I was disappointed to discover that their "creamy green chile chicken soup" on special was not really creamy so much as cloudy...with very little meat or anything else in it. Essentially it was spicy cloudy but mostly clear broth and not much more. My husband ordered a hamburger. They made it wrong and he had to send it back. They made it wrong again but he just dealt with it and ate it because he was hungry! When we sent it back for the first error, we said, "This has mayo on it. He cant eat it." Her response was weird. "OK, well, I can only see so much. Ill take it back and have them remake it." I guess she was making an excuse for not noticing the mayo we told her he didnt want on the sandwich when we ordered it? I am not sure why, but she seemed to find our two sentences personally offensive. So we didnt bother sending it back the second time. Then we had to wait and go through explanations at the register since she put BOTH burgers on our bill and the new cashier didnt know how to handle it. Disappointing. I used to LOVE 66 Diner, service and all.

The place has a beautiful 50s interior thats simply worth visiting and taking a few pictures with the staff being dressed accordingly to the style. There is plenty of space to take small and big groups alike and courteous service from the staff, so in that respect I give them high marks. The reason I cant give 66 Diner a full 5 stars is because of the food, it wasnt bad but it wasnt great either, for a diner, I look forward to a flavorful and tasty meal, all the way from the burger to the milkshake to the chocolate cake but I didnt get that from here. The food tasted like it was made to simply fill you but without care or though to the taste, the presentation was great but not so much the taste. Overall its not a bad experience, but I do hope they can improve the food taste and quality.

Love it! The atmosphere was excellent The waitress was super happy??? I think she was southern? but she was great. My son enjoyed his birthday here he chose this place because he loves the burritos and loves his oreo shake! My first time being there I will go back again the desserts are very good. My Burger was excellent! and the fries with chilli and cheese ohhhh yeah! Love em the bad: Small, hard to get to going east on central... have to make to many uturns... what can you say its a diner its meant to be small and loud! overall I thought it was great change of atmosphere! from what I understand the owner also owns Coaches? can anyone confirm this? thanks! Im going to try coaches when I get back to Albuquerque I heard the atmosphere is LOBO Fanatic!! cant wait

We are a family of 6 and after not having the best of luck at a local spot our 1st night in town, we were a bit reluctant to visit another. Cheddars was packed so we drove here on a gut feeling it had to be good - it was absolutely phenominal. The service was amazing and the food was even better. We got the milkshakes just because it is a diner set in the Era where you just have to get a milkshake...oh, yum! They are as good as they look! Very kid friendly too, which is important to us. Thank you 66 Diner! I dont foresee ever going to Albuquerque again, just not for us, but if we happen to be even within an hour of driving by, we will take a detour to eat here again. Well worth it!

My Belgian family and I were traveling from Portland, ME to Albuquerque, NM. As my dad is fan of diners and Route 66, I was so excited to bring him to this diner. We went there just after our arriving in Albuquerque. The service was excellent and the food delicious. Our waitress even allowed us to take pictures with her. The day before leaving Albuquerque, we went back for our last meal in New Mexico. The atmosphere/decoration is well done! I particularly appreciated the wall with the Route 66 map in the back of the restaurant. I will definitely recommand my friends to stop there on their journey in New Mexico. Sincerely, Rémy, from Belgium.

I want to love this place and have been trying for about fifteen years, yet consistently they have used ingredients that are below a bit par, the food just misses hitting the mark, lots of older folks here enjoying the atmosphere (witch is perfect 1950s diner) but keep to the milkshakes and sodas part of the menu as the cooked food will disappoint if you care about quality. If they just used slightly higher ingredients the place would be great, but as they have location and a perfect look to draw tourists I doubt the food will ever live up to the building.

Besides the cool interior and 50s style decorations, music and costumed wait staff, the food was delicious. Lots of neon and other Route 66 memorabilia inside, chrome metal table edges and chair legs, but what really impressed us was the freshness and tastiness of the food. I wasnt very hungry so ordered the soup and half sandwich. I got the New Mexico Green Chili Stew with a half a Meatloaf sandwich, both very flavorful and still more than I could eat. Even the lettuce was crisp and fresh. Just good food with friendly wait staff. Well be back.

Im positive no amount of nostalgia can justify the prices here. Its a diner! $8 appetizers? No friggin way. Staff is slow, unhelpful, and not well presented with hickeys showing. Tortillas are served almost cold, and pepper is the spice of choice, overwhelming any other spice they might have used. Grandson wouldnt eat the chicken strips, a taste told me it may have been the slight fish stick flavor they carried. Chicken in the enchiladas was bland, once you got beyond the black pepper crust. Route 66 robbers should be the name of this diner.

I know its "historic" and all, but thats the highlight of this place. Watery shakes, frozen pattys, blah food nothing special, servers arent that great either, fyi youll get your check midway thru your meal, crowded or not. Ive been here a few times and its been the same each time with different servers & different orders, anyways, I think the fries are the best item on the menu but they aint worth going back for. 66 Diner is nothing worth writing home about, bringing out of town guests to, or even going back, in my opinion.
