No. 1 Rochester in Gates is a hidden treasure! The food is authentic and incredible. The staff are all Chinese and will make anything for you exactly to your liking - even specials you have had elsewhere but are not on the menu. I gave them a menu I got while visiting China and pointed to a pork dish that I loved and she said "OK". Ten minutes later it was I was back in Sichuan Province! The chef is a genius. The prices are extremely reasonable. What a wonderful place. Dont let the decor fool you. Forget all those fancied up Asian places. If unbelievable authentic mainland China cuisine is what you are after then try the Gates No 1! You will never eat Chinese anywhere else again.

I love Number 1 Chinese. I have been going to No. 1 for over 20 years and highly recommend the food. Now that I am retired I go there every Tuesday. I always get the same thing every time. Shrimp and Chicken with Peking Sauce. It is delicious! I highly recommend the food.

My 1st visit there and the service was terrible. The girl working taking the orders was very unprofessional and and acted like she had a problem taking an order and then the food was very dry. My 1st and last time time there...will not be GOING BACK!

Horrible. This place used to be good. I just ordered today for the first time in a couple years and I can say it was bad. Chicken was gooey and almost gummy in texture. Like I said, they used to have very good food.

Been going here since it opened . My daughter in law and grandsons are Asian and when they visit we always order there . Reasonable prices. Great food. Always ready in a flash.

Food is good sometimes, other times not so much, place is dank and dark so dont expect to take a date here, all in all its on the bad side of average

I prefer this one in gates. Its a step above typical take-out (although nothing spectacular) and I have never had a problem.
