Creation can be initiated by diverse sources: Ideas, individuals, locations or a vague, visceral instinct or presence demanding progression. [Author’s Pause: The latter is not a reference to any form of apparition or Linda Blair-ish, soul-possessing activity. It is the inner self. Buddhist stuff.] For Eric Rifkin, owner and chef of Bobbique, the catalyst for his Patchogue-based presentation of barbecue, beer and blues was Memphis, Tennessee. “My cousin lived in Memphis, so I would visit him and just love to walk on Beale Street,” says Rifkin, who opened Bobbique in 2006. “Every place had culture with great food, quality beer and live music. I wanted to create something similar in Patchogue.” Rifkin, who developed his culinary interest as an adolescent caddy at The Concord Resort & Golf Club in Monticello (“I was tossed in the kitchen on a rainy day,” he laughs), aspires to provide Long Island with a slow-smoked, Memphis-legitimate menu of authentic pit barbecue. This includes brisket, ribs and hand-pulled pork and chicken dry-rubbed using Bobbique’s house-made seasoning, and wood-smoked until a pinkish-hued ring (indicates proper preparation of smoked meats) appears beneath the surface. This does not include attempts at imitation. “The best thing is when customers ask me for a second Wet-Nap because of our sauce, which is made in-house,” says Rifkin, whose resume includes stints at NYC’s An American Place, City Crab and Seafood Company, Halcyon and Lobster Club. “I would feel like a sellout serving nachos and quesadillas. You won’t find that stuff here.” “Here,” according to Rifkin, encompasses more than his menu. During location searches for Bobbique (named after his daughter Bobbi), Patchogue and its quality-first ethos was an instant attraction. “Patchogue has a rich soul,” he says. “The town has Blue Point Brewing Company and a flourishing music and art scene. When I found a building with a stage, I knew it was a perfect fit.” It is quite acceptable to lick one’s fingers following the consumption of culture.

My wife and I went there for a nice casual night. I have been there before for a beer and fries but never tried the food. We were in search of a real BBQ experience and did not get it. They advertise that it is wood smoked. I do not believe there is one wood smoker in the entire building. They order the meats from a location and then placed into a freezer hence if they were smoked there I would not have to wait 20 minutes to get my ribs. Which were also undercook. The ribs were still bleeding. Should only take 3-5 minutes. The cornbread is homemade from the instant mix they use. The potato salad may be homemade but made rather cheaply. The wings are horrible so I advise to stay away from. I attend many restaurants on Long Island so maybe try Smokey Bones for a better experience. The beer and drink selection is phenominal. They have I believe over 100 different beers on tap and bottle. I do not believe I will visit this establishment again but if I do I would stick to the Pulled Pork and Brisket. They are the only two foods meals that I would advertise.

Ok Soni drove a long ways to check this place out ....the beer list is amazing. ..kinda pricey but they have 750mls. ...we got the combo plate ...pulled pork , brisket, ribs, shrimp, smoked sausage. ...the ribs were the best thing on the plate ...also they collard greens are phenomenal I think they put like sugar and ginger and cinnamon in them ...the mac and cheese was definitely lacking though tasted like it came out of a box....pulled pork was banging though...highly recommended. ..for dessert I got Lincoln logs like deep fried French toast tossed in cinnamon sugar like a churro. ..and I took home the steamed BBQ muscles. ..so bad ass

The food is excellent depending on what you order (avoid the brisket) and the (overpriced) beer menu is expansive. The crowd is a cross slice of Long Islands South Shore, ranging from Carhart sporting blue collar mericans to the hipster 20 somethings slumming it in search of authenticity. The biggest problem with the place is the live music that assaults you when youre dining there. For a room of about 200 square feet, you dont need to mic the drum kit, we can hear it fine 10 feet away. Be prepared to have a screaming match during dinner, and not because youre mad.

Read the reviews a while back and made a visit on 7-5-2014. Ordered St. Louis Ribs, Chopped brisket, side of potato salad and, mac &cheese. Lets start with the ribs. Meat was way over done on one side and the other was under done 1/3 was inedible due to being the victim of a nuclear disaster. the chopped "brisket" was dog food. the potato salad was a mayonnaise swimming pool, completely disgusting. and the mac&cheese was out the box Kraft BULLSHIT. on the other hand the Burger the wife ordered looked pretty good. +1 star.

One of my top 3 places to eat! We come here once or twice a month and we absolutely LOVE the food and wide selection of craft beers! Once in a while, well try a new BBQ place and we always wind up saying "this is okay, but we should have just gone to Bobbique!" My favorite thing to order is the Brisket Sandwich with a side of mac & cheese with french fries. I have also ordered the kielbasa, ribs and pork and they were all delicious! Was just here again this past Saturday night and I enjoyed some leftovers the next day.

Wonderful restaurant, our waitress Julia was attentive and very pleasant. We were seated immediately and our drink orders were taken. I would suggest the chicken wings which came 2 ways, bbq n hot. Ribs were tender n juicy I ordered both, quite good. They were slightly burnt just like they came off the grill. Tasty sauce on both, collard greens and mack n cheese were good as well as chocolate cake for dessert. We will be back!

Always good to find barbecue in the North! Brisket was a little fatty, but still good. Pulled pork was tasty, but it had a red sauce already mixed in. Maybe a seasoned pulles pork with the sauces separate would have been better, and definitely need an Eastern North Carolina vinegar sauce! Beer selection here is very nice; plethora of choices both in bottle and on tap. Definitely recommended if you are having a meat craving.

Nice looking restaurant. The place was clean, and the service was great. The food was okay at best. I had the ribs which were pretty bad-fatty garbage, and the pulled pork which was good. Mac and cheese was okay and fries were decent. The beer selection was excellent and prices were average. They need to step up their game with the food if they want to be taken as a serious BBQ joint.

Great local BBQ! Large beer selection and tasty cocktails. Order the wings, but know that the wings are a QUARTER WING section, so they are HUGE! The order of 5 is a good size for 2 people. The chicken and waffles is excellent, and the burgers are nice and juicy. Highly recommend, especially for dinner during the week when the crowds arent as large.

food ok, beer list is impressive, Whatever food remaining on our plates we asked the waitress to back up, but when we got home the only thing packed were the entrees. The 2 sides that come along with the meal werent included in to go bag. Very disappointed. I called management to complain only to be empty handed again.
