The food, everything lunch and the delivery are solid. For dinner, the dining area is cramped and the service is often slow, but the food is totally worth it! The lunch menu is the best value. The delivery special is fabulous. The beer and wine prices are incredible. Soups: the butternut squash soup and the mulligatawny soup are both tasty. Apps: veggie and chicken somosas are outstanding; masala crab cakes are moist; and lamb spring rolls are meat-heaven. (I think I tried the pakora one time and was surprised that I liked it. When not ordering the lunch or delivery special, the sampler platter is definitely the way to go!) Nan: fantastic. Vegetarian & Vegan Entrees: the chana masala is so superb that Ive never tried another veggie entree! (I probably order this 1 out of every 3 times.) Non-vegetarian Entrees: fennel chicken curry is my favorite, & they make it as spicy as I request! Lamb rogan josh is also fantastic, and the chicken korma and lamb korma are yummy as well. Dessert: cant go wrong - kheer, gulab jamun and mango lassi are all wonderful. The basmati rice is always cooked to perfection. I have probably eaten other items that I failed to mention, (and they must have been good b/c Ive never had anything but great food at Seva,) but the ones I listed are the ones that stand out. Ive been a regular since it opened, so its hard to keep track. Everyone is so nice, including the owner, which makes up for the table service being slow.

After trying all the Indian places up and down Brooklyn and Queens, Ive discovered a really simple way to get an idea about the restaurant: If the condiments (the chutney and tamarind sauces and the papadam bread) suck then bail because the meal wont be any better. Ive had some god-awful Indian food in this town too, and that one rule seems to hold up. But here, the condiments are always fresh, the bread is crispy and tasty, and Im not kidding, Ive never had a bad meal here. I always get the Prix Fixe menu ($15) with the butternut squash soup (which is AMAZING) and the chicken tikka masala is pretty close to perfection. You never get a bad piece of chicken in the bunch, which is usually pretty easy to hide when youre covering something with so much sauce. The only thing I could complain about is the vegetable samosas, (which are enormous) theyre a little too much bread and a little dry and crispy sometimes. My friend thought the chana shaag wasnt salty enough, so thats up for debate. But wherever youre from, its worth making the trip here, theyre right off the W and N train in a really cute neighborhood.

I have been eating at Seva for the past few years and have never had a bad experience here, nor did not enjoy all the food on their menu. They have most of the standard Indian fare, but there is a distinct sense of quality in every bite. They pack their portions into each metal bowl they serve it in, from mouth watering meats, or spicy veggie meals. The meals look small at first glance, but I have never left without a full stomach. Their nan is always soft, buttery and warm and compliment every meal perfectly. The wait staff is attentive and friendly, even when busy. One point I should make is that this is a small location, bordering on cramped at peak hours, so try to get there later in the evening, or earlier in the evening.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Astoria, possibly all of New York! The food is always so satisfying and home-y, pretty much like mom-made food that I grew up on. Love their lamb korma especially and the fennel chicken curry which is very simple and comforting, home style curry. The paneer makhani and parsi shrimp curry are also amazing, as are most of the dishes they serve really. And the service is always top notch, super friendly and helpful staff and delivery is quick. My only "complaint" abt Seva is that they havent changed their music playlist in five years -- always playing those old Indian Bally Sagoo remixes. :P

Went for the first time recently, one night after getting off of work late. All I wanted was something warm & comforting. Ordered the butternut squash soup, on recommendation of the calming waiter (Id asked for something not oily...). Even though that was all I ended up ordering, much to my embarassement for making them work for such a measly bill, throughout my time there I was treated politely, kindly and never made to feel rushed. The waiter even told me that I was free to stay and relax! Now that is good service. And the soup, with its layers of flavour, was excellently spiced. Delicious. Thanks!

This restaurant serves really good Indian food. It might have been the selection but it was delicious. We ordered the samosas, which were good. The chicken tikka marsala, onion kulcha and garlic nan. Everything was very good. The service was excellent. They offer a three course lunch special for $7.50 and a delivery special which includes a choice of three courses for $13.50. They also have a buffet at lunch and dinner. All reasonably priced.

They offer a 3 course prix fixed menu which is a good deal. Lamb spring roll was amazing. Curries were a little on the dry side. I like when curry is saucy enough to eat w rice, it was dryer like a paste. Dessert was rice pudding Which was very good. Also had coconut naan which was unique and crispy. Service was excellent but just wish the curries were better.

When I think of Indian food, I definitely think of Seva. For years it was my go-to Indian take-out, but now that Im in Brooklyn I just dream about Seva. Service is great, food is great. I cant say much about the atmosphere as its been years since Ive actually been in the restaurant itself. As for value, its on par with most Indian joints.

Very good Indian buffet. Not a lot of choices, but all good, including fairly tender chicken, which is not usually the case. Service seemed clueless. Took them a relatively long time to pick up used plates when took a clean plate from the buffet. Great value. Highly recommended for good value weekend buffet.

Did not like the food, went all the way to Queens from Manhattan for authentic Indian cuisine. The chicken dishes were chewy and the first serving of papad they gave us was stale. We asked for a change and they gave us a freshly prepared plate, why wouldnt they do that in the first place?! Disappointed

My friend and i went to this resturant on a friday night. Everything was great except the food. We went here with high expectations because of all great reviews and 4square points. I had the lamb roghani it tasted a bit bitter. The mango lassi was good. All in all i had an ok experience.
