I havent been to Harvest Moon in a few years. I also havent dined in the formal dining room. The pianist is a nice touch, as always. The fireplace was going in the dining room, which was nice since each time the door opened some cold air blew in. The dining room needs an update - wallpaper is outdated. The appetizer selection was heavy on seafood. We decided to go with salads instead. I ordered the beef tenderloin and my husband tried the wild boar which was on the specials list. The waitress said it was like beef but more tender. That couldnt be further from the truth. The boar was served on the bone and was very tough to cut and had a lot of fat. The beef tenderloin, however, was perfect. I wouldnt get the boar again though. We had creme brulee and a pumpkin ice cream sundae for dessert which were both enjoyable. Menu needs more variety in appetizers - try less seafood. The service needs the most work. The hostess and bartender were professionals, but once you sat down, the wait staff is very young and it shows. No fresh ground pepper on salads or entrees! No wiping away crumbs between courses! For the prices at Harvest Moon, the servers should be going the extra mile and it wasnt just our server, they all were the same. I would go back but maybe in the Tavern next time and hope they improve their service.

I was unaware when I first went to the Harvest Moon Inn that I may have eaten food prepared by Stan some years ago when I was at the Frog and the Peach in New Brunswick. (great dining then, early 90s) but that said.... the Harvest Moon menu is interesting and though the meals are complex, there is also a simplicity to them that allows each ingredient to stand alone. Nothing is lost within the layering of the meals. Sorry if that does not make sense to you, it does to me!! The appetizers, the main course and the desserts were all wonderful. The rice pudding is some of the best I have ever had. The cheesecake and sorbet are also splendid. The seafood, pork and beef entrees are all delectable and the various appetizers we have tried on our many trips here are all outstanding. Leaving us satisfied through and through and yet, wishing we had more!! We hope to dine here for years to come. If you are a Ruby Tuesday or Applebees diner (and there is nothing wrong with that!! - we go there too!), this may not be the place for you. Go here to have a culinary experience that is unhurried and comforting and unforgettable.

We were so pleasantly surprised by our dinner at the Harvest Moon Inn. Truthfully, we had some reluctance to go after reading the reviews concerning the service issues some guests seem to have experienced lately. However, we were blown away by how professional and accommodating the staff were. Add to that a beautiful setting. Add to that wonderful food. Everything we ordered was from the extensive menu of specials, and it was all seemlessly delivered to our table, cooked to perfection. We were amazed to learn that the place is run by the chef, clearly a talented man, and his wife, who serves as a capable and kind hostess. Overall, this is a hidden gem, and a new favorite place for us. We will definitely be back!

A restaurant with mediocre food, poor service, high prices for food quality - and an attitude. Celebrated hubbys birthday here with family - notation of special event made on reservation. Service was disjointed, food mediocre with a chef who clearly tries too hard to be trendy, sacrificing quality for presentation. And no follow-up on birthday special event. We know quality food and have Continental palates, traveling extensively and often. Harvest Moon is way too full of themselves, neglecting customers and food for style. We will not return.

Stan Novak (owner) took $200 deposit, 5 months b4 our party, then never took my calls or returned them from then on. When I decided I didn’t want to do business with him and cancelled my reservation 3 months b4 my party, Mr. Novak refused to refund my deposit. When Hunterdon County Consumer Affairs got involved, Mr. Novak ignored them as well. I hope it’s worth $200 to have me tell everyone who will listen to NEVER do business with him.

Nice decor, yet a very loud setting. Everything is grossly overpriced. It took two hours for our entrees to be served to us. We were told our entrees would arrive in "two minutes, the chef is putting on the final touches". When we asked ten minutes later "they are on their way". Forty minutes later our entrees arrived and they were cold. Never going there again. Wasted money and wasted evening.

I live in the area and have dined here a few times, once with two kids. The food is great, but the service can be awkwardly slow. The decor is horrible, even by "historic building" standards ... I feel like Im in the Shining when Im at the bar. Occasionally theres a piano player there which is great, but it can be a bit overwhelming for a small space. Worth a trip, just plan for a long night!

This restaurant has always made us feel welcome. We know that our meal is going to take some time but we also know it will be excellent. The chef is very particular about the dishes he sends out. His wife, Teresa can be found greeting guests and visiting at various tables. We know that were going to get an excellent meal either from the Tavern menu or the main menu.

My wife and I have eaten here on a few occasions and enjoyed our experience. It is a little pricey. The service is good and the food also good. One thing I ordered a,single scoop of ice cream for dessert $2.00. It was,a real tiny scoop not worth it. They need to give s larger scoop . Atmosphere is cozy in the tavern and more formal in the dining room.

Must try the Venison...amazing. Had a great night , piano player was great. Our waitress, Sirina, was pleasant and very professional. I read some of the reviews about being over priced and loud...I found the prices were spot on...and the ambiance perfect... Lovely place and lovely night.... Ringoes, NJ resident

We went here recently for lunch- the food was really good, beautiful presentation, and used fresh vegetables and fruits. Service was painfully slow. And the food is a bit pricey for the amount and type of food you get. But it tasted great

Delicious cuisine with locally sourced and homegrown ingredients. Every meal we have there is delicious! It is a bit pricey--sodas do not have free refills even, but the food is incredible.

For those like like a charming country inn setting, the Harvest Moon gives you the feeling of a New England inn right here in New Jersey. It is a lovely way to spend an evening.

Wife and I had dinner in the tavern area. Service and food very good. Loved atmosphere and character of this old stone building. Bartender was awsome. Will return soon.

Good was terrific. Service was good but we had a new waitress who mixed up the salads and forgot an appetizer, but we understood she was new and needed to learn.
