The price of the lunch buffet at the time of this writing is under $10, making it a very good value. That is the best thing about Wappingers Buffet. Also, there is a wide range of foods to choose from, including fried food, seafood, fruits, vegetables and desserts.Nothing fancy, but better than fast food fare at a similar price. If you are concerned about nutrition, you can create a healthy meal there. But there has been one ongoing problem at Wappingers Buffet that makes me wonder whether the low price and food selection make it worth going back. That problem is the surly cashiers/hostesses who greet customers when they first arrive. Since all of these women behave similarly, perhaps they are trained to make diners feel like unwanted intruders. Or perhaps their "rudeness" results from someones lack of cultural awareness about how restaurant employees are expected to interact with paying customers here in upstate New York. Sometimes I just shrug off their discourtesy and enjoy my meal without dwelling on it, but sometimes these women are so hostile and rude that it will negatively affect my overall enjoyment of the meal and I leave feeling petty resentment instead of satisfaction. So lately I have been choosing other restaurants just to avoid unfriendly interactions with Wappingers Buffet hostesses. I wonder if the owners have any idea how these women are undermining their business by making customers feel unwelcome.

I ate at Wappingers Buffet for the first and last time today. The food was awful! It looked as if it had been sitting there for days! The salad bar was particularly bad. To make matters worse, the older Asian woman who "greets" you at the register was particularly unpleasant. Even though it was 2:40 and their sign says lunch goes until 3 pm, she insisted that I pay the higher dinner price because they had already put out the "better" food. I refused because it was still well within lunch time. When I went to get a plate of food, a young girl followed me around the buffet telling me I couldnt eat most of the items because they were for dinner customers only. I was only allowed to eat the dried up lunch food that had been sitting there for hours. How ridiculous! I paid them the extra $5 to eat a couple of soggy, tasteless shrimp, but I will NEVER go there again! This is no bargain at $12 for lunch. Customers really should not put up with this. In addition, before I left the restaurant, I used the bathroom. It was filthy! I can only imagine what the kitchen looks like. The reviewer below who gave this place 5 stars must be a friend of the owner! If you want decent buffet Chinese food and sushi, head down to Hudson Buffet in Fishkill near Walmart. The food, while not great, is MUCH BETTER than Wappingers and the people working there are much nicer.

Just returned from a meal with the family from this horrible place! I have eaten Chinese from NY to CA and this was by far the worst, not only in service but in taste. We arrived and they had cold crab legs on the buffet. We each took a few legs and waited for them to replenish it. That never happened. The wait staff kept telling us "10 minutes" The butter for the crab was also filthy with all sorts of things floating it. I demanded they replace it, which they did. I then grabbed a few dumplings and I took a bite and I nearly threw up. I have no idea what was in it but it looked like no meat I ever saw. It was mud brown, mushy and smelled HORRIBLE! They also had no sesame chicken on the buffet, just dry, hard General Tsos. Id also like to add that the rice was flavorless, the lo mein mongolian beef, spring rolls and hot and sour soup were all also equally as bad and flavorless. The staff in the place also ignored pretty much anything you said. I will never return here again. I will stick to Hudson Buffet even though it is 10 miles further from me.

Debra May is not a health department official nor was she ever a commercial professional chef or her comment would describe the under kept temps with no heat underneath the pans to keep bacteria at bay, you people, if you cant see it with your naked eye it doesnt exist, when you go home, a day later or so your bending over in pain, dont expect to return here and make accusations you cant prove. The egg drop soup smells like a filthy dog bathed in it telling me its days old and curdled. Guess how many health code violations took place here ? Your not going to know this. Ask to see the walk in and browse through the stock, Chicken in a bag of red water, smells like a dead chicken. Beware, chinese does not mean highest quality nor sanitary, if you think this, ever been to Hong Kong ? They live in Poverty I would not bring my family and friends to eat this substandard food, nor would I pay 1.99 pp Sweeping around your table raising carpet dirt around a customer is a no no.

better than hudson buffet???? absolutely not!!! went there around 8pm on Monday with my girlfriend and sister. we were very disgusted with food my first plate the chicken and everything was all dried up inside you can tell that the food has been sitting for awhile and no one came out to mix it or add more to it... on the other hand the SUSHI was excellent that guy there can make some damn good sushi.. all in all my girlfriend got sick from the fish sticks (threw up that night) i know it was the fish sticks because thats all she ate... if you want to eat at a good buffet go to hudsons nere walmart that is by far the best buffet around here food is moved frequently and it is always crowded there!

Great new buffet that opened up where the Old Country Buffet used to be. Has the same layout which is real unique. Great food, big selection, full salad bar, crab legs for dinner, etc. Ive been to every buffet in the Hudson valley and this is one of the top players. Id say the other top buffets would be Hudson Valley Buffet which is a few miles south near Walmart, and a distant third would be Oriental Buffet about 15 miles north. All three right off Route 9. No Mangolian bbq but they have a great sushi selection with somebody always making more. Lunch Buffet is around $8 weekdays and $9 on weekends. Dinner buffet is about $10/12 weekdays/weekends. Highly recommended

Out of all the buffets in the Hudson Valley, this place hasnt given me diarrhea or food poisoning (only one other hasnt as well!). Ive been going to this one since 2012. Yes, Im being blunt because unlike the one near it that is closer to the Stop & Shop in Poughkeepsie, this one always has many of the Asian culture visiting. Trust the establishment when you see that because it shows they wouldnt attend to such a place unless the food was at a good price and made properly for your enjoyment. I never trust any Asian cuisine unless people of that origin are visiting it frequently.

As i just walked out of this buffet just now is because, the boneless ribs.....dry and hard to chew, the eggdrop soup tasted as if a wet dog rolled in it, i am not kidding, the seafood combination. The shrimp tasted like it was yesterdays lunch leftover, paste, yuck. Dinner here is compromise your good health. This is an honest survey. Not many patrons here and i surely see why. Stay away from here. My standards are like Robert Irvine, and im acquainted with him too on facebook. Hoping im not going to get sick now.
