This is a divey hipster bar with both sunny outdoor seating and cave-like indoor seating in a garage. They serve standard guilt-inducing, greasy food. I came here for brunch, the menu for which our waitress read out to us since they didnt have it written down on the menu. My party ordered the lamb burger, the bacon and blue cheese burger, chorizo hash, and curly fries. They didnt have bread (yes, a restaurant with no bread), so I asked for hamburger buns instead to help me sop up the chorizo hash. The burgers, curly fries, and my hamburger buns came first. After a long wait for my chorizo hash and a couple of inquiries to the waitress, I found out my order was lost and that they wouldnt charge me for it. Not wanting to make my party wait any longer, I split the blue cheese burger, which was good. The burger half and curly fries actually filled me up quite a lot so by the time my actual meal came out on the skillet, I was full and asked for it to be boxed up. The food was decent but the service was unacceptable. A waitress should be cognizant about bringing out all entrees at the same time for their guests. Additionally, our waitress was hard to get a hold of. It was an effort to flag her down for anything including water refills or the top half of the hamburger bun that they had neglected to give my friend. The one good thing was that she proactively offered to not charge us for the missing meal and she seemed like a very nice person. I guess if youre coming here for drinks and greasy food, the experience would be better as being drunk would probably make you feel happier and not worry so much about your missing meal or waitress.

Dutch Boy Burger provides some pretty tasty burgers for the Prospect Heights area. Tied to the adjacent bar - Franklin Park - through an arcade walkthrough at the rear of the shop, the place feels cozy enough. The menu has several decent burgers (the Dutch Boy and Hangover are their best), some good hot dogs, and a few great odds and ends (the BLT and Mac n Cheese). They have a few drinks and boozy shakes but if you really want to drink, just go over to Franklin Park - you can order the same burgers in there too! The reason for 3 stars? 1) There burgers are $10 or more and do not come with fries (unless you order the special). This is a joke. Fries are basically nothing and if youre a burger place, you better be including fries with your burger unless youre charging $5-$6 for it. If there fries were incredible, I might give it a pass but they are your typical, run-of-the-mill fries. 2) I got food poisoning there one time. I can give you the 100% certainty that it was from DBB. Its all Id eaten that day and I could tell right away that it was not going well as I ate it. Ive gotten food poisoning twice in my life so no excuses there. Keep it clean, yall. 3) And this is a small one but, as a designer, I have to say something. They have a massive black and white photo of a diner in the main dining space. The image is so embarrassingly low-res that youd think they were going for a pixel art aesthetic or commentary on censorship. There are only two pieces of art in the place and this is one of them. And its been up the entire time theyve been open. Please, get it reprinted or just take it down. Its painful to look at.

We stopped in at 8:30 on a Thursday night. I waited probably 45 min. for a burger, and our drinks were only brought out after the food came out (and after we reminded our waitress to bring them). Meanwhile, the waitresss boyfriend who came in shortly after us was served immediately and most of her time was spent talking to and engaging in PDA with him. I understand that there werent many customers there that night and it was probably a little slower than normal - but we were basically ignored until the food came out. The food itself was pretty good - I had the hangover burger (which comes with a fried egg on it). My only complaint there is that I had ordered it with no pickle...And there wasnt one on the plate, but the bun had clearly been sitting in pickle juice. I didnt bother to send it back based on how long it took to get food in the first place. Overall: Good food, very reasonable prices, and a good location/environment, but the service was disappointing.

If youve got kids with allergies dont bother bringing them or going here. I went in fully expecting to chow down on a burger. My 6 year old is allergic to eggs and nuts and couldnt eat anything but 2 items on the menu. My entire entourage (about 5 people including me) ordered food and drinks already. So I went across the street and got a slice of pizza for my daughter so she doesnt watch us all eat and starve. I was quickly accosted by the manager about their policy not to bring in outside food. I explained the situation and she refused to even consider - ? Word to the wise, the customer is always right lady. Your burger wasnt all that great either it simply fell apart in the soggy bun. Too bad the atmosphere is pretty cool. Never coming back and telling everyone I know from sea to shining sea never to go either. Loads of other burger places. Bye!

I had heard good reviews of this place so I went to check it out. I looked online at their menu and saw they had a veggie burger/fry combo for $8.95. Perfect. When I ordered I got the veggie burger, fries, and a beer float. It took quite a while for the float and my meal to come out. One bite into the veggie burger and I knew it wasnt going to work for me. It fell apart too easily and didnt have any flavor to it. It was quite thin so not much "meat" to it. The fries were meh. No dipping sauces, no spice seasoning...literally a potato cut into fries. When my bill came at the end, that $8.95 combo I thought I was getting turned out to be $15! I probably misread the menu when I was looking online or something. Fine it happens were human. But at that rate, Ill go to Shake Shack. Every time.

Great Portobello Mushroom Burger. Dutch Boy has some of the best Burgers in Brooklyn, but recently Ive embraced eating more veggies and cutting back on my meat. Recently I walked by and caved for a Burger, but once inside decided to stick to my diet and ate their Portobello version. I was extremely surprised! Nice hardy Portobello slices on top of some green chiles with their mayo spread on the side. It was so delicious that I cant wait to go back for another bite. Be it the Portobello option or just a regular burger, this is the place to go. Good music and a friendly staff puts the icing on the cake for this classic burger joint.

The price is quite absurd, being 16 bucks for a cheeseburger and fries. If the price wasnt so bad, I could enjoy the burger more. Considering how close/attached it is to the neighborhood bar, I dont see the price going down anytime soon. And I cant blame them. Theyll get plenty of business. I just dont anticipate myself spending this much money for a burger in the future though. Adding cheese to a burger shouldnt cost $1.50 extra. And seasoned fries shouldnt just be a sprinkle of herbs on top. It should be mixed properly.
