Ive visited Swagat regularly this summer, both for the lunch buffet and for dinner, and Ive been completely satisfied. Ive been to several other Indian restaurants, and this one is my favorite. Swagat has a variety of dishes, some mild (palak paneer, tarka daal, biryani), some hotter. All of them have spices; not all spices are hot or powerfully flavored. (Im really perplexed by the reviewers who say the food has no flavor - perhaps they were looking for fiery hot food.) The dishes here seem more freshly prepared than any other Indian buffet Ive visited (no condensed tomato soup sauces or cheap-vanilla-ice-cream flavored rice pudding here!), and my glass has never been empty. The servers have always been friendly; on our first (and maybe second?) visit at dinner, they served us complimentary rice pudding, garnished with golden raisins. I took my parents here for their first taste of Indian cuisine, and they loved it - and theyre not usually into exotic flavors. My dad, a very picky eater, loved the coconut chicken, and we all loved the variety basket of naan (rosemary, garlic, and onion). I also enjoyed the thin crackers (Im not sure what theyre called), with the different chutneys and sauces. These are also on the buffet. My husband loves the goat curries, which have always been available on the lunch buffet. I recommend a sweet or mango lassi, or, if you really want something new and exotic, a salt lassi. I also have enjoyed the iced tea, which is just a little stronger than most Americans make it, and is subtly flavored with cinnamon and other spices. In short, theres a good variety of well-prepared foods, including hearty vegetarian options, and Id encourage anyone to go here. If youre not sure about Indian food in general or about this place, go ahead and give it a try during the buffet sometime. $9.95 is quite reasonable - probably the most reasonable price for anything Ive found in Westchester county. (Note: If you want an alcoholic beverage, the restaurant welcomes people to B.Y.O.B. (or wine). But its cheaper that way, anyway, right?)

My wife and I tried this place prior to attending a dismally disappointing concert at the Tarrytown Music Hall (Bebel Gilberto - a legend in her own mind). Fortunately for us the restaurant outperformed the performer. We made a reservation but the place was not nearly full. Nonetheless the owner greeted us at the door like old friends and gave us his best table. We ordered a bottle of Pellegrino and the Masala Dosa appetizer. Encouraged by the fantastic start we eagerly ordered a bunch of our favorite vegetarian dishes: Baigan Bhurta, Daal Makkaani, Navrattan Korma, Raita and Plain Naan. As stated with another reviewer it was far too much, but I look forward to enjoying them again for lunch tomorrow. I heard one diner exclaim when her dinner was delivered: Holy crap! Thats enough for two! Each dish was easily the best weve ever had with a home-cooked look, feel and taste. Nothing was over oily or overly spicy and the naan was fresh, dry and perfectly pliable. After dinner our host brought us complimentary Kheer and a check that was 20% lower than I expected. The only downside keeping this from being a 5-Star review is that I could not order beer with dinner but other guests brought their own bottles of wine. I will gladly make that sacrifice for this food - it was that good. Next time well bring wine and friends to share this great discovery with. If you are considering trying Swagat then proceed with confidence. You will be as happy with it as we were and plan to be again.

The Good: 1. Nothing The Bad: 1. The food (Biriyani is made of some junk rice) 2. Tandoori chicken was stinky 3. Gulab jamun was spongy Please continue reading if you are desi/asian Dont expect minimum courtesy if are a desi/asian. If you are a party of 5 and there are two tables for a party of 4 and for a party of 6, they will ask you to sit in a table of 4 and will ask you to adjust you in that table somehow. But if some white skinned party of 4 comes and asks for a table of 6 they give it away even if there are tables available for a party of 4. Also they dont say a thank you while leaving. But if it is a white skinned person they say "Thank you Sir, Please visit again Sir" So now it is up to you guyz....

Food is okay (only okay) but far from authentic. Dosai should be a light and crispy pancake made from fermented rice flour with a stuffing in the centre, the large rolled wheat bread filled from end to end with keema was tasty, but never a dosai. Goan fish curry should be a coconut milk based gravy with mustard seed and curry leaves among the flavourings. Not bland white fish in what Im certain was a shop bought Chinese curry roux. Very poor. Chicken biryani came in a potion so large that there would have been leftovers even if my teenagers had split one between them. The starters were huge as mentioned in another review, and I also felt rushed to finish it. Pleasant enough staff, but all in all not worth the money.

Not great. The owner is very pushy, for example if you want to order one thing, he will continue to recommend things you dont want in an attempt to change your mind. Also, I dont recommend ordering a starter, they are huge, which is not a bad thing, but the owner will eventually rush you to finish them and will take them in order to provide you with your main meal, you effectively get 5 minutes to share a huge dish. There was also a mix up with the order, one of us was given the wrong meal. After this was brought up, the owner felt he was doing us a huge favour in not charging us for that meal, and tried to extort a huge tip for his massive dose of gratitude.

I will give it four stars for the following reason (s). First Indian buffet I have been to where Chaat Papri, Indian milk-tea (not the tea bag type) and coffee are included in the same price. Walla, six to seven dollars saved. Beside dessert they serve fruit as well. This was on a Saturday, mind you. The food, in my personal opinion, is more appealing to non-Indians. Its bland which is understandable. The cup filled with fresh green hot peppers helped me make my food spicier and satisfy my taste buds. The hosts greet and send you off warmly.

The buffet is very good. There are a lot of choices of rice and a protein. Their Naan is fresh as well as their chutneys. The buffet price is reasonable ($10 as of 2/2014), the restaurant is very clean, & the staff are very friendly. The reason they are getting a 4 out of 5 is because of the false advertising on their "website coupon." The manager says the coupon is only for dinner entrees, but that is not stated on the coupon. The coupon is for 10% off entire check. *Please note, parking is horrible (On Street Paid Parking).

A nice roomy area in the center of town. Great options for dining. Its BYOB, so if you want alcohol with your meals, you need to bring whatever. Theyre fine with that. They were very accommodating with the large group my friend invited for his birthday party last month and very helpful with us. They ask if you want your meal spicy or "American spicy." I wish I went with spicy cause "American Spicy" is slang for "not really spicy" it seems. Had a really good time eating here and look forward to going back.
