Place is great for food, atmosphere (waitress are friendly), good homely feel to place. The portions are great especially for price, coffee is good. Ive been eating here for some time now and the only problem I have is that one of the cooks seems to be the owners son and he does not have an ounce of business ethic in him. He is rude, loud and obnoxious. He is constantly barking and yelling at the poor waitress for things that cant be helped (ex. he was yelling at a waitress to take an order that was on the counter for literally a minute but the poor waitress was in the middle of taking an order from 6 customers who just sat down in the establishment. He then got upset and took the order himself cursing the entire way and proceeded to whine to his mother {owner} about the situation. Shortly after i saw the waitress getting reprimanded all because she was taking an order when the cooked order was done) but yea if you live in the scotia/schenectady area and like good diner food you should stop in. Just ignore the RUDE cook if he happens to be working

Breakfast: pretty good. Id give it 4/5 stars. They had a pretty good selection of the breakfast basics. I had the "Cindy" and it had decent pancakes but the syrup with in prepackaged singles. The bacon was good and they didnt have to much extra grease on them. The eggs were cooked to order and the potatoes were awesome. The coffee was decent as well, not burnt tasting which is a huge plus. The waitress was excellent and gave plenty of drink refills. Lunch: not that great for lunch, may 2/5 stars. It seemed like mostly frozen food. My girlfriends food was almost inedible as well. The waitress was also really terrible. Took her 15 before she stopped by to get our drink order and then ran off before we could give our food order. The food took a long time and was not fresh by the time we got it either. I would suggest going for breakfast because its good and pretty cheap. Stay away from lunch unless you dont mind going a few times to see if they have something that is good. Pretty large difference between the service depending on how busy it is.

Mrs. Jenner have been here for breakfast and late lunch / early dinner. Both times were very good experiences. Where other diners give a choice of bacon, ham or sausage here all three came with the French toast. Here the London broil sandwich came truly crunchy crisp steak fries and a mushroom gravy chock full of mushrooms. Mrs. Jenners shrimp marsala had nice fat shrimp with pasta and a marsala sauce jardiniere. Prices for two, with tea or coffee and a 20% tip (amply justified by good service) ran $24 for breakfast, $28 for the early dinner. And its a family business. An its a diner in ways so many others try to be without succeeding.

i will need to forget about todays experience before i can come back. i came in sat at the counter and woman behind the counter said good morning. but then it took for ever for her t remember i was there. i was about to get up and walk out when she asked me if i wanted a cup of coffee. (i should hafe left then) she brought me watery coffee and took my order, since id already had plenty of time with the menu. another costumer came in and sat down. he had his coffee and breakfast in front of him in three minutes.mine came after. cold. i ate the eggs and left the rest. im sorry to say, i think my visit today was a waist of ten dollars.

Make sure to wear your rain poncho!! After our waitress spilled my coffee down the front of me and left us with a mess to clean up ourselves, she wasnt even inclined to bring me a new cup of joe. So there I am, sitting in a sticky bench, sipping the final imaginary dregs of my long forgotten coffee, about to finish my order and I ask if I can substitute a small side salad instead of fries. The only response I get: "no." Next stop after that meal is rite aid for some ipecac to relieve myself of the utter disgust with my dinner. All that remains is the memory... Thank you Scotia Diner.

My husband and I had breakfast at Scotia Diner this weekend. They recently moved to a new and better location down the street. The place is beautiful!!! The decor of the diner is 1950s theme. The food was excellent and plentiful. Best of all, the price was right. We really enjoyed our meals and the waitress Nicole was gracious. We got to speak with the owner Anita and she shared wonderful stories of Scotia Diner. Thank you Anita and family for staying in Scotia, New York.

Eating breakfast here was a pleasant surprise. The french toast was amazing along with the sausage and eggs. service was nice and fast, and the place had a welcome feel to it. The picture on the cover of the menu says something like "Remembering the 50s" but the decor is definitely remembering the 70s. While it looks a bit worse for the wear, the food is good, and thats what counts. REMEMBER- They dont accept credit cards.

Today, the rules at Scotia Diner has been changed: Now, you cannot have many free cups of coffee that you want, like you used to do at Scotia diner years ago. Since they put out new menus back in March, you will now have a limit of two free cups of coffee, that is it. If you want more then that, you have to pay for it, e.g. $1.59 a cup. The same thing goes for other drinks that they do have (e.g., juice, tea, milk, etc.)

Food was ok, but really lazily prepared. My chocolate chip pancakes were pancakes with chocolate chip on top. My hash browns with pepper and onions were already cooked potatoes with raw peppers and onions tossed in. Also for the quality of food i think it was a little bit more expensive then it was worth. I would go down the street to another place if you had the chance.

Everything on my plate was WET Not allowed to order portions we desired Over medium eggs had runny whites Advertised cinnamon buns were really slabs of vaguely raisin toast Didnt recieve my toast or whipped cream Terse waitstaff With better breakfast options like Olivers, Glenville Queen, and Manhattan Bagel around, theres no reason to ever return.

The foods terrible, the staff is always super slow and clumsy. We got a whole cup of water spilt and splashed on us not once but twice. If only the owner knew where to find herself a roadrunner not the slow ass turtles and a new cook and this place might not be so terrible. Dont even get me started on the decor and cleanliness of it ick

Very unprofessional staff (everyone was complaining about each other). We ate breakfast and it tasted like frozen pancakes and frozen french toast. The bathrooms were very dirty and looked like they havent been cleaned in days. May go back and give this place another chance but probably not any time soon.

Food is pretty good. Service is slow and the older woman cashier is kinda rude. Mostly go there because its so cheap. And BTW, the review from "Frankie G" is by one of the owners. If you go to their website the review is posted and its labeled "Frank G (You)." Old people and technology...lol.
