Sushi was not good - The service was even worse. The prices were reasonable but I would gladly pay 5X the amount if it tasted good and had even mediocre service. My experience is as follows: I went to the Sushi bar to get a to-go order. Service was excruciatingly slow, granted the hibachi tables were full but there was only 3 other people at the Sushi bar. It took 20 minutes to place my order after telling the Hostess I wanted some Sushi to go. I then asked the chef to flag a waitress for me so I could get a beverage while I waited. 20 minutes later after more inattention I hailed the hostess who begrudgingly brought me a drink – she slammed it down on the bar in front of me in obvious disdain. A full hour after I ordered my meal I walked out of the restaurant with my 4 rolls. I ate me meal 10 minutes later and my first thoughts were what a large mistake I made. The size of each roll was small; the taste was just plain bad. My Nigiri’s rice crumpled upon touching. I’ve had better Sushi in the middle of a desert. Verdict: I’d rather poke myself in the eye and eat some cat food (which would have way better flavor) then go back to this restaurant. 1/5*’s – one star bonus because they gave me the correct order and I didn’t die from food poisoning.

This used to be my favorite place to eat in the area. My husband and i used to go quite frequently but we noticed a change in the attitudes of many of the employees. The last date we ate there 8-2016 and the chef Luis was horrible towards us and we were the ONLY customers at the grill. He didnt interact with us and he burned our shrimp by cooking all of our food at the same time. Usually if other patrons are at a grill with us he gives out most of our shrimp to people who dont order (since we were his only customers this time he burned it) so in order to get an adequate amount of food, we have to order double...the manager just smiles and take your $$ when you complain. All of this after waiting for more than 35 min for the chef Luis who came out and stood at another table with our food and held conversations with the patrons of another grill. Now believe it or not I have a couple more bad service encounters at this particular Kobes. We kept going back anticipating that the service would be like it was when we first started frequenting the establishment. Well...guess we will find another favorite spot or just stay home!

I ate there and when I checked the charge posted to my bank account it was about $25 more than the amount I signed for. The folks at this restaurant claimed it was VISA or my bank that put a hold on the addition amount bec. they knew it was a charge at a restaurant and it as for a tip if one was included. MY BANK TOLD ME THAT IS ABSOLUTELY NOT TRUE -- the amount is authorized by the merchant (KOBE) and not the Bank. So essentially, they run your card for a higher amount. I paid the bill with my check card and left a cash tip -- no need to authorize a higher amount. I have eaten at tons of restaurants -- and classy and expensive ones where the tip alone was in the $100s and NEVER EVER did I have my check card be debited for any amount more than I signed for at the restaurant. This a rip-off and they are not being honest when they tell you "its not us -- its your bank" They claim this "hold" will come off in a day or two -- you can be sure, if it does not, there will be hell to pay.

I FOREWARN you all! I worked here for a year. We started having customers call in complaining of nausea and throwing up either days or weeks or hours after eating here and why? The manager would make us clean the tables with degreaser. Why is that such a big deal? It is an extremely hazardous chemical that all businesss have to keep in a confined area because it can cause stomach cancer if consumed or inhaled. Cleaning the tables that people were eating on with it.. Yeah. Also I was cleaning out the bar one day and noticed that after I had pulled a bottle of margarita mix that it had a gooey texture substance floating in it. It was 2015 and the due date was 2012.I am no longer employed here and if it werent for desperation would have quit after the first day. They do not keep count of stock of things in there or check due dates. I know this from experience. Never eat here if you care for your or your familys own well being..

Ive been here at least five times in a month. The sushi is good and fresh. The hibachi is very good. Each chef adds their own twist to the hibachi show. The hibachi is delicious, and the portions are large. The prices are very reasonable. I havent ordered a mixed drink, but the one my friend had didnt get a very generous pour. Stick to the Japanese beer if youre looking for a reasonably priced buzz. The appetizers are good as well. The prawn and veggie tempuras were cooked to perfection. Atmosphere is typical of a large hibachi grill. Despite the size of the venue, expect to wait 15min or more during peak dining. This place gets pretty busy, but its worth the wait. The servers are very receptive to comments/requests.

We went to Kobes to celebrate my g/f getting her cert and a holiday dinner tonight. First off let me say the food was great. The service on the other hand was horrible. We were seated right away with another party at our hibachi table, yet had to wait over an hour for the chef. Then the server got our order wrong as well as some of it not even showing up. The party seated with us also got their orders messed up and over charged. If you want great food and service take an extra 20 mins to drive down to Charles Town and go to the Japanese Steakhouse across the street from the casino, Much better service and food even cheaper prices and bigger portions.

Dont bother with a reservation, they will NOT seat you within an hour of your requested time. We found some variety of hair and rodent droppings in the food, (the Health Department has closed this place repeatedly), insect infestation in the restroom, and the personnel cooking our food DID NOT wash their hands upon leaving said restroom. Its too bad because the concept is good, and Lord knows, Martinsburg needs good restaurants, but this place is a poorly managed, customer unfriendly, health hazard. You have been fore-warned!!!

The food was great, but our server was very absent minded. She obviously forgot to put in our sushi order, we had to ask about it when she brought out our soup/salad, to which her response was that the "kitchen was slow". It then took another 10 minutes for her to bring it. She was a bit short tempered when I asked for another drink & she wound up messing up our bill. Perhaps she was having an off night, I dont know. We will return because the food was very good, but I will try to avoid this server if at all possible!
