not typically do for this kind of restaurant...but without a babysitter we gave it a shot. They treated us like kings and queens, and made great effort to entertain our young son! We had the ceviche, deviled eggs, carpaccio, and dry aged steak...all was excellent and highly recommended!
