Went here almost 2 years ago and the service and the food was top notch, however this experience was a little eye-opening especially for the price and the service we received was unacceptable. We placed an order for two appetizers one of which was warmed up goat cheese with crackers the other was raw wasters along with a kids meal asked to be served all at the same time as the little one was pretty hungry . along with the appetizers we asked for simply two waters all of which came out after 45 minutes of waiting not once in that time Where we asked if everything was OK or why things were taking so long. Our table was right next to where the waitress would punch order items in so it was not like there is any possible way to clearly forget about us. Even if the kitchen was at fault, following up with a waiting table that length of time should not be optional especially from a management perspective in which management was nonexistent. It got to the point where I requested that her appetizers not come out at all and we skip them and go right to the main entrée and I which point I was informed that the main entrée was not placed in as an order yet as the appetizers needed to come out first before that happened . When we finally received our main entrées they were dropped off at our table again without follow up from any sort of management and without any apology also two baked potatoes without any butter or spread as well as the steak with no steak sauce no refills on the already empty waters and this is after one Hour and 15 minutes of placing our order. The waitress was friendly at the very end as I felt was possibly trying to compensate for a larger tip due to all the issues in between. The blame I place on management for the amount of money my family spent here versus the service provided if we eat at a five-star restaurant I clearly expect a minimum of three star service. As a client I felt ignored and unimportant. This is such a shame as I feel as though this restaurant is a jewel with the location in the middle of a scenic area with top-notch food however I feel as though the service did not complement everything else. I am not in the restaurant business however I do know customer service and my only piece of advice would be to make sure that the client experience is the product offered not the commodity. Management should be at the minimum visible as well as accountable to clear up any issues or potential perceived issues with any client. even red robins Applebees Longhorn steakhouse has floor managers that check with the tables to make sure at least one time throughout the dining experience if everything is satisfactory. I truly do not wish to downplay this restaurant as I do love coming here however this experience unfortunately has changed my perception at least for the immediate future. It is unknown if I am willing to give a second chance.

I never write a bad review because I feel like sometimes people can just have a bad day but my little experience with this place left such a sour taste in my mouth I couldnt let it go unmentioned. I inquired about doing a shower at Walpack Inn this summer and Jim (who I am assuming is the owner??) and I played phone tag for a few days. I didnt mind the phone tag as Im very busy and work a ton. When I did try to call him back his voicemail did not allow me to leave a message (didnt think much of it, but should have been strike 1). He left me a second message telling me that Saturday afternoons they dont open until 4pm so wouldnt be able to host the shower (narrow minded, strike 2). The other bridesmaids and I toyed around with the idea of doing an evening shower anyway or switching to a Sunday so I figured Id give him another call. When I spoke with him he was very arrogant and short with me. I wanted more information and to find out the difference between the possibility of renting space or if it was strictly a catering facility (I was open to either one). The moment I asked, he completely blew me off and became extremely rude implying that I should know better than to ask questions of "space rental". He stated "have you SEEN or been to Walpack Inn?" To which I replied "no, my only experience is through the internet as I am a couple hours away and this is why I am inquiring". He asked further questions about my budget, implying that they were clearly not within it, to which I refused to respond because at this point it did not matter if the business was within my budget because I would not be using their venue. If youre looking for good customer service and a friendly, personable event coordinator this is not your place.

The T-Bones were Great. The Bread is my favorite and we brought back two of the big loafs. We enjoyed watching the Eastern Bluebirds and the Chipping Sparrows eating right out side of the big windows next to us. They even put up Bluebird nest boxes up near by. The Staff were very nice and the Salad Bar was fresh. After the meal we drove over to Buttermilk Falls and Tillmans Ravine to top of the trip. We came up from the Sussex County Fairgrounds 8 miles away after a Hamfest with other Amatuer Radio Operators and they will be coming back to the Walpack Inn again. Well worth the 122 mile drive from Mount Holly, NJ. just for the best bread around. Several Ham radio operators drove 4-6 hours the Fairground and they came and said they wished that they lived closer and they will be next year, stay the night and eat Dinner at the Wallpack Inn again. I have been coming here since 1975, Great Food, Great Staff, Great Bread. A good place to bring your Mom and Dad for a nice dinner that you both will remember in a nice place. I bought my Mother to the Walpack Inn for Dinner in her 90s just before she passed away and she truly enjoyed it along with watching the Deer and the Birds since she had and myself been a Bird Bander for many years before. 9/19/15 in for dinner around 5:30. Nice atmosphere, rustic. Waited about 20 mins. Seated in the patio area. On the table were two huge slices of whole grain bread. My husband had the strip steak ( very thin sliced and Chewy) with boiled in butter scallops $29, I had the filet mignon ( a hockey puck) $33, we both ordered medium. Both came with the salad bar, ( iceburg lettuce and the usuals) a side, a baked potato ( a whole baked potato uncut on separate plate with a paper cup of sour cream). I guess this is why they give you so much bread. The waitress asked how is everything, she notice and stated "thats over cooked" and offer me another, or a piece of primb rib. I declined because it was very busy and I wanted to eat with my husband, not after him. I told her its OK, no thank you, and she stormed off, stating "Im not taking it off the bill" she was loud enough for the people at the table next to us to turn around. I still cant believe it. I will not return or recommend to friends.
