The Hatch is Gouging. Think twice about visiting the Hatch Restaurant on the Buffalo Waterfront for ice cream. On September 1, 2015 I learned that the ice cream is still superb TASTING (Meyers), after coming here during the summer season for 30 years. The PROBLEM is they now offer only a small and large cone, and if you select the large size in a dish, as I did, you will receive a scoop and a half, AFTER having paid nearly five dollars! When I received it, the tiny plastic cup was filled less than half way. When I questioned the short snippy dark haired waitress regarding the size, she averted my glaze and snapped, "next" customer, thus dismissing me as customer and person. No more ice cream at the Hatch for me! I will take my five dollars and buy a half gallon of superb ice cream at any grocery store in town. I returned to the counter after finishing the dish in 3 or 4 minutes and asked to see the manager named Chris, who was very pleasant, and said he would talk to the staff as the dish "should have been filled." P.S. The view from the Hatch remains a treasure, even all year round. Skip any disappoint at the Hatch Restaurant. Or at least ask to see the product before forking over your five dollars.

2 years ago, the food quality and service was alright. Ive been here twice in the last 2 weeks, only to request a refund. 1st refund: After waiting 40 mins for a burger, found out they forgot about my order. I asked about the status since several customers after me received their order. They offered to make it at that point, but I declined because I did not have any more time to wait. 2nd refund was last night. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich with no tomato. Instead, they made a grilled cheese with tomatoes. I requested a refund. They would only issue a partial refund for the order that I never touched or accepted and was advised me to speak to a manager the following day. This was not acceptable especially since I looked at the food before accepting it, with a cashier right there.

we were with our grandson, and they completely forgot his part of the order. Several people were working at the counter doing nothing, and yet we had to wait in a line while only one of the workers bothered to work and take orders. The others were chatting with each other. When my husband said he was not happy that we couldnt eat together, the response was "have a nice day". ???? He then said cancel the whole order. Instead of cancelling it, they recharged our debit card for the whole order. So we payed twice for something we never got. The old hatch had a lmited menu, but better food and service. We are still trying to get our money ($70) back.

Last week my wife and I went to the hatch after the movies. We arrived at 9pm placed our order of hotdog, beef on wreck and fries. 30 minutes later the cashier hands me the hot dog. 45 minutes later no other food. One person was cooking and doing one item at a time from a number of orders. 5 other employees were hanging around mostly just talking. The restaurant was not clean, the music outside was unbearably loud with inappropriate lyrics for the small children present. We walked out after the cook dropped his grill scraper on the ground. The walk was breathtaking. We need a better food restaurant at the marina.

The worst nastiest place Ive ever walked into. We order for 3 people only two got their food after 30mins only to tell us they dont tuna for the other order. No apologies was given, we had to asked for our money back!!! The hot dog and onion rings were burnt. They have clueless young people running this whole in a whole. Right in front of us 4 other customers demanded for their money back. Their little bathroom was wide open with tissues all over the place. Come here get a drink at the bar and enjoy the view, but do not eat from here

Sure the view is phenomenal but I have rarely had such poor service. The cashier was oblivious to customers and skipped people in line. Food was bland, granted I had a special and not a staple from the menu. I remember this place years ago when the food options were fewer and it was better. Perhaps they should be less ambitious and stick to basics like customer service.

Was approached by a photographer while eating at Hatch , named Thomas. Thomas took my picture and said he would print it out for $20.I handed him $100 bill , and he never returned with my photo or my change. Blonde bartender said he doesnt work here but knows the owner and allows him to do it.I feel this is wrong and illegal. SO BEWARE.

$22.84 for 1 hamburger, 1 foot long 1 small side of fries and two pops. The prices have doubled over the last year and the quality of the food has dropped. My burger was way over-cooked and the hot dog was badly charred. Ever since "William Ks" has opened the Hatch just isnt the Hatch that we remember. Will not go back.

This place is a great place to sit by the lake without paying lots of money for it. The food is cheap and cheerful, there are lunch specials and a nice range of burgers. We shared a burger and sweet potato fries between two of us and it was a nice, affordable lunch looking out on the lighthouse and the lake.

They used to only be grill food and ice cream, but they improved their patio and increased the creativity of their menu. Definitely a great spot to spend a few summer hours staring off at the lake as you eat some yummy junk. Nothing fancy or healthy, but definitely fun. Service is slow- be ready for that.

This is the spot to grab a quick bite to eat or a nice ice cream snack as you walk along the waterfront. It has tasty food and they have quick service so you dont wait too long. It has bathrooms as well so this stop is a must for food, drink, snacks or bathroom break along your walk on the waterfront!

Ordered 2 wraps and it was not super busy. 45 minutes (I checked my receipt so this is not an exaggeration) and no food. Brought it to their attention multiple times over this time, but nothing. They ended up making me wait back in line just to get a refund. I will not be back.

The website clearly says open until 10p.m. arrived around 8- 8:30 the girl behind the counter said sorry were closed. So the 4 of us left along with another couple behind us. If your hours changed you should update your website. Wont be coming back.

Awful service & overpriced food. The young lady that works the register needs to be fired. I used to frequent this place about once a week with work colleagues out of convenience, none of us will step foot in this place again.

The long and short is simple at the hatch. Its all about the location. Food is mediocre at best and very overpriced. There are a few beers on tap but nothing compared to other restaurants a short walk away.
