The only reason one star is even part of this rating is so I could leave a response.. After waiting a half an hour for water and bread our frazzled waiter finally came over to take our drink order, we then as a party of 6 finished our bread and was offered more and then continued to wait another long stretch to not have it come out until after our food had been brought out, mind you an hour and a half after we had been sitting there. The waiter was less then attentive to our table and when he brought the bill before asking how everything was if as a group of 6 we would like the bill split up, we all were beyond shocked at the price of our meal and the extremely high gratuity that had already been added to our bill, from a server who we had spoken the manger about being rude a number of times. When the manager approached he was not genuine nor sypathetic to the fact that we had now been at the restaurant for three hours and were all beyond unsatisfied especially myself for spending 76$ just on myself. He then continued to push blame on to his other employees instead of apologizing for his server who the OWNER himself said he had only had four tables and couldnt understand why the service was so poor. The only great part about this evening was the company of my girlfriends and your vallet service.

We went here on a Saturday night for a late dinner. The bar was very crowded but the hostess said she could seat us in 30 minutes in spite of our lack of reservation so we decided to wait at the bar. We should have left then because it was clear that the restaurant was getting slammed and the bar was being run by some of the owners wives who, while extremely friendly, obviously didnt know how to bartend. About 45 minutes went by and I asked the hostess about our table and she assured me it would just be a bit longer. Another hour went by and were still not seated. I try to flag down the hostess again to ask about our table and she responded with some nasty attitude that was completely unnecessary. In the end, some of the owners wives intervened and we were seated right away (which was probably someone elses table). The food was pretty good actually but the free calamari appetizer that was given to us for compensation was overcooked and chewy. I can understand when a restaurant is busy and theres a long wait but just let your patrons know and maybe theyll come back another time. We havent been back here since because of the poor attitude of the hostess and general chaotic atmosphere in the restaurant that night.

A great place, with great food and a great location! We were celebrating our 2nd anniversary together and my girlfriend and I wanted to find a local place while stopping in Rochester. We booked a reservation 2 hours in advance and they had availability for 7:30 pm. We pulled up to the restaurant, they did offer free valet parking, but we wanted to park the car ourselves. We did drive around a bit for parking, but we did end up finding a spot about a block away from the restaurant. We walked in and asked if we could have a table outside, we had to wait 5 minutes for them to prep the table, which was fine with us, we got a drink at the bar and before we finished our drink they were ready to seat us. The entrees were great! We recommend the lobster bisque to start! Everyone from the host, the bartender, the waitress, and bussers were great! Whenever we go back to Rochester we will stop at Pane Vino again!

We had reservations for a party of 8 Audits and 4 children at 6:00 PM. We arrived about 5 minutes late, (traffic/parking), in were the hostess, abruptly, said that they had another party assigned to our table at 8:00 PM. At the time, I didn’t think this would be a problem, since there, (Very Pricey),Menu was very limited to there specialty dishes. It took our server over a 30 minutes to come back to the table to take our, stating there were very busy, (which means to me overbooking with not enough help ). Then we had to wait another hour and 20 minutes before the first meal came out. The meal I order ,( $26 over priced Chicken French ), was very gritty and tough, along with cold pasta. The rest of the group had similar issues with the meal, after just along wait. The ambience of the restaurant is top notch, but the service , the food and the prices all suck. I will not go back again

My wife and I dined at Pane Vino on Friday August 25th. Our reservation was for 8pm. When we arrived at the restaurant it was dead. Whenever you go into a restaurant on a Friday and it is not busy you start to second-guess why you are there. We had been there several months before and the food and service were great so we thought it was an off night. However the food was less than good and moreover it was cold. My wifes side salad was comprised of greens on a plate, there were no vegetables croutons or anything..just greens like they were dumped out of a bag with dressing. Our waiter spent most of his time talking to the hostess and further the place was full of flies and moths. The place is definitely on the downside. Also all the great reviews of this place seem to be written by the same person, as the writing style is very similar from one to another.but you be the judge of that.

Service was good. Waited a while for our food. Knowing it was a "great italian restaurant" I would have expected better pasta entrees! Same selection I could get from Olive Garden. I had tortellini with peas, bacon, and mushrooms. WAY too many onions and hardly any bacon. Pasta was obviously store bought and it had sat in the window dying waiting for my husbands dish to be ready. Worst of all was the "live music." A man, playing a synthesizer with preset musak, as he played along and sang? At least his voice was in tune. I could barely hear my husband speaking to me. The best part of the meal was the appetizer which was seemingly handmade butternut squash ravioli. But for $12, could we have at least gotten 4 of them so we could have shared instead of three?

Their surf & turf special was grossly over priced (which was not known until the bill came), and the portion was VERY small. Service was poor. We had to have another server find our waiter so we could get a 2nd round of drinks. Took him quite a while to finally take our order, never checked on us after delivering our food. Bill came with gratuity already added (even though we were only a party of 6). The bill was over $400 and less than 5 MINUTES after paying we were asked to leave so they could seat another party. We left IMMEDIATELY without saying a word, and went to another restaurant for after dinner drinks. There are A LOT of better places to spend your hard earned money within the city of Rochester

Pane Vino promised a lot with its charming decor and nice atmosphere, but what let it down ultimately was the food. I started with the calamari: the portion size was good but although they were nicely cooked (and not overcooked) they were a bit bland. Even the marinara sauce wasnt that great. As an entrée I had the chicken Anthony which was decidedly poor: chicken swimming in a soupy broth with sloppy cheese and peas to garnish. I felt that the dish was a homogenous mush with no real contrasts or interest - I dont know if this was a bit of bad luck but it wasnt great. Otherwise the meal was fine, but unremarkable; the service was decent and the Chianti was surprisingly good for the price.
