This restaurant looks very nice on the outside, and I was even a little worried that my dress and pumps were not going to be dressy enough for this restaurant, until I got inside and saw the people who were there. It was hard to miss the PACKED front enterence of people just floating around waiting for a table. My boyfriend and I spotted an area that was just regular waitor service (no one cooking on your table for you), so we asked to sit down there. The host was very odd and he led us to a a bare table (bare as in no silverwear or plates, just a table), and then left without giving us menus or anything. Our waitress came over to the table a total of maybe 3 times (at the end of the meal we had to hunt down some other waitress and ask her for our check). We were seated near the door which was terrible thanks to the endless amount of people coming in and out and the extremely cold air that came in with them. The best part about this experience had to be however, the group of trashy bikers who first polluted the bar and then polluted one of the hibachi tables. They were loud, disgusting to look at, and obnoxious. Much of the people there were trashy long islanders in wifebeaters and dirty tshirts. Do not be fooled by the outside decor of this restaurant, it sucks, and the food sucks anyway.

Hibachi Very bad quality of meat, rice, seafood. Rice: white rice is like rock. They probably make it hard enough for the fried rice with lots of liquid mix to prevent sticking. Chicken: thin slice and harden after cook. Salmon: not fresh to begin with. Smell bad first bite. The chef played with his "instruments" at the beginning, and way to noisy and unpleasant. Onion soup is awful. The waitress is very unprofessional, open her hand and ask you to bring her used bowls. Overall experience: price is fine, but service is awful. Tables are oily and sticky, serving slowly. Foods are not acceptable.

One of the better hibachi places and it has been around forever. The wait can be long - especially on weekends. Plan on waiting (and having a few of the powerhouse "exotic" cocktails!). Standard hibachi side-show - if youve seen it once, youve seen it all. Can be interesting if you get some cool people at your table. The food is usually very good and fresh. The trick to beating the long wait is to skip the hibachi thing and grab the regular table service seating - you can still order the hibachi stuff without the show and it arrives pretty quick.

personally i luv the food especially the fried pork rice and the steak and shrimp and chicken and vegetables are great. But the place is expensive. The sushi we dont really get cause it tastes dry and not very tasty at all although its fresh cooked, it still dosnt taste the same as you would get at a nice sushi bar or restaurant. Hibachi is great but mostly people go their for parties like birthdays. The part that is the worst is that it takes about a half an hour to wait for ur chef. I say skip it.

Have been coming here for more years than I can remember and always had a good experience. Recently, however, place seems to have gone downhill. Portions are way smaller despite the fact that prices have gone up! Service is less than stellar, with the waitresses having a bad attitude. Hibachi is also hit it miss....depends on what chef you get to cook the food. Not consistent by any means. Planning on going back to Benihana.

The service here is excellent. All the staff were very friendly. However, not the best vegetable tempura Ive had. The vegetables did not seem fresh and was a weird color. Also pretty small portion for the price. The server however got everything right and my boyfriend and I were a bit specific so I give them stars for that. He was fast as well. Comfortable ambience. Great for families. They have a small bar as well.

Always like this place, but went last week. They ran out of Sapporo cans - ok. So they offered us Sapporo tap. That worked just fine. They came back after about 5 mins and informed us they are out. It was 6:30pm - a restaurant should not run out of anything yet. Especially a staple beer of theirs. That added on top of the fish not looking fresh, we walked out. Hopefully they shape up a bit there.

Unfortunately the food I was eating was very bland from the popcorn shrimp appetizers to the salmon grilled entree. Other people in my party experienced the same thing with their dishes along side me. The waiters were pretty fast in delivering our food to the table downstairs along with the drinks. The fried ice cream dessert everyone thought was good but not the best theyve ever had.

I have been there many times and have not had any issues. Most of the time the food is good. The sushi is great. However, I went this past Mothers Day and was shocked that they raised the prices by a minimum of 25% for the day. Also the "show" that the hibachi chef put on was nonexistent. He did nothing but cook the food. I will not go back here again because of the price gouging.

One of my favorite places to eat with my family. Sushi is delicious the food is great (with variety for the pickiest eaters in the family) and the restaurant is clean and well kept. The staff is always attentive and very polite (helpful when in doubt about your menu choices). The chefs put on great presentation especially for kids.

I really like this place. Sometimes the chef isnt very animated and I get that, youve been doing the same thing for the 3 years Ive been going there... The food is very good. I like that its not salty as many other hibachi places around. The sushi is also really good. The service is always solid. It is a little expensive though.

Ate at Shiro while visiting Long Island. Friendly staff greeted us and made us feel comfortable. The preparation of the food was a show! The chef determined how much of a show it was. Flaming onion volcanos seemed like a standard for Shiro. I had chicken but liked my wifes steak better. I will eat here again if in the area.

Shiro of Japan is the best Hibachi place in NY. I go to the one in Westbury which is great. The Shrimp dishes and Fried Rice are amazing. I like the fact they give you the opinion of Bean Sprouts or noodles. Most Hibachi places dont have the Bean Sprouts like Benihana I like the Bean Sprouts better then the noodles.

Great staff great food great location I cant say enough about this place. My first time in Long Island visiting family and this is their favorite restaurant. I have had Hibachi many times here in Florida but just the atmosphere employees and made it so much better.

First time eating at this place and decided to come here for my birthday. I must say I was really impressed. Food was amazing, service was outstanding, and I feel they are very attentive to your needs. Much better than Benihana. Highly recommend this place.

Shiro has "ok" sushi. The place seems to be more of a hibachi house, which is fine. Experience with service was also just "ok". Middle of the road place I would not go back to if it werent for the extra miles I had to earn through a dining rewards program.
