Place has gone downhill from even a couple years ago. Ive been going there for over 10 years and quality differences are definitely noticeable. Service has gotten very slow, but thats not even the issue. The quality of food has gone down drastically. This used to be one of the best if not the best steak joint in the area, not anymore. Last 3 or 4 times we went there, quality of the meat was pretty bad compared to what it used to be and what you would expect from a place priced the way this is. Their butcher (guy working behind the counter) changed from the guy that was there for years. I bet he would not have allowed that kind of meat in his kitchen. Also, when you ordered medium cooked, youd get medium cooked, not anymore. Now days its a crap-shoot of what youd get. Last night was finally what put me over the top. Half of the fillet was all fat and tendons. My wifes cut was better but not cooked properly at all. And you can tell that Im not the only one of the regulars who feels this way, because on the weekends, this place would be packed, usually over an hour wait. Now you can get seated almost immediately. They are definitely not as busy as they used to be.

When you first walk in it is so dark that you have to stand still until your eyes adjust or youll trip like I did. Then when you are being seated you walk with your hands out because its still too dark. My family went with a party of 10. We got 2 stuffed shrimp platters, 2 medium well filet mignons, one well done sirloin, 2 chicken finger platters, and 3 other steaks. My brother ordered the shrimp wrapped in bacon as an appetizer and it smelled so fishy. when the food arrived, it was the kids food first and then ours 15 mins later so that they were done and hard to entertain while we were trying to eat. When they brought my order out it was wrong and then I was informed that another waitress took my order for her table. My fathers meal was undercooked and I had to wait 20 minutes for the right meal and had to eat mine way after my family was done their meal. The service otherwise was great. They had good creme brulee and coffee. At the end it cost 440 before tip. Not worth it at all honestly.

STEAK... BACON... SALAD... SCALLOPS... DESSERT...AMAZING! Portions are overwhelming and you will take some home with you if you are a normal person. I had the filet tips for the second time which are served with a mushroom sauce that is a little on the salty side, but creamy and adds a whole other layer to the perfectly trimmed and cooked steak! Here are the must try items list (other than steak of course): Crab cake, bacon wrapped scallops, and garlic mashed potatoes. I wasnt a fan of the NY Cheesecake because it just didnt have much flavor. But the Key Lime pie was just right, not too tart. And the Peanut Butter Blitz is very rich and sticks to the roof of your mouth like you expect it too. Do bring a flashlight or use your phone because the place is so dark you cant see what youre cutting in to and barely the person in front of you.

This place has a very romantic and intimate atmosphere. The lighting is very low, but the music is loud enough to enjoywithout being too much. We were told to make as much noise as we wanted because it wasnt an actual library. There are books lining the walls and on display; you are more than welcome to look around and touch them. The food could be considered a little pricey depending on what your used to, but it is definitely worth it. The steak was huge and cooked exactly the way I asked. It was so nice to not send my food back to be recooked. It was flavorful and tender. The salad bar comes with the meal and is self-serve, as is the bread and cheese. All-in-all in was a very good experience and hubby & I will definitely return!

My three friends and myself visited the Library on Monday August 29th. We arrived at 8:30 PM for dinner. We asked for a table in an area near the bar. I have dined at the Library at least once a year for the past 30 years and always been satisfied. Not this time. The salad bar was good as usual, but right after we sat down to eat our salad our dinners arrived. We sent the dinners back until we had finished our salads and they must have just put them back under the burners to wait. My filet arrived shrunken with a large potion of gristle. The mushrooms which are always my favorite were overcooked also. It is a shame that they will probably never see me again.

We have been going to the Library II for years and our last 2 visits have been mediocre. Our latest visit was this week for my birthday. The filet was average and not cooked to order. Our waiter was almost non existent and it wasnt busy so he wasnt helping other patrons. The salad bar was not up to par and 2 bowls of lettuce were almost empty. There was food squashed on the floor that had been dropped from the salad bar. I dont mind paying $100 for a dinner for two but I expect it to be of much better quality than we received. Not sure if they are under new management but they are def not as good as they used to be.

I used to work at this restaurant when I was younger. The staff was always and continues to be very friendly and the kitchen is clean! I have never had a meal at this restaurant that wasnt delicious and filling. The salad bar is probably one of the best in the area. Although this restaurant may be more suited for the more affluent clientele, there are chicken/steak dishes available at a very low cost and they include the famous salad bar! If you have never been to the Libary II, you must try it!

I am so disappointed. Our first experience wasnt good so we thought wed try it again. The wait was 15 minutes longer than we were told and several parties who arrived after us were seated first. The food was awful. We both had filet and it was very fatty which a filet is NOT. The service was slower than molasses. It took about 40 minutes for our food to arrive. Do yourself a favor and go up the street to Flemmings which is top notch and not much more money.

Had a lovely time for date night recently here. sat at the bar first for a little happy hour and then got seated at a table shortly after. Bought a bottle at the table which was reasonably priced. I ordered the broiled seafood combination which was amazing. There was an abundance of each portion on my plate. If I didnt fill up so much on the salad bar prior I would have been able to finish my meal. Wasnt my first time here and definitely will not be the last

The is one time to judge a book by its cover. Looks bad on the outside and does not get any better on the inside. My wife and I should have taken the hint when our drinking water was gross. Wife steak was way over cooked (order medium rare came well done) mine had some weird sauce maybe? Salad bar looked like it had a lot of "old" food. Brown apples wilted lettuce. We will never go back and do not reccomend this restaurant.
