You know what youre getting at this buffet… at least if youve been to a Chinese buffet before. This one is pretty much one of the average, if not larger, of that of the next surrounding Chinese buffet. Decent and "just passes the health inspection" restaurant (although, to be honest, Ive never really suffered a medical condition directly from this restaurant anyway, so dont take the joke too seriously. If it were meant to go, it would have went.) Let me lay a tip for everyone early in the review so that you can get the most out of this buffet: UNLESS YOU REALLY MUST, dine here during weekday lunch hours and avoid weekends and dinner hours. The price is right… during lunch. Thats before 3:30pm or 3pm. Its safe to call up and ask. The food offerings include your average Chinese-American staple… you have your selection of Egg/Spring Rolls, dumplings, fried fish, soup, rice dishes with vegetables and meat entrées, and even some Hors doeuvres and certain Western dishes. They even now serve fresh made Sushi prepped by a sushi chef in the front end of the restaurant for everyone to see. They even serve up custom made-to-order noodles up on the Mongolian bar and (during dinnertime) grill items. Of course you have your desserts and salads. Needless to say, it has the buffet essentials that youd probably want to find. At times, they offer premium seafood… for a premium price. (Im not crazy about that, so I have nothing to review on that.) The service is what you have them do, really. Its a buffet - dont set your standards too high. Youre not in New York City… wait, even the Chinese buffets in NYC have super low standards! The point is, theyll do their best but dont expect the worlds 5-star extraordinary service from the waiters & waitresses. Their duties is to grab you a drink, grab your finished plates and deliver your bill. If you have been reading carefully, they wont ask you how your meal is and what not. Just understand where youre at. If they do their job, at the very least you have to say their service is acceptable. I believe so. Finally, I would like to take the time to explain the whole reason why I advised you, the reader to go during lunch hours. Yes, its the pricing that attracts me sometimes to dine there for lunch. At less than $10 (I usually give $11 for tip-inclusive), one can really fill up and have a meal to get through the day and possibly still be full to push dinner to being a little later. Honestly, dinner pricing only opens up a few more buffet choices (if any on a given day) and the grill. Its not really a big whoop either for $12 (before beverages other than water.) There isnt a lunch pricing on a Saturday or Sunday, keep in mind. I conclude by letting the readers know that this place is decent for a lunch that fills you up and gets you through until the mid-evening hours of the day. The food is alright and the service is on par with the restaurant minimum. You cant expect the world with this buffet, but it hasnt disappointed me. It wont be the same for everyone, but Ive just let you know that I personally approve of this restaurant. As with any buffet, youll just have to wall around the buffet yourself to decide if the buffet items satisfy your appetite.

I used to have all of my childrens birthday partys at Freehold grand buffet within the first few years of opening, the place was clean and the staff was large and had wonderful crab legs on the dinner menu. As time went by the cleanliness had started to suffer and our normal stomping grounds was an occasional place to eat. About four to five years ago we happen to give it another try and ordered another pitcher of soda and the waiter actually went over to another table where the people had just left and poured their half full pitcher into ours and served it to us, I immediately asked him what he was doing and asked to speak the manager, the manager came and was more concerned about getting me away from the other people in the area and could care less about using other peoples leftover drink. We noticed the carpeting was discolored and realized the place was beyond an occasional stop. Well today I had a few relatives that wanted to go to the newer golden corral in freehold but they were packed with a line out of the door, being so close to the freehold grand buffet I suggested we give it a shot because we were all hungry and gave the place the benefit of time and hoping that they cleaned up their act, this place should not be open and I will be calling the board of health first thing tomorrow morning, there were dirty plates stacked all over the place on the end of each aisle, food from those plates was all over the floor, the trays that hold the food were cross contaminated and not one counter space was wiped off, the table I sat at was sticky and the rug had a big white foam looking stain on it, this had to be the absolute worst case of filth and contamination I have ever seen at any food serving establishment, shame on whoever would run such a blatantly dirty and unhealthy place to this point, I can only imagine on what goes on in the kitchen where you cant see! This was not just my area-it was the entire seating and serving areas.

I agree with Mr. Alexander Tsui, This is one of the largest, if not the largest Asian Buffet around this area. If you complaint so much, why even bother or coming back? Get you cellphone and order one of you local Chinese restaurant that instead of STARS they are Rated by Cockroach, so 5 Cockroach would be 5 stars; You get the meaning. Ive been there several times and the salmon is very fresh among everything else I ate. As a teenager My first job was at a Rest Stop ( Manchu Wok, Burger Kin, Sbarros, Starbucks, etc. You name it) and whoever has been in one of this franchises, believe me; You have gotten bugger as a dressing. I remember playing hockey at the back of the kitchen with frozen burgers right before putting hem into the gill. Therefore, why so many complaints??? where did you guys grew up (The ones with the very negative comments)? at The Versailles Palace? By the way, at the time sewer, drainage, or any waste disposal device was available; Ergo, At conferences, Gathering by the so called "Royalty" or any other event, People would used the closest hideout area to defecate or urinate. I have seen C.E.O.s Looking left and right and hen dig for gold in heir noses with heir index finger and hen sticking it into their mouths. I dont know what is the big deal about people going consecutive times to the complain.

It was late when we got here around Wednesday at 9PM, they close at 10PM. In the parking me and my brother-in-law agreed that there would be stale food and little of it. Boy were we wrong! Most of the food looked fresh and there was plenty of it. I occasionally have lunch here because the lunch sushi is pretty decent. I love salmon. At dinner time they had salmon sashimi that was as good as I ever had! I got my moneys worth right there. The clams on the half shell were as good as at any clam bar, unlike the Tokyo buffet clams which are treated with some sort chemical which makes them taste awful. The blue claw crabs were so fresh they were too hot to eat, but they were delicious. I went with a party of seven with no complaints. This place has more good days than not so good days (I never had a bad meal here so I wont say bad days) but its not as bad as people are making it out to be.
