The food was good. Nothing to write home about, but good. However, the restaurant had difficulty dealing with a large group (35 people) and totally screwed up our checks. The financial part of this equation, which really speaks to integrity, was such a fiasco, Ill never go back. The restaurant would only give one check per table. Eventually, the checks were split, but the wait staff acted like this was a huge inconvenience for them, and they were doing us a favor. Have they never dealt with a group, before? So, after being quoted a price of $30/person for the meal, including the tip, I get a bill for $81 for two people. Okay, we had one beer and one glass of house red wine, so with tax, maybe $81 is about right. But then, Im told that my alcohol was put on a separate bill, and was handed another check for $15, in addition to the check for $81. The only itemization was a line showing a 20% tip was already included in the price. They didnt even break out the taxes. So I left Vivace thinking I got ripped off, a little. I paid for my alcohol twice. It was an extra $15. Big deal. Ill live longer if I just blow that off and move on. Today, I get a statement from my bank. An additional 20% tip was added on top of the meal, and drinks, which I was charged for, twice. And on top of the taxes. So a meal for two, with one drink each, at a cramped table, with painfully slow service, was about $115. I talked with someone else from our party. The same thing happened to him. Dinner for two for $115 is not $$. Its more like $$$$. Arrivederci, Vivace.

Last night I went to Vivaces with friends and it was fantastic! We sat outdoors on the upper terrace where the ambiance was truly European. To start we had calamari with a smoked tomato aioli that was incredible! The perfect blend of heat from the peppers with the acidity of the aioli. We also started with some roasted cauliflower and olives. All of our appetizers were fantastic! For dinner, I had chicken marsala. The mushrooms were locally sourced from a.m.fog, which I appreciate. The red sauce on my pasta was delicious and just the way I like it! In terms of service, we could not have asked for anything better. I had never been to Vivaces before but I will be back soon! Excellent all around!

The food was very good. I was very disappointed when I told the server who was very nice that there was something strange in the bottom of my wine glass and I would like to speak to someone about it. Apparently the only person who I could speak to was the bartender and he could not come to our table which was upstairs. Without even looking at it, he sent word by the server that it was sediment. He might have been right, but I had never seen such a thing before all strung together like a curly potato skin. I would have really appreciated a little more concern from the establishment. As we were leaving the manager came up, but to me it was too little too late as we had paid the bill and were leaving.

This officially was one of the worst service I have experienced in a restaurant. The food was good, but the service just killed it for me. To top it all a friend of ours forgot his camera at the restaurant and came back to pick it up 10 min later to find the hotel staff to have take like 30 pictures using his camera and then deleted them. The camera keeps track of the pictures taken and so we discovered the same. No way I would recommend such a place to anyone.

We arrived for lunch right when they opened and got seated right away. We ordered their signature dish the seafood soup with fettuccine. Absolutely delicious! The service was high class (as expected). Server was knowledgeable, friendly and very accommodating. For dessert we got the tiramisu. Elegant atmosphere, big windows, nice views (located in the foothills), piano music.

Food, Service, atmosphere, price, all great. We heard that it was under new ownership so a group of us went a few weeks ago and then we went back. It was great. We had a great antipasto and different chicken veal and shrimp dishes. We all agreed that finally Charlottesville has a good neighborhood Italian restaurant with good prices and excellent service

Bar area has a nice atmosphere. Great paninis! The food in the restaurant area is very good and decently priced and affordable with a nice variety. Theres plenty of space and usually quiet for a intimate dinner with your significant other. Also, the patio is perfect for CVilles many warm-weather months if youre only interested in dessert and/or drinks.

Had a wonderfull dinner with my Mom last night the sausage and polenta apetizer was amazing. We had dinner on the patio it was a beutiful night. Service was excellent. She had the fish special which was grilled swordfish and I had the housemade pasta bolonese. We split the homade cheesecake with cherries. Local coffee was a perfect way to end our meal!

The food was wondeful. I loved their meatball appetizer and wine selection. Their house wine was sub-par, but we got some Argentine Malbec that was worth mentioning. It is a great atmosphere, and they also have gluten free pasta available. Great place to take a date, have a date night, or to have a group of friends go for a more upscale night out.

Locally sourced ingredients and incredible recipes prepared by great chef. My sister and I ordered the lasagna and ravioli and shared. OMG...we couldnt decide which was better! This is exceptional food. Also had a nice Malbec from Argentina. Will definitely return the next time we are in town.

They accidentally charged us twice. We spoke with the manager who said he would reverse the second transaction immediately. Two weeks went by and still nothing from them. Were disputing through our credit card company. Travelers beware! And keep those receipts for proof.

The lounge is one of my favorite places in Charlottesville to have a cocktail with friends. I rated Vivace 5 stars mostly based on the lounge as my experiences with the waitstaff in the dining area of the restaurant have frequently been way below par.

Vivace is some of the best Italian in Charlottesville and a little out of the city busyness you can relax on the patio or in their huge bar. Friendly staff and literally the best bread in town. Highly recommend!

Slightly gothic in a grandmas house sort of way, if you come prepared for the decor youll dig it. Food cant be beat! Cool location on the edge of town, great patio and awesome rat pack style lounge bar.

Extraordinary dining experience. Great ambience. Mature, knowledgeable, engaging staff. Terrific Italian cuisine. And the owner and curator of Vivace is ,yes, a modest Yalie!

Consistently good food. Dont miss the white pizza! Love the vibe, both indoors and outside on the patio. However, service is somewhat less consistent.
