What an outstanding place to eat! I went here Sunday night to celebrate my one year anniversary with my girlfriend. The food was incredible, and the service was equally on point. I also love the quaint, quiet atmosphere which makes this the perfect restaurant for date night. Everything about this restaurant exudes quality and class. I ordered the pork osso bucco, and my girlfriend ordered a dish from one of the specials, which was the portofino. The food was simply to die for, and the portion sizes were more than adequate. Our waitress, Holly, provided some of the best service I have ever had at a restaurant. She was super professional, and was attentive without being obtrusive. This is simply a one of a kind restaurant which, sadly, the Rochester area has too few of. The closest comparison I can think of would be the Park Ave Pub, but I feel that the Lamplighter is much better. The prices here cannot be beat for the quality of the food and the service. I will definitely be back!

Wish we had read the previous review. Portion size for crab cakes were miniscule. Only when we received the bill did we also find out that they charged $2 for each refill on a childs soda pop - 6 oz. glass mostly ice. When talking to maitre de to complain about this, he led us to believe we needed to talk to the manager, who unfortunately, he said, was not on duty. Turns out, he was THE OWNER and REFUSED to do anything about this. When we confronted him about this, he then DENIED he told us to talk to the manager. The whole episode left a very bitter taste in our mouth, literally and figuratively. We will be visiting Rochester a lot since our son is now a student at an area university. Needless to say, we will NEVER return to the lamplighter.

The food was not up to the prices that they charge... there was three if us and the bill came to 112... Dont get me wrong, I dont mind paying alot for food that is amazing and so worth the price! But this definitely was not! There is no sides with the entrees either! The restaurant was completely dead And it took forever to get our food! The red sauce needs allot if work! I am Italian and this was not even close to my standards! Should of went to Mr. dominics! The same prices for more food and better quality!

This place was fantastic and I will be back. I was visiting a customer in Rochester and she recommended we dine at Lamplighter. Small, but intimate and the owner and all of the staff couldnt have been more accommodating. The food was fantastic, offering both traditional and different cuisines. Our waitress Erika, couldnt have been any more professional and knowledgeable. Highly recommend.

Excellent, welcoming service, menu and wine list. The food is always delicious and appropriately priced. We have been going to Lamplighter for at least 25 years, have never once been disappointed, and appreciate the new owners positive innovations. We highly recommend Lamplighter but advise newcomers that, unlike what we assumed on our first visit, this is not a family diner.

Took the fiance there for dinner tonight. Filet was excellent and the creme brûlée was to die for. Very neat place. Definitely a different atmosphere with no cell phones allowed in the dining room. Highly recommend for a quiet intimate dinner.

The food here is excellent! We work two doors down and we have tried the burgers, pasta, salad, lobster mac & cheese and everything was made perfectly. Prices are great for the quality of food! & they have great customer service as well.
