Went there for dinner the other night, worst meal I have ever paid for, except for the soup. Soup was Yankee bean and excellent. It got my hopes up, but they were soon dashed. Salad was OK but overly drenched in dressing. and small. I ordered the BBQ chicken with mashed potatoes and broccoli. the chicken was overcooked and dry. All they did was pour BBQ sauce over the cooked chicken and called it Barbequed chicken, cheaters. The mashed pot came on a separate plate. Looked like a flat pool of grits. No attempt to fluff them up or put gravy on. The broccoli was the worst part of the meal. It was dark green and cold when it arrived. I put butter on it but it wouldnt melt, which always makes me mad. I asked the waiter if they had a microwave, and could they heat it up. Yes, and when it came back I realized why it was cold. It was barely cooked. I couldnt even cut the stalks. At the end the waiter asked if I wanted my mostly untouched meal wrapped to go. I said no, I didnt like it at all. Then he argued with me about the broccoli. told me 80% of their customers like undercooked broccoli and made it sound like I want my veg overcooked. I might go back for the Yankee bean soup, but probably not. I think I spent $20 on that wretched meal.

I had a total of three cups of coffee. Two were caffeinated and the third cup of coffee I informed the waiter that I wanted decaffeinated coffee because the caffeine was too strong. I had to inform two different waiters that I wanted decaffeinated coffee and after a delay one of the waiters hands reached to my coffee cup handle and pulled my coffee up and off the saucer and away to be filled I presume after making the statement that it was supposed to be left on top of the saucer and be poured into by the pot. I did not like that the waiter took the cup to a unidentified location for it to be filled and question that it could have been toilet water because of my obnoxiously loud music playing from my phone. My Android phone. The brand with the green item you would refer to as unidentifiable. Based on the taxonomy chart it is not identifiable, the item. The cafè and diner as one was great for what it was but I could not help but notice the seating area in front of me was stained and a blue hue. They must have to get that color out.

I might have walked past by this so many times but never tried it. Some weeks an unforseen rains forced me to stop and take shelter here while walking towards Washington Square Park. The place is not huge but has ample seating for the customers. The service was not very prompt though we were seated immdeiately as we came in, the server arrived took some time to come to our table to take our order. I ordered the Grilled cheese with turkey and my friend the hot pastrami. My sandwich was decent but nothing extraordinory about it. My friend meal was a complete mess and was very bland. If one is looking for a place which is open 24 hours the this place serves the purpose but dont expect much when it comes to taste. FYI- This place is cash only , yikes!

I found myself eating a lone breakfast at the Waverly whilst in NYC on vacation and it was everything that I had wanted in an American diner experience. Leather lined booths, constant refills of coffee, short-stack pancakes with bacon and syrup, bizarre conversation from the two old guys in the next booth... Well perhaps not the last one. Now that I live in NY, I have been to several other diners for breakfast but none of them have been as satisfying as the hour I spent in the Waverly. I suppose I owe it to myself to go back and make sure it wasnt just a holiday romance...

This is supposed to be a cheap hole in the wall but the food turned out to be mediocre - which would have been all right if it was cheap, but it was not. One of my party had special dietary needs which was not adhered to. Food was sent back and upon getting it again, it would seem that the requirements were ignored. The look of disgust on the servers face was, to me, a sign of the contempt they feel for their customers. No tip for them! Dont recommend coming back, there are plenty of other cheap, tasty places to eat in New York City.

Sadly one of my favorite standby places in Manhattan is slipping fast. The prices have gone through the roof and the once lively wait staff seem a bit unmotivated and going through the motions. The music always seems to be a radio station not tuned in well. (This happens often) which is really unpleasant but the owner has the tuner locked away from his employees so they cant fix it. He also owns the building so the crazy high-prices arent a factor of rent. After 3 really mediocre experiences Im on the hint for a good diner.

The Waverly Restaurant was packed, so we took it to be a sign that they served really great diner fare. Alas. Bacon was forgotten on a breakfast sandwich, which was then unceremoniously ripped open and returned with torn bread and butchered insides. Fries are overly salted and meager for their price tag. Food is forgettable. Service is very hasty to greet you and take your order, though theyre nowhere to be found when you want your check. As far as diners go, better food and prices can be found elsewhere.

Overpriced diner masquerading as a restaurant. It does take credit cards (ten dollar minimum). Classic diner menu items cost several bucks more here than at other similar establishments in the neighborhood. For example, your nine dollar tuna sandwich will cost one dollar and some change more if you want a slice of cheese and six plus bucks more if you want a side of fries. That said, some dishes are better quality, like the sausage. Breakfast dishes are charmingly served in a pan.

One of the worst places that Ive ever entered in NYC! It smelled so bad inside.. Other people also were complaining about the smell. They brought my food after 35 minutes when I said: Im gonna leave if you are not bringing my order! I ordered chicken soup and mac and cheese..the quality of soup was so low .. Mac and cheese tasted awful that I left half portion .. They charged me $20.. I dont recommend this place at all!

The diner was mostly empty. My date and I took seats at a booth. We didnt think it would be an issue since the place was so quiet, but we got moved to a smaller table anyway by our waiter. He made a rude comment about my dates choice of meal. I accidentally forgot a book there and when I called the next morning to see if they had it, the staff was very uncooperative.
