Where do I Start. OK, dont waste your time here. Take the time to head to Manhattan and go to Del Friscos or Sparks or Delmonicos. My wife I finally went here after moving to Northern Westchester 2+ years ago. We are and have been avid steakhouse goers. We frequent a steakhouse everywhere we go whether its STK in the Cosmopolitan in Vegas or Duo in Maui were on it. And after reading this was the go to steakhouse in Westchester we decided to try it on a night we could peel away from our 11 month old. It started with an unpleasant greeting by one of the most pretentious, stuck up individuals Ive ever come across at a steakhouse; the maitre d. We had gotten to our Thursday reservation early (7) instead of (8) and asked if we could be seated. The hostess was cut off by this individual and immediately asked if wed like to sit at the bar. I kindly asked that if a table was available wed rather be seated. My wife and I would simply order our drinks from our table. A snide remark ensued and then a backhanded "well we usually ask that out customers keep their reservations" came from the maitre d. OK, but when we entered the dining room and found 7 of about 50 tables filled, I was furious! This guy, who does he think he is?? There was no one in the restaurant. Making this short now... The waiters looked and acted bored of their job.... The appetizers came out in 3 minutes upon ordering them... The lobster bisque had a thick skin on it which it should not have. The steak... Well my wife ordered a junior sirloin med-well which I never recommend. It however came out so chard on one side she could barely eat it. On the other side it looked like it was boiled in water. You know that light gray color... Kind of wet... It was gross. My bone in ribeye (which is the only cut off beef Ill eat) was more boring than a steak from A&P supermarket. The creamed spinach was bland and my wifes fries looked and tasted like they came from the freezer section of you local market. Without ketchup.... Thats right... Ketchup... They were inedible. To top off the night (and maybe Im picky here), if youre my waiter and you dont look at me or look me in the eye when you hand me a check, pick it up or bring it back for signature than there is something seriously wrong with the service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESTAURANT. And this is coming from an avid steakhouse goer. I had a better Ribeye at BLT in White Plains, grilling my own at home, Moderne Barn in Armonk , Del Friscos in Manhattan (my favorite), etc. Dont go here!!!

My husband and I live in city and tried out the Manhattan location this past spring, so when some friends in the area invited us for dinner in Westchester we suggested Benjamins. VERY happy to discover its just as good here as in the city. The classic vibe of the other one was one of my favorite parts so I was very pleased with the ambiance here. We were seated at a fairly normal table, but the service was so perfect we felt like VIPs. Super attentive and knowledgeable about all our questions. At the other location wed had the salmon and filet, so this time my husband got the sea bass and I got the sirloin. Oh my gosh the sea bass might be the best thing Ive ever tasted in my LIFE!!!!! It was like BUTTER (in a good way). Im usually not a fish fan but wow, I definitely ate more than just a taste of his entree. My steak was perfectly cooked and had that perfect dry aged taste while still being nice and juicy. Our friends got the rib eye and the filet mignon, and by the end they thanked us profussely for the recommendation so Im sure their steaks were just as good as mine!! Totally going to come back to both locations as often as I can haha!!!!

I had a horrible experience last night (9/1) which was supposed to be a memorable birthday dinner for my father. We arrived around 6:30 p.m. As soon as we entered it was freezing cold in the entire restaurant. We requested to sit outside. Once we were seated, I could just sense the tension in the air. I am African American and unfortunately I have experienced time and time again in "upscale establishments" that they feel like we should NOT be there! When we were ready to order, my father requested to substitute a side that was told came with the steak he was ordering. The waiter (I wish I knew his name) was very rude stating that was not an option. And would not explain in further detail why it wasnt. The back and forth didnt go well and I knew it was because of our color. He was trying to imply we should know better! We were not treated the same as soon as we walked in the place. We decided instead of dealing with rude service for the rest of the night, we would leave and take our money elsewhere! I hope everyone who reads this will decide to go elsewhere as well!

Jumbo shrimp cocktail, baked clams and fried calamari to start. All were fresh, and tasty. I shared the sliced porter house for two. The steak was prepraed properly, with perfect temperature, an excellent char, and the perfect amount of seasoning. For sides we ordered the homefries, creamed spinach, mashed potato and sauteed mushrooms. The homefries were wonderful and the mashed were light and creamy. The creamed spinach was heavily over-salted, and didnt stack up to some Ive had at other steakhouses. The service was all male, wearing traditional white dress shirts with aprons. The dining room is large, and elegant. The servers were knowledgeable but not quite as polished as some of the competition. Thats why I can only give Benjamin a 4 star rating. Overall the meal was fantastic, and I would definately return. As far as steakhouses outside Manhattan/Brooklyn are concerned, this place is as good or better than anywhere else you will find.

I have been frequenting Benjamin Steakhouse since they opened more than three years ago and I always have great food and a great time. Last Saturday, 7/26, was no different....my friends and I enjoyed appetizers, steak and seafood, several sides (and, of course wine) and it was fantastic. Service is always excellent and I now make it a habit of asking for Lennys section. He is the best: perfectly helpful and perfectly attentive. We stayed late and no one cared or rushed us at all. I really like that. Equally often, I will simply go to the bar and have a drink, eat dinner there....hanging out alone or with friends and I love that I can count on this place for both experiences. The bartender, Benny, is always great. Benjamin Steakhouse is my go to place and am so happy they are in Westchester! (......I live for the wedge salad, steak, broccoli and Benjamin home fries...sounds simple, but whatever they do is magical!.....)

I was recently disappointed on a trip to Peter Luger, which had previously been incredibly consistent. The meat was not any more tender than something from the grocery store and it entirely lacked the nutty flavor of aged meat. I went to Benjamin a few weeks later, in hopes of satisfying the craving. It delivered in excess of expectations. When I asked the maitre d where they get their meat from (Luger historically purchased from Master Purveyors), he mentioned that theyve had to source from both Masters and Pat LaFrieda in order to get a continual supply of quality beef. They also installed aging lockers on site. The steak was exceptional - you could chew it with your gums! The service was excellent and the ambiance was relaxing and cozy. Save room for dessert, because they have one of the best chocolate mousse cakes Ive ever tasted.
