First off its so overdue that there is a BBQ place in Port Jeff, and second, Im pumped that its AWESOME! I have been smelling their smoked food for the past few weeks and finally decided today was the perfect day to go grab an early dinner with my daughter. Let me break down this review as fairly as possible- The simplicity of their menu is synonymous with their quality. It is super easy to order a platter, one of four choices (Chicken, Pork, Ribs, Brisket) which includes 2 sides. The prices are exceptionally reasonable in comparison to other BBQ places Ive been (between 12-16$/platter). My daughter (5 y/o) went bonkers for the Brisket sliders and tater tots. The quality and taste of the food is outstanding. I ordered Brisket with Mac n cheese and collard greens. I was blown away. The portion sizes are more than generous. This place is SPOT on, and coming from a family of restaurant owners, Im super particular. You will not be disappointed here. Grab the window seat! Suggestions for the future; blow out your craft beer selection! Theres a huge market for it and the same people who are BBQ hounds, are typically beer snobs from my experience! Best of luck guys, and keep up the great work!

Though Im a lover of all BBQ, my brisket in the nachos was a little dry, this could have been a fluke. Itd be nice if it was a bit fatty and juicy OR most and shredded to make the nachos have a bit in every bite. Mac and Cheese was incredible, as were the collard greens. The beer selection was alright, sangria tasted great, but the ice chips ended up watering it down by the end. The brisket sandwich had a little too much coleslaw in it, but the brisket and ribs combo was a nice dry rub smokey selection. With a little BBQ sauce added, the brisket was perfect and the pickled onions was a nice touch too. The ribs fell right off the bone. What I would love to see them do: Pickle your own stuff, green tomatoes, cukes, youve already got the onions. I would like an option between dried or sauced meat. Get some local or micro beers in there. New Castle is great, but both Brooklyn lager and Great South Bay ales are delicious. There are things I prefer from a BBQ place, and not everyone will do it. Its your classic smoke house BBQ, and I take it for what it is. I will be back for sure, cant wait to see what updates theyll make to their menu.

My husband enjoyed his brisket sandwich however, the burger was without a doubt one of the worst Ive ever had. After just a few bites I couldnt eat anymore. First, I asked for it to be cooked "medium" and it came out overcooked and petrified. Secondly, and probably its worst offense, it didnt resemble, taste like, or have the texture of a freshly made burger. The quality was no better than a pre-made, commercially produced frozen burger patty that youd buy at BJs. Very disappointing, especially for the price. Also, for what is basically "fast casual" the food in my opinion was overpriced. $13-14 for a brisket sandwich (which wasnt even a huge portion) and NO sides is a lot of money. At least throw in some fries or potato salad alongside it. Overall, while the atmosphere was nice and it was definitely kid friendly I didnt really enjoy my food. For that reason, Im not so sure its a place Id revisit, especially with so many other excellent places to eat down port.

DELICIOUS! My fiancé and I just ate there and we both had an amazing experience. I had the pork shoulder with corn bread and hush puppies and he got the special which was a triple decker brisket melt with fries and he ordered a side of mac and cheese. Everything was cooked perfectly and the atmosphere inside the place was awesome. Everything was really fairly price and their menu was simple and to the point. Right when you walk in you can smell the smoker (and honestly when you leave you might smell a bit like BBQ-which I love anyway). We almost didnt go because of the negative review, however , I am so glad we didnt listen to that! The food is great-also, the place was packed and judging by the clean trays everywhere around us all those people thought so as well! We cant wait to bring our friends and go back! Well done!

Well I went to the place for the first time. Very excited about it. We ordered to go. When we opened up the food we had raw bacon all over the fatso sandwich. I mean RAW! They completely messed up our order. The food has no taste. The ribs were horrible and the pulled pork was really bad. I called them to let them know they are giving out raw meat which is pretty serious! The owner was so rude on the phone pretty much said that his bacon was cooked twice which clearly it was not!! I did take a picture of how raw it was!! He told me to not come back. Well thats really nice to say considering you just opened and gave us raw food and we are locals! Will never go back!!! Even if he didnt say that. The food is terrible. We wouldnt go back if you paid us!!! Pretty sad! Was very excited about the place!!

Good but could be better. Chicken was great. Some of the brisket was awesome...but some of it sucked. My issue is that whom ever put it on the plate... knowingly put completely dried out pieces with pieces that were fantastic. At this level of BBQ place...pieces of dried out brisket are unacceptable. Sure the case could be made that I should have brought it to their attention but this is not some chain restaurant that gets away with average. Dont get me wrong, I will definitely give them another try. They just need to iron out the kinks...could end up being a great BBQ joint. Not overly expensive but certainly not cheap so at this level everything should be spot on. Come on Smoke Shop Blues...I am in PJ every weekend and I have to eat somewhere...everything else was solid...just step it up a bit.

Really was hoping to like this place as it is convenient to home and has a nice atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food itself is just so incredibly bland and overpriced that I wont be coming back. The ribs and brisket, while tender and juicy, just had no flavor. No good smoke taste, no dry rub flavor, nothing. It was just so plain and boring to eat. Even after pouring their lackluster BBQ sauce all over them to try and get some taste on them. The sides were also very bland... Everything needed salt. Hush puppies had barely any taste, Mac and cheese was congealed and tasteless. Beer selection was limited to 5 beers, all big national breweries. You would think with a local brewery literally 200 yards away they would offer local beers. $45 for 2 people for lunch and no flavor. Pass.

Fantastic BBQ. They have their seasonings, temp control and processes down cold. The childrens/family area was wonderful, and the staff were happy to talk shop with an amateur like myself. Prices are a little high, but they do the only real BBQ in the area so they get a pass on that. The sauces werent all that interesting, though. The Carolina red was only vaguely spiced, and the sweet sauce was little more than ketchup with extra sugar. The extra hot sauce was more exciting, but wasnt a barbecue sauce so much as a hot sauce. Meat this good deserves better sauce. Thats my only complaint, but it was enough to cost them a star.
