Very expensive. Lunch for one adult and one high school student was almost $40. We ordered the bulgogi bento lunchbox with seaweed soup and the dolsot bibimbap. The waiter was uninterested in helping a vegetarian order, which made it stressful. At first he said you can get any of the lunch specials without the meat. I found one description that clearly did not have meat and he said that has meat, why dont you just get a salad? Then I found the tofu bibimbap, he asked me can you eat that, does it have meat? Who works at Ssambap? I dont. Anyways, it came out. Lunch comes with kimchi and miso soup. The bento lunch box comes with soup, salad and chef special. .he never explained that you dont have choice of soup- so the seaweed soup was $3 extra. All the other staff we interacted with were great. The food overall was good. Its a very authentic place with Korean speakers, lots of college kids. If we ever return, itll be for a treat and well ask for a different waiter.

I enjoyed my experience(s) at Korean BBQ. For my first time, I was pretty critical with my thoughts about the place as I was starving and the Korean BBQ place has recently opened. My review of the place has changed from the last couple of times I went. Now they have a lunch special--I got the spicy pork bento box. It was DELICIOUS. I fell in love with the shumai that was included in it. I also highly recommend the dolsot bibimbap. The taste is just delicious! If you were interested in the barbeque section (BBQ), definitely have a group of people to eat bulgogi and kalbi. The staff are pretty courteous and food came as fast as possible. Though there was a time in which it took a while to get my food wrapped up to be taken away, it was because there wasnt a lot of servers working that day.

My Full Review is on G+ with additional pictures: My daughter and I had the pleasure of enjoying a traditional Korean BBQ dinner at Ssambap, Stony Brook, New York. The restaurant decor is the definition fusion. Traditional wood moldings trimming out LCD illuminated shogi screens are the main attraction. There is a modest size bar that seems more functional then a place to actually relax with friends. When a restaurant says that they have Korean BBQ, they could mean that they have the in-table hibachis so you can BBQ your own meal, or they could mean that they prepare the BBQ in the back and serve it to you. It is very important to ask this question ahead of time, before arriving and being disappointed. Ssambap offers both styles.

I wouldve given Ssambap a four if their prices werent so RIDICULOUSLY high. They completely take advantage of the fact that theyre one of the only Korean BBQ places out in Suffolk and I think thats kind of crappy. Also, the host was kind of rude. However, the food IS good. I tried quite the selection of plates, and everything from their appetizers through their desserts was actually really delicious. The environment is definitely nice, and I would go again if they lowered their prices, which just isnt worth it.

I didnt like the service. The waiter I had was great but there was actual shouting between what I think was the manager and one of the waiters. I didnt like the food there at all. It was overpriced and my soup actually came cold! I could not believe it! For anyone that wants great delicious Korean food save yourself the trouble of coming here and just take a small drive over to Flushing or Bayside.

This place has great food but my problem is the sevice is not great. They see you at the beginning , get your order then leave you high and dry. I have experienced this twice when dining with them and not sure why the treat us like this. If you want people to come back ..please at least have better service. I realize it gets busy but its so hard to get the waiters attention sometimes.

It is always a pleasure to eat here. We like to have our food served in the hot stone bowls, where your food cooks as you eat it. (remember to keep stirring, or the rice will burn and stick to the bottom of the bowl before you can eat it!) I believe it a good indicator of high quality Korean food when you see Korean patrons eating beside you. (were not Korean)

Experience here really depends on what you get. The BBQ seats arent worth it, who wants to cook your own food? Its slow and not as good as other options. Get the Ssambap. Its like Korean Burritos. Best option on the menu, you get three. Get one each of the first three styles listed. Seafood pancakes are also nice.

Cold noodles in beef broth was excellent hot summer day meal!! Best Ive ever had. Put some of the mustard and vinegar they give you in it. Use the scissors they give you to chop the noodles up. Fried Shrimp dumplings and shrimp pancakes were excellent too. Service was great. Ill be back.

I was waiting for a local Korean BBQ place, and this restaurant met all my expectations. The food was very delicious, service was fast, and i felt that although they could have been more attentive, they did check in on us. Overall it was a great experience, would definitely go back.

Food was okay but hated their service. Instead of 2 plus beers had one because no one came to check in the middle of eating. These servers should learn to be friendly and smile. Made us wait a long time before coming to take orders.

Not very authentic, but still tasty. Dolsot Bibimbap is my usual goto dish for Korean. The egg was scrambled on top (should have been fried or lightly cooked) and the veggies were generic and not very fresh. Kimchi was ok quality.

Everything about this place is really great. The food is off the charts, the service is always good. Ive never had a bad meal. I find the barbeque to not be worth the cost as everything on their regular menu is good.

Delicious food, helpful and friendly service. I wasnt familiar with this style of "at the table" barbeque when I arrived, but the waiter got me comfortable with it real fast. The salad was delicious and fresh also.

We were deciding between this place and Red Tiger, and opted for this one bec it was quieter. I thought the food was stupendous. Its fantastic that you can get good Chinese food even in a college town.

Decent quality. Not as good as the ones in Queens. The dishes come CLOSE to what they should taste like but NOT QUITE there. But I go there since it is the EASTERNMOST korean restaurant on the island.

Its a pretty nice place I have to "say". Service isnt very fast, its actually slow. Food is just about OK, nothing great. Will not come back there. Its far better in fort lee and better in NYC ,....

Wonderful service, authentic and delicious Korean BBQ. We showed up half an hour before they opened by mistake, started pulling away and a waiter came out motioning for us to come in.

Fantastic lunch experience. Waitress/chef was kind, informative, quick on the drinks and just all around lovely. Highly recommend. The money you spend is well worth it.

Fantastic foods and friendly staff. I went in with some friends a few days ago. We told our waiter we had no idea what we were doing so he walked us through everything.
