My husband and I went here about a month ago, so this review is a bit delayed. We got a sitter and were really excited to come and check the place out, I was dying to see the rooftop. When we got there, the rooftop was closed due to weather. Ok, cant control that, so I got over it fast and we were brought into the dining room. There were about 3 tables occupied (it was a Wedesday night) and the gentleman (talked like a manager, was wearing a tshirt so I dont know) seating us gave us an option of 3 tables - a 2 seater by the window, a 2 seater across from the bar, and a 4 seater in the middle. I opted for the 2 seater across from the bar because I wanted to be near the action, lol. After we sat down we were brought menus - paper menus on giant clipboards. A passing waitress asked if wed like to move the table next to ours together to give us more room. Looking at the giant clipboards, I thought...sure we may need it. So I said sure, thanks! She very kindly put the tables together, and not 5 minutes later the guy who seated us came over and said "I know maybe you want more room and thats nice but later on when the crowd comes in we may have to separate it back into two". I told him thats fine, and if its a problem then just separate them now. He said no, leave it for now. I get that restaurants get busy. However, it was 7:30pm on a Wednesday night. Not to mention, I didnt ASK to have the tables put together. It was offered, and I accepted. If you dont want to do it, DONT OFFER. And perhaps that "big rush" of diners he was expecting never came (when we left the bar was hopping, but the dining room was all but empty) because he spent too much time worrying about who MIGHT come in to the restaurant, and not enough time worrying about the people ALREADY IN the restaurant. The food was ok - a bit overpriced and there were things on the menu we already knew we didnt care for from having ordered the takeout. There must be another bar past the dining room because we kept having people walking past our table to go around the corner from the dining room. This place likes to say its like dining in Manhattan, but as someone who dines in Manhattan frequently, I can tell you its definitely not similar at all. Firstly, any fine dining restaurant has waiters in button down shirts, not pizzeria t-shirts. They have real menus, not pieces of paper on giant brown clipboards. And they are concerned for the comfort and satisfaction of the people already inside their establishments, not that of those they are hoping will come in. Especially since the guy made us feel uncomfortable to start with. Not to mention, if more people came in for dinner, and all the tables were taken, you have them wait at the bar! Not separate a table that was put together for other diners at the offering of your own staff! I sincerely hope the place has improved since then, but for us: overpriced, unwelcoming and unprofessional. The one star is just for the waitress who was very nice, and the bussing staff who are also very nice - and more attentive and professional than the "manager or whoever he was. Wont be back. And one last note - they neednt look to Manhattan to find somewhere to compare to. They dont hold a candle to most of the establishments in the Bronx. We get MUCH better service at the restaurants right in the neighborhood.

Very disappointing! Had my birthday dinner party there, and the service was bad, the waiters were rude, the manager was unprofessional, and on top of all that! It was hard to find people who spoke or understood english. I thought this was italian, this was poor management idiosyncrasy! The only thing they did right was the appetizers; they served the meat, vegetables, and pasta all separately, and served then served pasta before salads & rushed us thorough the rest of the meal. That is not what a five course meal is! We didnt get our coffee or unlimited soft drinks! Then on top of all this! They ruined the most important part of my party. We purchase our own Birthday cake, one of beauty and luxury. They did not give us any dessert plates, and when we asked for it, they did, but I noticed my cake was gone. They told a member of my guest party, that I said to take it in the back and cut it, I never even spoke to the staff!!! When it came back all cut, we were missing half of the cake. All of my guest did not get slices! The cake was made for 40 people, we only had 29, and not enough cake!!! Bull! They took all the beautiful decorations and did who knows what with it, probably threw it in the garbage. (thank god I had other keepsake). No birthday party etiquette!!!! Sliced through my name and Birthday, and then argued with us about prices, when the waiter who had no idea how to work the register, or know the difference between credit and debit could not handle the stress of being incapable. Then the manager/owner whom we made the agreement with was not there to solve the issue. This place is so... un-professional . Unless you are just going for drinks or appetizers--DONT GO! The nice tender spareribs and calamari (appetizers/take-out menu) was the best thing this place has to offer! And by the way, my son had to ask them 3 times to add liquor to his mixed drink, which cost $15. Thoroughly DISAPPOINTING!!! Big-ups! to my event planner who maintained her composure, because I was trying really hard not to keep mine.

Friends and I wanted to check out a place in the Bronx and found Pine bar on google maps. The place looked beautiful so we decided to check it out. We came in during happy hour and the prices were surprisingly low! So we order everything we could before 7pm when happy hour was over. Since there were only two bartenders and a big group of people at the place we didnt think too much when we had to reorder things since they would forget to bring us a menu/our meal. When my friends and I were about to leave and sign for the bill we realized everything had a different price!! We asked the bartender and her response was "Im not sure when the system recognized the order." They charged us $30 for a pitcher of sangria (happy hour was $20), $20 for a trio meal ($11 during happy hour), and $11 for sliders ($5 during happy hour). The bartender went to check with the manager and after 5 mins of them visibly discussing this and trying to fix it in the system she brings us back our new bill with the fixed prices. What pushed me over the edge was when we were told "we were given three sliders instead of two so they cant change the price on that item" I began to argue against her stating we didnt ask for three sliders then I realized it is a pointless waste of my time. Everything was nice and we were having a great time until our dilemma at the end. If you are planning on going to Pine bar to enjoy the happy hour please beware!!! Lucky for us we were not drunk and were able to catch on to their "error". The crazy part was the lady next to us had to tell them to fix her bill too due to the same problem.
