The worst and most disappointing experience ever!! And when I say ever I mean ever as I am known to visit and try different restaurants all over. One, this place claims to be authentic with a cuban based name from a known ice cream parlor in Cuba and they are no where near authentic. Nothing in their menu is authentic not even to the simplest thing an empanada. Me being from Cuban roots and coming from Cuba central, "Miami"! Growing up Cuban i believe i can say this place is nothing near Cuban. I had an empanada that was on but nothing compared to an authentic Cuban empanada! Ordered a chicken sandwich again disappointed! Nothing to do with Cuban. They did guacamole and other ingredients what!!! Where in Cuba or anywhere authentic do they do this!! Man and then I ordered a coffee! Wow! where do these people get that they are authentic! Not even an Ironbeer which is one of the most known Cuban sodas! Smh! Service was horrible I walked in alone! One person and it took 20 minutes for them to take my order and mind you the place was empty! If you are out to look for authentic Cuban food please do yourselves a favor and "DO NOT I MEAN DO NOT" go here.. you are better off crossing the river and going into union city where they have real authentic Cuban homestyle restaurants! Never again!!

This place has by far the most racist, disrespectful and unfriendly staff. About 5 of us went out to eat here on Sunday evening around 9PM. We werent greeted when we came in and after sitting down we began to chat at a normal volume. A member of the staff came over to our table and told us to "Quiet down" and that we were "talking too loud". Keep in mind there was a table of about 5 white people around the same age as us (23-30 y/o) having a conversation at the same volume and no-one went over to ask them to quiet down. We decided to stay even after that. A member of the staff( short Hispanic man with black button shirt) came over to our table AGAIN, and told us that customers were complaining and that we needed to quiet down. At this point my patience had expired. I got up to discuss the way we were being treated with him and asked to speak to a manager. He said there is no manager here with a very surly and nasty tone. We proceed to converse about the matter at hand to which he tells me dont touch him and that we can leave. Of course, we left. Not only were we racially profiled and singled out. We also were met with extreme disrespect from staff. DO NOT SUPPORT THIS BUSINESS

Coppelia is a real nice surprise in the middle of Chelsea. Its a diner, its affordable, and its Cuban! The place is bustling as if it were a hot bar or club but really the people come here to eat. Its solid food. I mean that literally and metaphorically. I had the arepas and the arepas were heavy, dense, and hard almost like hockey pucks. Dont let the small size fool you. You will be satisfied and full. The yucca fries are addicting. They are cut thick like steak fries. One can only eat so much so share all the food at Coppelia. We tried the burger which was insanely huge. My favorite dish was the Mac & Chicharron. If you are a fan of mac and cheese, you will be blown away by this dish. Its got chunks of pork belly and is topped with chicharron (pork rinds). Its got great crunch and a smooth silky finish. Speaking of finishes, save room for the dessert. I was jealous of every table around me. Everything looked good and the dessert menu is by Pichet Ong. If you call yourself a foodie, then you know what Im talking about. Snobbery aside, Coppelia is really casual and looks good for every meal of the day. Ive already recommended the Benedictos to my friend for brunch.

Cuban a Cuban could eat. Im from Miami and live in new york city. The city has everything to offer. Except good cuban food. Ive had some good stuff in queens but thats it. Nothing in the city until recently. Stumbled onto this 24 hour gem after a late night at work in Chelsea. Decided to give it a try. The decor made me think I was on 136th and kendall in Miami right away. Spot on. Less about appearances more about food. Ive been 3 times now. Cant miss the empanadas. The chicken are good but the sweet corn and cheese are great! Had the ribs, awesome, had the arroz con pollo, awesome, had the cuban sandwich awesome. And then there is dessert. The dessert arent fair. It makes me upset that I dont have room for two. The olive oil cake I forget the name is one of the most delicious things Ive ever eaten. Ive gotten it each time. The service was great, the atmosphere was authentic, and the food was better. They even offer a four square bonus.

A former diner turned into a Latin diner! Its 24/7 in the heart of Chelsea! If youre on 14th and 7th you have stop in. A lively vibe pulsating to old school salsa puts a smile on your face, tr boogie in your waist! So lets get to the food! Highly recommended to start- the empanadas, the quesadilla, and the flautas! But other items look good as well. Then you have the main courses or sandwiches, I recommend the sandwiches and burgers, although the arroz con pollo is highly encouraged! Try a few different courses, find your favorite. If its late you cant go wrong with the breakfast, which is served all day and all night and dont fogey the forget the salads and sides. One of the few places Ive know that serve quinoa! Healthy and yummy! And the happy hour is from 4-7, it should start from 6-9 but thats ok the Irish bar next door will fulfill your libation desires. The Socialist recommends this place, put it on your list!

I mustve passed this place 3 times a week for over a year and never knew this gem existed. Theres been unending construction going on with some obstructions to the frontage. Tonight I happened to do a quick search on the map before going down the abyss of the subway. Im glad I did and I was literally steps away from a Latin Fusion taste explosion. Oxtail Empanadas!!!! WHAT!?! Amazing flavors. The salmon was perfectly seasoned and topped with a great mango guajillo salsa. The mood is festive inside and everyone looked happy to be there. Juan-Carlos "JC" is a top notched server/bartender/spokesman for Coppelia and all of there sister restaurants. Ive added this gem to my favorites and have a few other places to visit now. This brand of good eats is what I go out for. The service is what will keep me coming back.

friendly, kind, informed service when youre dining in the restaurant. Sadly - repeated "fails" on delivery and to-go orders that are ill-managed by whomever is assigned as the MOD to take your call regarding problems with such orders - should you be motivated enough to try to work with the restaurant directly to try to remedy the order error or dis-satisfaction, rather than just write a bad review or go elsewhere for late-night dining. Sure there are PLENTY of other reliable options late night - I just really love sweet plantains...so I really WANT to work this out: "Oh, Coppelia, why must you make it so hard for me to keep loving you?????"
