When Im reviewing a place its not unusual for me to peruse others reviews to get a feel if my experience (good or bad) jibes with the general concensus. Ive always enjoyed going to Deer Park, from when it was quite dodgy to its new incarnation. Staff have always been super friendly and despite me looking like a combination of the wrestler the undertaker and the boxer butterbean Ive never been made to feel out of place. Either when it was a bit of a dive or now as the classier place it clearly is. So on that basis alone Im wholeheartedly recommending Deer Park for any and all, families to gruff bikers. But going back to my opening paragraph regarding other reviews... I realize not everyone will be happy with their experience at a venue and indeed justly so sometimes. But its vitally important to me that a manager owns ALL comments sent to them and takes valid criticism on board. And I can say, based on the replies from the venues owners and directors, they pass with flying colors. Being polite, not confrontational or reactionary and taking into account what is being said, positive or negative. Bravo! The Deer Park definitely needed sprucing up and thats what has been done to perfection. Its raised its game visually but kept the same friendly, not elitist or snobby feel it always had. To me, it still feels historic but now has been raised a class up... and for that I raise my glass up to them.

Not what it Used to be. Ashby apparently doesnt understand what a strong link people have to this place, (going back decades), and has completely changed the character and atmosphere. Yes, it Needed upgrading, but you can go too far and miss out on repeat business from people expecting something different and being disappointed with the changes. Back when it was a Real hole in the wall, the DP still had Great food, lots of terrific atmosphere that changed depending on the day of the week, or season. And Even when it was not so desirable to some elements and patronage, the food was still very good. Now you have taken away a substantial portion the character, which contributes to Goodwill as a contributor to the business Value. Just because you Jack up prices does not make the food better. And I wonder if you have lost more revenue than you think from those aspects.

Ive been twice. The first time, I was unsatisfied by the cleanliness of the cups and silverware. The second time, I ordered only a Sprite, which was served in a disposable cup (which avoids the cleanliness issue), but the flavor of the Sprite was strange. Another patron was drinking water and said the water tasted strange as well, so its likely that the water affected the soda. Several of my friends come here often, sometimes even from an hour away. The building is historical and has a lot of character. I get the impression that its a cheap place for friends meeting up for beers. A lot of the locals have tons of old stories about this place.

Im a railfan who frequently stops at the deer park tavern to watch Csx go by and also to get a meal to eat, but every time I go and sit where the motorcycles park the wait staff never come out to ask hi can i get u something. Ive sat there even when other people were sitting three tables down for an hour with no response from the wait staff and when I went up to use the bathroom the manager was rude and said I couldnt use the upstairs bathroom. I think they should treat people the way they want to be treated. Not only that u ask them a question they answer it then they talk behind ur back as if ur weird.

I scheduled a shower here I called one day for a little more info on the set up. The woman on the other end was very nice but couldnt give me all the info I needed. The next day I got a phone call from Morgan she told me not to call that number again. She was rude after I called the number. On the day of the event the place was not very clean. Smelled like mlidew. And the music they were playing nothing I ever heard we asked to changed music they said they had no control over it.

Deer Park is a great place to visit. There are not only students that visit Deer Park, it is visited by tourist due to the fact that it is an historic place that many famous people have been along the way. Take for instance Edgar Allan Poe, he is just one among many that have enjoyed a beer there as well as a meal or an appetizer with their drink. Dont miss Deer Park, you will enjoy the experience and you will remember this place forever.

We used to go to DP regularly for their Nachos Grande plate. It used to be awesome, a heaping plate of greasy nacho heaven. We went last night (June 2014) and it was pathetic. No gaucamole, salsa or black beans. Hardly any cheese or lettuce. Just a bunch of dry chips and a little bit of cheese and shreds of lettuce. Plus, the kitchen or waitstaff messed up and forget one of our dinners. Good selection of beers.

Major college bar, big DUH, if you dont notice how close UDel is. You can tell cleaning and steralizing is not a nightly ritual. One bartender was great, other bartender was focused on stocking bar but not the customers. Chicken wings werent bad, bud light draft was ok. Typical college dive bar, do expect what the atmosphere lends you to believe. Would return for cheap drinks and lowered expectations.

My family came in to have lunch on a Tuesday. After being seated I was told by the staff that my daughter could not eat her cinnamon roll which she had brought in. I talked to the manager who enforced there no external food policy. He could not be civil about it. Crazy and uncivil policy. Im from out of town and visit yearly but definitely not a welcoming place for my family. Will not come back!

Ive always enjoyed Sunday brunch and the bloody mary bar at the DP. The last time I went, the service was a bit lacking and we had to sit at a high-top table right next to the bloody bar, which was crowded and kinda annoying. We werent asked if we wanted a high-top table before we were seated. I dont know if thats "standard", but Ive been asked about that in other restaurants.

The food was great, the waitresses and waiters were awesome. But I was expecting more from the atmosphere what a historical place, you would assume they would have historical items to see I believe the tavern would draw more people in see the history where such important people had been. So not only history can be shared to have a great conversation but also the food.

I was recently here for Sunday brunch, which was definitely not worth it. The eggs tasted like they were made from reconstituted powder and looked like they had been put in the microwave with a couple slices of American cheese thrown on top (I like scrambled eggs with cheese, but this certainly did not qualify). Theyre ok for lunch, but dont get the eggs at brunch.

Went on a Sunday afternoon from the library nearby, only a handful of people were at the bar, none at the tables. Tried this place a couple of times before on Friday/Saturday evenings, unless you are really early its unlikely youll find a spot to park, the lots not the biggest. Had the Crab Tots with Shock Top beer, nothing fancy but pretty decent nonetheless.
